    Thank you for this video! I’ve been so frustrated in all of my years of knitting and crochet and I never thought to go below a 3 weight because I assumed it was all for socks but I love that drape in store bought items. Looks like I’m heading to Michaels after work 😘😘

    Loved this video on the lightweight yarn, I'm obsessed with cotton atm and have been making maxi skirts and patterned tank tops, plus the usual shawls. I'm working on another maxi skirt atm ( crocheted) the yarn I use us from Turkeys Ice Yarns its s 4 strand 2 weight cotton and it splits very easily so projects take a little longer. I loved the 2 tops especially the knitted on. I do both knitting and crochet.

    My God! Your work is so amazing that am still breathless dear. So many beautiful pieces of art and the yarn is just so unique. Pray to God I get reach so I'll be buying from you on weekly basis. Even better, pray so I get rich to go to your store and come back to P.R. with boxes full of your yarn and other items from your store. I don't know about you, but to me it sounds perfect. Am believing it's going to happen. Who knows one day you turn around and there I am.

    I'm quite new to crochet and am LOVING all your teaching videos.
    One major question I have [but want to master, if you could do a video, ~please~] is: how do you get BOTH socks to come out the same size (and as well, with mittens & baby booties)?
    I know it has to do with consistency in tension, but each time I have to quit working on a project & I return later, how do you 'exactly' recreate your previous energy? Seems utterly impossible to accomplish .....
    (for me, anyway).

    • @ExpressionFiberArts

    I have used the Oasis Camel Silk yarn to make two pairs of shorty socks, with one skein. I am using one pair as everyday wear socks, and the other as my sit in the chair knitting or crocheting/wear to bed socks. Both are holding up very well so far. I can see some fuzzing on the heels of the everyday sock, but I wonder if that is due in part from wearing them in crocs, which has the little nubbins that the heel rubs on. I wear them at least once a week, sometimes more, they are a little over 2 months in my rotation and still look solid. The house chillin pair still look brand new. So far I am so so happy with them, not to mention they are just the most luxurious little gifts to myself. I have more of this better than ice cream yarn in my stash and there will be even more soon. I'm looking for a treasure chest, just to house this gift of the gods in. Go ahead! TREAT YOURSELF! Buy this yarn! While your there in Chandi 's shop do check out the patterns, and pick out the one you must have, then fill your basket with the yarn you need to make it. We all need snuggles and IMHO, nothing makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, better than yarn! Especially free yarn, sign up for the give aways, but make sure you have room for a massive addition to your stash!

    Hi Chandi. Thank you for this video & the invite to comment. I know this video was put out a long time ago however I think this can still be relevant. I'm rather brand new to crochet.
    Is it possible to choose the wrong yarn for your project?

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, that's still possible. The most important thing is to match the yarn weight if you're substituting yarns. Next you'd like to check the fiber content, are the fibers in the 2 yarns from the same families, like silk, wool, alpaca, and so on. It doesn't have to match 100% but if it's similar your project will have the same, drape/sheen/look. Different fibers behave differently, for example 100% alpaca doesn't hold it's shape and stretches. So that can affect how your final item looks.
      One final advice I can give you is, make a swatch not just to check your gauge/tension but also to fill the fabric that you're getting to decide if you like it or not.
      I hope this makes sense and is helpful. 🩷

    With the yardage on that camel fingering, is it more of a light fingering or heavy weight lace yarn than a true fingering weight?

  • @grimmssocalledlife4140
    @grimmssocalledlife4140 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is there any way to explain the use of the yarn in a different way. I’ve had a lot of trouble because of my disability. I do understand different plys and was wondering if that has anything to do with how you know what to use

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here's another resource for understanding yarn weight and why it matters: doradoes.co.uk/2020/08/22/yarn-weights-explained/
      Yarn weight is going to determine things like the thickness of the finished knit or crochet piece, the density of the stitch texture, what size needle is best suited for each weight, and how visible different stitch textures will be (i.e., a looser gauge with a lace weight will not show off cable stitches, as well as an more densely knit worsted weight). The number of plies (and fiber content) will affect drape and stitch definition and how the piece holds up over time). This is only a brief overview, but I hope it helps you a little.
