We've also got another big update coming... 😬 Soon you will be able to drag-and-drop virtually ANY sample pack into Kit Maker and have it instantly process it! Stay tuned! Great video Ave!
Ok @Ave Mcree, I gotta give you some props on this. I've been a Maschine user for a while now, and I actually own all of the NI Maschine expansions. I just bought a MPC X, and I've been just stealing the samples from my Maschine library sample by sample, one at a time. This really does make it a lot easier. This is great. I'm also a Push2/Live 11 Suite user, and I haven''t even begun to use Kit Maker for live Drum Racks yet.
I’m so happy to see stuff like this is available. I own almost all of the NI expansions and just ordered a mpc live 2 today and was racking my brain on how I can use my sounds. I was almost just gonna use the new unit only to sample records and do boom bap musicAnd then this video came up now I can do it all. Can’t wait until my unit arrives Thanks for the information
I recently just bought the MPC Live 2 after owning the Maschine MK3 for about 6 months and I thought I’d be wasting money but now I don’t feel so bad. Stand-alone is definitely better, especially since I travel for work. Maschine+ just aint it. But I’m glad that I can use my purchased kits from NI now with my MPC
Ave man you are my new hero! I just did everything you said here (I'm on a Mac) and it definitely works. Downloaded Street Swarm and I'm gonna grab a few more. Any other recommendations?? It's important to go into the Preferences tab in Kit Maker and enable Choke Hi Hats in the Maschine Libararies box if you want your hats to choke in the MPC. Otherwise, you'll have to go in and edit each program manually. There's also an option to Group Toms which I haven't checked out yet, but it doesn't seem as important. Really dope video man. I can't thank you enough.
I'm so glad I saw this right when Native Instruments just had their 9 for $99 deal. OMG having so much fun playing Faded Reels on my live 2! thanks Ave
Great video, going to purchase this tool today. In case you didn’t know, a great shortcut to open an explorer window is windows button then E. It’s a giant timesaver.
Thanks AVe. Dude I been on the fence about getting the LIve II and recently saw it used for $700. I am a Native Instruments Maschine user and had been looking at the Live II for sometime now trying to give myself more reason to get it. lol. This really closed the deal for me cuz I was telling myself I had to much invested to move into the MPC Live II world. For me I dont know if it will sound better per se but it cant sound worse. I 'll have to see for myself. Cheers
I wanna get that MPC live 2 retro so bad ....makes me even more motivated to get back to making beats everyday and brings back memories of when I first started making beats....just waiting on that $600 check they suppose to be sending us!💯
I picked up kit maker last month to convert a few Maschine kits to use in Ableton. Thought it would help with workflow instead of sketching in machine and exporting stems to Ableton. unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. A lot of Maschine expansion packs aren't just samples. Often they can be massive instruments or samples with effects chains so unfortunately you lose some sounds in the translation. This of course doesn't happen in all of them. I also made some random kits by creating kitmaker folders and loading them with some random samples then let it spit out some kits for me. This was pretty cool.
I just got kit maker and I figured out to make all the previews work you have to edit the name in the preview folder so it matches the program name exactly, I tried on street swarm and it played all the previews.
Ave, Samples from Mars site has all their samples from last 7 years on sale for $39, they have high quality samples of old synths and drum machines and rare stuff like soviet synths
Have you tried loading the converted xpm programs on the force? Hoping if works the same if so im copping, thks! now I can actually make use of these NI kits!
I own the maschine mk3 but really want to be standalone. There’s an mpc live for sale second hand in my area, but I haven’t got it as I was worried about leaving behind all my NI software and expansions. Seeing this and knowing I can convert all my ni expansions to work seamlessly with an mpc is honestly so sick! It’ll be a new workflow I have to learn but I think you’ve just finalised my decision on whether or not I should grab this 2nd hand mpc live. I reckon it will be a much better option to grab the live rather than selling my mk3 and getting maschine plus. Any maschine users out there who went on to use mpc, how easy was the transition, and how long did it take for you to feel comfortable that your mpc beats were at a similar level as your previous maschine projects?
