My advice: if you're second guessing your first idea go with the second option. Totally not because I live in Utah but go with the more challenging one. You'll learn, grow and maybe appreciate it later in life
I totally understand this sentiment, but as someone who's moved a lot, I'd say trust your original instinct. Don't jump ship before you give the original plan a chance. This will provide more stability. If you decide then that you're really in love with Utah, you can always come back when you're more financially stable. Sending love
As someone who has experience in both - they are both amazing. However! It really depends on what type of scene/vibe you’re going for. Arizona is hands down my favorite place to be. The food and entertainment, as well as free activities to do indoor/outdoor all year round! The weather year round is unbeatable, you are a 1-2 hour drive to snow and a 4-5 hour drive to the beach. Plus all of the hikes and lakes and rivers right here in our Arizona backyard. You get a great spread of both being in AZ, versus having such a specific climate most of the year somewhere like Utah. Either way, you’ll make the right decision. But first intuition is normally always right 😇 good luck to whatever you choose!
Pregnancy and me were not friends. I have never felt more unwell. It was worth it in the end but it was a nine month exercise in trying to look on the bright side!
My thing is why not just get an apartment for like a year whether it’s AZ or Utah so you can feel it out and see if you really like the state before making such a big decision and purchasing a house.
Something I did when trying to decide between two job offers recently, might help in your decision: make a list of your top 10 priorities for where you live. Don’t think about any location, just priorities. Then rank those 10 in order from most to least important (10- most, 1-least; there’s a reason). Using that priority list as your base, see how many Phoenix checks off and how many Utah checks off. Time to score. If Phoenix checks off priority 10, it gets 10 pts, and so on (number of points matching that priority #). Do this for both Phoenix and Utah. Whichever has the highest cumulative score is your best choice.
As a parent of 3 adult kids, our siblings and their spouses, we all agree we wish we had lived closer to family to foster the grandparent/grandkids relationship. Something to think about 😁
I was going to say the same thing! We have 3 young kids and live close to our families and it has been AMAZING. For us and the kids. It takes a village!!
Only when the grandparents aren’t active and have time to spend with the grandchildren. That was the case for us. We lived close to my parents but they lived in a Avery active retirement community and didn’t have the time except for holidays.
I think you would have to take into consideration a few things -cost of living (which area is more affordable for what you both value most) -which area is easier to visit home (more direct flights. With a child you’ll prefer fewer connections) -which area do you feel you’d have a bigger support system -better activities for children -schools Not sure if that helps. Good luck and best wishes.
Good luck choosing Matt & Abby! I can confirm, this is an extremely hard choice. I absolutely ADORE it in Utah, very friendly warm atmosphere and the views are incredible, if you love there you won’t regret it! But both states are incredible and so much fun! Good luck on your decision! 😊❤️
Don’t move for friends! Move where you feel most at home :) You want to feel fulfilled and happy when its just the 2 (3) of you 😊❤️ Wherever you chose you will love it!
Exactly! You seem more like Utah people to me. I was rather surprised AZ was still on the list. I thought for sure, hands down, without a doubt you'd want to stay close to family, especially with 1 on the way! Family is priceless! I'm sure you can visit friends any time you want. You will have endless support in any location ! Keep It Simple and stay close to family!!!!!
It is not that simple. It is good to have some kind of support network anywhere you live, even more when you are having a baby. You can’t get sitters all the time, unless you wanna be completely “hostage” of your baby/toddler and restrained a lot in your life, having people around that can help you in times of need make life so much easier.
@@fabricio3185 I just meant don’t pick a place for the friends. Life gets busy, their friends in Utah spend half the year in Hawaii. Obviously it is nice to have a great support system, I just meant friends shouldn’t be the only reason you move. Make sure it makes them happy and they feel secure.

You guys are absolutely amazing. This is the kind of relationship that everyone should strive for. Im a mom of 4, had my first at 17 years old. I don’t regret my kids at all, they are my life and my everything but all of my pregnancies were so hard. I basically had to do everything on my own. My last two were emergency c sections and I had to take care of my babies by myself, up every 2 hours throughout the night by myself, after just having a major surgery. Seeing a man like Matt taking care of Abby the way he does is just so heartwarming. Good luck to Abby with her pregnancy. Love you guys.
Ok I love y’all and have loved watching your videos over the past year! My husband and I are expecting our first baby this April and are currently deciding between two places to live as well and it has been so stressful. I cannot tell you how much I have appreciated your realness and openness with making this decision. I literally felt so alone and your videos have been a huge blessing for me right now. Also I grew up in Utah and am definitely bias but it is a great place to live! Good luck with everything and thanks for all that you guys do. :)
It surprises me that y’all would want to live so far away from the ocean/beach after seeing how much matt enjoyed surfing in hawaii! But, I also grew up on Lake Michigan so I can’t imagine not being near water. Good luck making ur decision! That is so scary and exciting at the same time! 💛
Honestly I live in Utah, and even though I say all this and that about it, it is genuinely one of the best places to grow up, if you like the mountains stay more by the rockies, want to stay more south by Phoenix so everyone's happy? Cedar city or st. George are great places to stay, Utah has been seen as an amazing place for kids to grow up including myself, but whatever you guys decide it will be great. Love you guys
I just moved from Hawaii to Utah in August and honestly Utah is so beautiful and the people here are super nice. It has a great community and environment for families.
