Viper in the second round breaking himself free from this tiny corner with enemy water and land superiority was just crazy.
But why didn't he prevent the douche in the first place if he knew it was coming?
@@danielschurmann7558 I can't speak for him, but first of all he already build houses outside as an obstruction and second of all, he got visited and raided by multiple enemies too. His fish got raided by Max before he reached feudal. And Valas send War-Wagons as soon as Viper hit Feudal. Without that it's still a huge investment for Rubenstock and reallocating is not always worse for Viper in a 1v1 setup.
@@danielschurmann7558 Just like how he didn't take the boar immediately. Unwarranted optimism. There are actually two Rage Forest games he recently posted where he expected to get TC dropped, one in which it actually happened and he eventually lost the game because he was the strongest player on his team but with the lowest sore. But in the other game, you can see what he does to try to prevent the TC drop: building random palisades everywhere.
This strategy is based on the fact that you can prevent TC drop in a certain place with one palisade or house. But if you expect it, you can also just build a normal line of palisade walls! At 46:15 we can count how many palisade walls it would have taken to wall on bottom, left, and right: 29 walls, or 87 wood. Maybe less if you wall to the lower-left instead of in a circle.
Ultimately, though, the TC drop was a lot more successful than normal because most of Viper's resources were tied up in trying to go FC, instead of being used for immediate military or even a replacement TC. (Or even the 500 food and TC time used to go to Feudal, with no advantage gained compared to delaying Feudal and producing more villagers.)
What an amazing series! Now I have to watch all the other series. Absolutely love the 4v4 gameplay. I also liked the good communication. I always feel like a little improvement in communicating strategies and shotcalling would make GL unbeatable. The individual skill is rivaled only by very few players from other teams.
Only the 3rd time I've watched this over various uploads. Great games, love to see GL playing together.
I just started watching these recently. Is that Jordan, Viper, and Daut superimposed on the loading screen? Is that a public mod?
Can't afford to join; just want to say it's nice seeing the camaraderie among some of you, famous AoE2 players for so many years ... kind of a good ol' boys club! ;-)

It hurt watching them play camels into sicilians.
Hindustani camels, and the Sicilian resistance was nerfed to 33% last year. So camel does 17 damage per hit, 1.67 attack speed vs 13 damage per hit, 1.8 attack speed, and camel is still cheaper. Maybe battle elephants would have been better, but mobility matters too. Edit: completely forgot about imperial camel, with +1 attack and +20 HP.
The lack of rams or armored elephants early on was more important, I think. Even when Sicilians left to help the other side, it was too hard to push with arbalests against better Ethiopian arbalests. Eventually Nili added, but by then Suomi already had better trade.

I was watching the stream of this and didn’t feel like watching another total and brutal domination after KotD V, so I switched it off. Nice to know they came back.
I have had that same mangonel targeting glitch at 59:00, where it changes target randomly when at max range, this game is so broken since the DLC.
Lmfao come on. We are spoiled with AoE 2 when a few bugs are called “SO BROKEN”. Is the game running? Can you join ranked games? Have you seen what many other games are like today? With Hell Let Loose, half the time, I cannot even throw a grenade without first switching weapons, shooting, then swapping back to grenades. Then I can throw.

What kind of bullshit rationalisation is that lmao, “this game is super shitty so be happy your game is only partly shitty”, how about we up our standards and expect a Microsoft level dev team to deliver or atleast fix what they broke in a timely manner

I will always wonder why viper is too proud to build walls, 2:00:00 stone in bank, they are losing ground.... I guess someone can be too pro and smart to buy noob tactic walls... walls can and will be broken but why not use them to slow down and make funnels for the enemy units? if only there were walls earlier...
how would that have helped in this game?
@@kOaMaster2 its quite easy to build walls on the narrow open area as the other team did, it buys you valuable seconds and gives you vision of the unis moving next to it because most people does not bother to open it more than few tiles. they are quite useful and the other team did use them.
@@bestia3027 I know what walls are for, I'm just not sure how much this would've helped in this case. The way they were steamrolled with siege & cav also with the cutting in the middle, I don't think walls would have made a difference.
@@kOaMaster2 not a lot for average players like us, but for a pro player getting extra minutes and vision might make a big difference. the other team did use it :P

That hideout match was just lost because of Arbalest pride. Mangonels and Halbs would have sufficed.

Nili seriously holding this team back, I feel like he’s only apart of the team because he’s a content creator and streamer. His level of play at the moment is subpar is will lose GL a lot of tourneys… nothing against him personally but as a sponsored team you should be focused on winning. Almost losing to Suomi is sad.
He may have other qualities that you are not aware of
@@lepoetesanglantif he can’t play at the level needed he shouldn’t participate in the games, simple as that. His other qualities are irrelevant to the final result. I know I’m coming across harsh but this is meant to be a professional league, there are standards and perhaps he should stick to his better qualities and let the actual pro players play the games.
Trashing Nili is trashing the team. GL loves him. I've seen this Nili hate a million times. Some even hate Jordan. But eventually, most of them will come around. Remember, It's their team, they have history. Who are you to sprew hate otherwise. Here's a solution, If you don't like him, it's easy, just leave crybaby.

@@S_Heavens no one hates Jordan. Besides, Jordan was once considered 2nd best player in the world behind viper years ago, he earned his spot and continues be a valuable member. Nili has never been considered anything but an annoyance, and consistently shows why his spot on the team is ridiculous. He wouldn’t even be top 50 in my list. Nothing against Nili personally at all, I just don’t like to see GL dragged down due to their relationship and loyalty to a friend. I know why they have him in the team still, but if they want to be taken seriously as a team they need to stop playing with him. Otherwise it’s #AM #WWP dominating for years to come.