Yo Ave how did you update your kit maker? I just opened mine after several months and I don't see any options above in the toolbar to update, and it didn't give me a prompt when I first opened it. Is there someplace on the website that you have to go to first?
When you purchase Kit Maker, you will get a receipt and own the product on Gumroad. You just need to download the latest from the Gumroad website. We also will email all customers when a new update becomes available :)
Good shit Ave. I got a question. How do y'all know where the notes are on the pads? Is it just from playing on it so much, and you get used to it or what? Or is there some kind of way to understand the pads like a keyboard?...SBN RESONATE
I wanted to ask. Are there samples missing from the maschine kits when you turn them into mpc kits(files)? It sounds like samples are missing like on the uncolored pads or is that how it’s laid out on maschine too? There seems like there’s unassigned pads where a sample should belong. Hope you understand what I’m asking in my jumbled question. Thanks.
Okay so I found out not all the samples are there. I really don’t think it’s worth it. I got that stupid street storm or whatever the fuck and it’s just a bunch of drum samples. It’s trash don’t invest in this it’s not worth it at this point is your looking to convert maschine to mpc. Think everyone should know that.
This looks awesome, since this only converts the Maschine kits, do you know of anything that will convert the battery kits? Google's not turning up much of anything. I'm assuming there has to be a lot of goodness in the Battery kits in the NI expansions that have them. I ordered a Maschine Mk3 but Fedex lost it, was a sign I should get the MPC One. I'm curious about what I'll lose if I buy a few NI Expansions (Khalil, Magnetic Coast) and run them thru Kit Maker. Looks like the Battery stuff, but I'm not even sure what's in a battery kit outside of the wavs. I know NI expansions have wavs for everything, but I'm guessing not having the Battery Kits you'll lose something. If you read this and know anything I'm all ears. I think either way I'm probably going to go with the MPC One, but I am wondering about the Battery thing.
Great video. Question, after creating a mpc expansion do I need to keep the samples I used to create the mpc expansion on my hard drive or are the individual samples contained inside the created expansion?
Thank you for the video! I have one question. I convert my Maschine expansion with the Kit Maker as described in the video and also use exactly as shown the MPC Expansion Tool. However, when I then load the individual programs in the MPC software, each of the individual programs always contains the same sounds. What am I doing wrong? Have I overlooked something? I would be very happy about an answer and help! Greetings from Germany!
Dope that Kit Maker now have previews but what do you mean by saying Maschine expansions sound better on Akai MPC? Why do they sound better? And also I guess you still loose all instruments. You only get the samples, right?
Ave, I have a MPD 232. How do they work with the MPC Software? I play keys but I like the vibe I get from pad composing and was wondering if I can make it work in the mpc software or if I should get a dedicated mpc unit like the Renn/Studio/One/Live/X?
I was wondering if I were to use Kit Maker will it get the full samples? When you load up the kit in Maschine they have truncated the sample and you make it longer on the Maschine sample edit. Or will like what the preview gives you when browse for sounds?
Hi Ave. Can you do a video on how to use NI MASCHINES daw to make kits for kit maker with maschines factory drum library. And could it be the easiest way possible to do this because I have no expansions from maschine and I have the MPC ONE. And I find that just the factory drum kits that came with maschine are great!
Hello sir, I have a question for you. Is it possible to convert the MPC expansion to work within Native Instruments Maschine or Battery. Thank you in advance.
So you can still convert the expansions to the One, you just can't host the files from your SD card on the MPC One? That'd just mean you have to have it loaded into the MPC software AND to the SD Card right? Also hope you're doing well Ave. Big ups on still uploading content man.
We've also got another big update coming... 😬 Soon you will be able to drag-and-drop virtually ANY sample pack into Kit Maker and have it instantly process it! Stay tuned!

Do the NI project files work in Ableton? Can you get the NI project files to work in FL?
