    Thanks so much for this video. I’ve only been crocheting for just a year but have noticed the art of doing it with thin yarns and very thin threads is just that…. An art! and the colors of the yarn from specialty dyers are fenomenal!!! I am Hispanic and watch a lot of crochet channels in Spanish where most of the works are done in the thinnest yarns and threads and they are absolutely gorgeous. I’m grateful I am bilingual and exposed to both ways of crochet. My MIL crocheted the most beautiful things ever in the thinnest of threads well up to her early 90’s. European nuns (mostly Spanish) in schools historically taught crochet and lace making to girls since before the 19th century. It’s sad but understandable that in the US what you can find now mostly is thicker and bulkier yarns. Seems like today we want more wearables and quick projects in the thicker yarns and don’t have the time and patience it takes to work the thin yarns. But I truly admire the olden and simpler days when women would gather to work together and make this work and others to beautify their life.
    Sorry I took a tangent when your video is more for what you can do with one skein.

      I love what you said. It is so very true. Crochet originated as a lace skill where people would use it to make detailed lace trim for clothes, collars, pillows, or very dainty things like curtains or bedspreads. All these projects would take a painstaking amount of time but were in themselves true art to be admired. These days we are exploring a new kind of crochet. Like you said, with the wearables and faster projects where people can get a faster outcome to move onto the next. We have grown in the Fiber Arts too with yarn thicknesses the did not exist back then. There is so much we can do now. But this specialty yarn is so beautiful, it is a good reminder for people to explore projects we don't experiment with much anymore. It's great to remind people of what they could do with this beautiful craft we love so much. 😊❤️🧶

    I was given 2 weight yarn and I usually work with 4 or 5. Had no idea what to make, I noticed alot are making dk yarn instead of 2 weight yarn, thank u for this video Tiffany.

      @CrochetWithTiffany  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I spoke with a couple yarn makers. They said that with the increase of crocheters entering the scene they are selling more DK size yarn and so they are transitioning what sizes of yarn the provide to what sells most. Fingering and DK.

      Some but not all of the projects I shared in this video I have video tutorials for. I loved all of the patterns I shared in this video though and now that I am working with Fiberlady, who specializes in thinner yarn, I would love to make similar projects to the ones I shared in video tutorial form on my channel. 🤗❤️🧶

    And I found out I was allergic to bamboo yarn after buying it for an afghan🙈☹️

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      REALLY! That's so good to know. It is not common for someone to be allergic to Bamboo. But at the same token I have met people who were allergic to acrylic yarn too. Not as common as the wool allergy. But YES! So important to know if someone is allergic to the fiber before purchasing. Bamboo is more rare, you don't bump into it often, so I can see that one being a new discovery for you. So sorry.

      It came as a shock to me as I was in my 50s at the time. Never can use bamboo yarn but I love the wools especially the specialty yarns like the ones you used in your video. Lorna Lace & Madeline Tosh are two of my favorites. I have done afghans in the #2 yarns and they take forever but the turn out breathtaking. Love you “show”!

      @@nanakatie9496 oohhh, I love Madelinetosh yarn too! Soo pretty! I completely agree, projects with size 2 yarn do take forever but there is a real beauty to it. 😊❤️🧶
