Me too. At first, I thought the "th" sound was a combination of the "t" and "h" sounds. But now thanks to Vanessa I can say the "th" sound correctly and clearly.
As an English learner, I could claim that the most difficult English sound to produce is the long /u/ sound in words like jewelry which is a tricky one by the way. I love learning American English, even though the English language in general can be so difficult to pronounce even more if I try to speak the language as native English speakers do which is kinda unrealistic but that's okay. Thanks so much for your helpful, straightforward and entertaining lessons Vanessa, you have a beautiful smile as well as a really striking way of teaching English, I love it ❤😊🌹.
@@ernestorevollar3632 lol I googled the ng sound and it turns out that my language has it (Brazilian Portuguese) but it's extremely rare (one example is the word manga, which means mango, had no idea it has that sound)
The short /a/ (apple) and short /e/ (every) was always the same in my mind. I can perceive the difference when they are alone, but in a word they are quite the same for me. If truth be told, I always understood the sound of T in better, sweater, etc like a sound that I have in my language, but is not a /d/ sound. I have pronounced "of" with /f/ sound and "his" with /s/ sound my entire life. Now I am imagining how a native speaker sees me when I speak! My goodness!
Through this video, I'm very motivated to practise my speech organs muscles to be as soft as yours while articulating those phonemes. Thank you in advance Vanessa.
So incredible, so good i can repeat that like a native speaker but my jaw is getting tired so fast, so my pronunciation everytime depends on my mood and muscle conditions, but thanks its clear now!
Thank you so much for making this kind of videos! For me the hardest part is understanding the tongue movements when you can't see it. Like /oo/ I can tell there's tongue retraction/swallowing , but idk exactly how.
Vanessa you are amazing. i do have in New Zealand for over 1o years, english is not my native language that why i keep studying to get it improving on. I just would like to tell you your videos are amazing and you are so friendly while teaching. Keep going on and all the best ever, thanks for teaching us with your patience and love.
Unvoiced th was little difficult for me. I was thinking for this topic from several days and after watching this lesson I learnt to pronounce every single words. Tq ma'am
English can be extremely difficult for non-native speakers. I am an American currently learning Spanish. One of the best recommendations I received was to watch Spanish language news on TV, and also cartoons! I think it would also benefit people trying to learn American English (watching American news on TV).
English learner here, TV news are great but they might not be that helpful for understanding natives speakers due to how fast and unclear/lazily they can speak, not to mention the amount of slangs, regionalisms, etc.
Spanish is a very easy language to understand because we pronounce the words as they are written. We only have 5 vowel sounds. We pronounce everything clearly. Except for the s at the end of the words. In my country, we don't tend to pronounce them completely. You guys have so many vowel sounds. You reduce the sounds when it is not stressed. You have so many words in English. You tend to join everything. It takes a lot of practice to feel comfortable with your pronounciation.
Please make a video on all prepositions with all conditions and conjuctions simultaneously, and please tell me which sound I should follow in terms of pronunciation British or American
Thank you so much for this! Can you do these sounds again but for each sound, please do 3 positions: beginning, middle and end of the words. That would be great
Actually I already knew 'em. What I would like is to make a conversation so we can understand also to immitate you for making better match between our mouth & our brain. Greetings from Guatemala.
Thank you very mucha, Vanessa! I'd like to get a stronger training with the "R" sound! It's a really beautiful american english sound that doesn't existe in my repertoire.
