I've lived with it for 5 years, finally getting the left hand fixed and then if it goes well, the right. They wanted to see if it healed on it's own first and then pandemic hit. I'm glad they have gotten better at fixing it recently. It seems to be a lot of lifetime habits that contribute to it, not just the classic listed causes. In my case I did the right one day and the left the next. Undiagnosed food allergy that caused minor body wide swelling was in involved.
I have recently discovered that statins can weaken the soft tissue matrix for heals. I opted to not take mine for this reason. Inflammation also causes weak soft tissue damage so I’m eating and anti inflammatory diet now. Good luck!
I have been reluctant to see a doctor, somehow I tore it by clenching my fist when I opened my fingers I flicked water at my cat that was trying to eat food off the counter a couple times after it felt like a rip I heard the pop! I'm barely recovering today after 2.5 months, I was dreading not playing guitar, I tried on n off my middle finger tensed up and knuckle, any updates on your recovery bro?
This happened to me from squeezing on a spray bottle. I hope mine isn’t torn completely. I don’t want surgery 😢it’s looks exactly the same as yours. And it’s been two weeks. My hand is still swollen and the pain is still 8/10.
You’ll need one of these contraptions and to leave it alone for two months. Even then, it might break because you didn’t have the surgery. I would def at least see a doctor and see what they think.
That's exactly what happened to me breaking up a dog fight the other day! I grabbed ahold of my dogs collar exactly how you were describing as my fingers got tighter and tighter clenching into my palm and the strength and pressure from the dogs fighting and me gripping tighter caused the injury. I did not realize I was hurt at first until I moved my hand. I initially thought I busted a blood vessel over my knuckle and quickly realized that was not the case. See my hand surgeon in a few days. How long did it take to heal after your surgery? How was your recovery? A lot of pain? Manageable?
I’m a guitar player, I had this injury happen a week ago when I was mountain biking and crashed. My finger was locking to the side. Some of the inflammation is gone but when I try to play certain chords the tendon is freezing my hand up. I feel like it will heal but I’m not sure. I have 5 gigs on the books this week. Not good. Thanks for the video.
It’s been almost a year. I’m much better and haven’t missed much work as a singer songwriter but it still flares up at times. It’s the slowest healing injury I’ve ever had. I’m thankful it hasn’t affected my guitar playing all that much.
I've had that for as far as I remember, but now it is starting to hurt, so I got here... How long was the recovery after the surgery, to get back to regular activities?
@@chrishamilton3740 I used a splint to elevate my finger a week after I injured it after watching this video. Im on my 4th week now, 2 more to go. So far the ligament doesn’t slip off. But I’ll wait until my 6 weeks of splinting is done until I’ll test the full range of motion. I’ll update the result here. Hope that helps. Thank you for your video
@@AYA-Art17 if you are lucky enough to have caught it before tearing that band completely (as I unfortunately did) then I hope it heals without surgery for you. Keep me updated.
Watched your video, injured my middle knuckle, it was bad. I could see my middle tendon go off to the side every time I close and open my fingers. I injured it during a jiujitsu tournament Dec 18, 2021. After watching videos I did a splint a week later for 6weeks but I extended it to 8weeks. It worked for me. My finger is about 80% back to normal. Slowly strengthening it back to 100%. Thank you for your video (and other TH-cam vids) I was able to do it without surgery! Hope this will help others
Looking forward to the update! Hope all is well. It looks like the same thing as mine, but I don’t know if it’s a rupture or tear. I’m hoping to just let it heal in a splint for 6 weeks.
@MetalDark_xxx666 oh its doing so well now. I didn't need to get therapy. I just wore a splint that the doctor made for about 6 wks. You actually can make it with tape. It was great because it still allowed me to use my hand.

Took about 8 weeks and the pain wasn’t too bad. I can’t stress enough to listen to what your rehab hand therapist tells you to do.
Thanks for the video. How did the surgery go?
Worked. Took a while to get back to normal but I behave now as if it never happened

Two months minimum.
I had this since the 3rd grade I still have it it doesn't hurt but should I check because but I don't feel like operating my sagittal band lol
Yeah I didn’t feel like it neither lol. I would make sure it isn’t compromised.
If it doesn't hurt don't worry about it
Same happened to mine
Did it heal completely for you?

Just did this to myself just flicking something! How is it now? Did you get PT?
