Start with paying attention to the melody for example, what is the melodic pattern, is it a scale, is it going up or down, what intervals, is the melodic pattern repeated in a different way etc. Those details will help you memorize better. Also, it’s not too late to start paying more attention to harmony, especially if you have a teacher. If not, you can also start watching some videos on analyzing chords, let me know if that’s of your interest and I will make some videos on the topic :)
