This whole movie and cast was insane. Madness. These guys in the middle of the jungle. Its such a classic action movie from back then. He did nothing but the most basic hammy acting in what amounted to a 'character actor role' almost entirely around his crazy big muscles. He doesn't enunciate and his character is almost immediately killed off without a fight. He served little purpose but to be a super big muscular guy who's easily killed by Predator SO THAT the audience realizes Arnold, though he's got huge muscles, that will not be enough vs this enemy.
The fact that Vince McMahon was too good to give at least three to five minutes of his time to Jesse “The Body” Ventura tells you more about him as a person. I can see why Ventura hated and rebelled against McMahon. He made a smart decision with the movie and video game.
King Kong Bundy told a story about how he was given the job to sell Apple computers back in the late 80s when Apple first started selling the Macs and how Bundy got royalties and a huge payday from it, and he said that Vince went livid because he told Bundy NOT to take the job and yelled at Bundy. It's ironic though, he wouldn't accept any messages or phone calls or whatnot unless if it was one person and that was Hulk Hogan. The other ironic thing about it was, was that Hogan left WWF in '93 and Vince hated him, same with Macho Man, Macho Man wanted to wrestle more and Vince wouldn't let him, said "his time has come and gone and you're more suited to be a color commentator!" and when they got the Slim Jim deal, Savage up and left WWF due to disagreements and took the Slim Jim deal with him as well to WCW.
Why? Vince made him a superstar. Nobody would have heard of Jesse if it wasn't for Vince. We wouldn't even be talking about this clown if it wasn't for Vince giving him that push back in the 80s. Don't be so gullible.

Loved watching this movie on a Friday/Saturday night with my dad. Women were out of the house and we had a boys night, me and pops with food and the TV. Little memories like those are awesome.
In my opinion PREDATOR is the absolute Top Nr.1 Action movie ever. A simple and straight story, incredible perfect cast (incl Black, Chaves, Landham and Duke) made every single member of the group a unique guy, not sex scenes thatdisturbs the story, no love story or love interest, no family thing...pure Action. The movie made the M 134 a new and spectacular weapon effect in Action movies, and its so gory and thrilling about. The storyline is perfect, first you see the ultimate machos, then scary horror with skinned green Berets, elite fighters, you see that these few guys erase a complete camp of fighters and then the ultimate shock of the "undescribable attacker" and the death of Blain...thats the moment you know that EVERYTHING can happen and how easy the Predator can kill one by one... And i think the most remarkable thing and man in the group is Blain, Jesse Ventura. Top coolness, unique style (Aussie hat), huge body and this crazy Minigun. Ventura is the proof that the perfect casting is a key for a Blockbuster success. And: Its interesting that they can do a Masterpiece of Action just with a hand full of Actors...incl the Predator there are 10 Actors in it...no Car chases, exploding buildings etc. Compare it with Die hard or Lethal weapon and you see what i mean.
The irony of that quote was, was that when Jesse came back from shooting Predator, he literally walked up to Vince, smirked and said "I've got my union now, Vince!" and walked off. It was also known that Vince wanted to fire Ventura for doing Predator, but the owners of NBC (I think it was NBC) who had given the WWF slots for Saturday Nights Main Event specifically said that they WANTED Jesse Ventura on the show, and when they found out that Vince was planning to fire him out of spite, they threatened Vince with pulling all WWF shows and putting on NWA/WCW shows instead.
Jesses’s politics are left of me, but I loved the way he answered questions when he ran for governor. He was honest and straightforward and it was great to hear. Governor and Navy Seal - thanks for your service to this country.

It later turned out due to the deposition that Vince was under due to Ventura suing him for lost royalties over the VHS tapes with Ventura on them, Jesse's lawyer went to Vince and asked him "Did anyone ever say something about a union?" and Vince went "I think Jesse Ventura spouted his mouth off about it." and Ventura's lawyer then said "Did you see him say it?" and Vince went "No" and then Ventura's lawyer went "Well HOW did you know he SAID it?" and Vince flat out with no hesitation went "Hulk Hogan told me!".
Jesse was ahead of his time... For a wrestler back then to star in such a massive box office movie was really something! He was right, he had that extra element to his personality which meant he could take on a role like that... Hulk Hogan was type cast & one dimensional by contrast... Mr Nanny anyone?
That movie was one of the ultimate films for me in my childhood. To this day I still pop this movie on with some bros when drinking beers- as I'm sure many other Gen X and early Millenials still do.