Massachusetts is a great place to live... I know it's not like any of your options but it's a wonderful place, lots of history and very good education, lots of culd-a-sacks and beaches! But wherever you move is going to be great!!
Utah girl here! I personally love and would vote for Utah! Either option will be a great choice. If you want HOT summers, springs and falls and warm winters, I would move to AZ. You have the beautiful desert. So many fun things to do there! If you want snow, cold, four seasons, wonderful summers (long days and beautiful nights, usually not too hot), I would move to Utah. Seems like you have a great support group in both places! After watching you guys for over a year, I think you would like Utah more. There is so much to do! You can do winter sports in the winter. Hikes are gorgeous about any time of year. You have the beautiful mountains that you get to look at all the time. Southern Utah is not far and equally as awesome! Both are only a quick flight from each other or a long drive. Best of luck in your decisions! I know you will make the best one!
I moved to Utah 3 years ago and if you like to experience all the fun cool outdoorsy things at different times of the year it’s definitely for you. Not to mention it being super family friendly. The skiing and snowboarding is so close during the winter and the summers do get hot! Southern Utah has to be my favorite place to visit since moving here!
If you guys liked Utah in January just wait until you see it in the Spring, Summer, AND Fall. It’s BeUTAHful!!!! The mountains have SO much to offer and there are endless things to do with young kids.
It’s gonna be either a difficult choice or an easy one…I feel like Utah had a lot to do with you guys! Felt (through the screen) more at home..it seemed! Whatever the choice it will be amazing!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ pregnant and sleepy and hungry are really the thing going on till the end (I remember when I was). Love you dudes
So me personally, I would rather be close to family. Especially if you're fixing to have a baby. But you do what works best for you. Either way, excited to see your journey!
You two are so sweet!! Abby, I have not been pregnant but I get terrible headaches and migraines. I don’t know if you wear contacts/glasses already but they have blue light filter glasses that might really help when you’re looking at screens for work/leisure etc. And you should know you are amazing and SO BEAUTIFUL!!
Average rent in Phoenix is 1400. Scottsdale and flagstaff are more pricey. Triple temp in the summer. I think it got to 120-123 last summer. I've lived in AZ for 7yrs so where I live it's pretty nice. Electric goes up in the summer but down in the winter. Lowest in the winter was about 38°f. Your interaction with little Jack was so adorable Abby! You are going to be a wonderful mother!
My husband and I just moved to AZ in October and it’s AMAZING! You get all weather here! You can drive two hours north to Sedona or Flagstaff and have colder weather, pine trees and snow! I will say- living somewhere where you have friends makes a big difference. We had lived in TX for 8 months and didn’t know anyone there and it was really hard. Hoping y’all move to Phoenix! We love all the sunshine 🙌🏼😍☀️
We lived close to family and far away…You can develop a plan while you are far away from family and it will work out. Also, family is typically willing to travel and help out periodically. I’m from Maryland and loved living in Rhode Island. It’s all about finding a balance! You got this!
Good luck with making your choice! I grew up next to Sarah’s parents home, where you guys stayed in Utah, and loved it. I have also spent a lot of time in Phoenix and Mesa Arizona because I have a lot of family there, and I personally prefer Utah and feel very blessed to have grown up here. But Arizona still has a special place in my heart
Move to Utah! Utah summers are so much nicer than Arizona summers. Think of all the fun hiking and outdoor time you would be able to spend with the new baby… plus fall here is beautiful too. I’m 30 weeks pregnant myself and I work as a labor and delivery nurse floating to various hospitals between SLC and Draper. I have plenty of OBGYN or midwife recommendations from a nurse and patient perspective. 👍👍
St. George Utah is the best of both worlds. Warm and still a drive away from the mountains. Of course, being close to friends and/or family is unbeatable.
Arizona is my favorite state. I've lived in 26. It's versatile and just soo lovely 😍 you can have snow ❄ up in the mountains 4 hrs away from the desert 🏜 when you get too hot 🔥 🥵 or when you miss the heat you go back down to the valley to get plenty of sunshine 🌞. You will love it. ❤
Southern Utah (St. George area?) might be a good option. You get the best of both worlds--desert, hiking, National Parks, palm trees, etc. and in a 40 minute drive you have skiing, snow, etc. And gorgeous housing throughout. There's some big TH-camr families down there too. Not too far from Vegas, and in between Salt Lake & Phoenix.
Well, personally speaking, I think my vote goes to Utah. I got really good vibes off you guys there. But whatever you decide, I wish you both all the happiness in the world for you and baby x
My aunt lives in Prescott, Arizona and absolutely loves it. I’ve been to both states and felt immediately in love, thankfully they’re not too far from each other. Both places have their own natural beauty. They are definitely in my top five place to live. Good luck on this journey!
I vote Utah because it's beautiful and I absolutely love it every time I visit. The mountains are breathtaking and the people are so sweet and genuine ❤. But in the end you have to make the choice that is best for you. Good luck😊
Go with Utah! You have all the amazing outdoor activities, but you also get the winter to have different activities. If you’re worried about a doctor, the University of Utah has so many amazing doctors. I lived there for 26 years and would go back in a heart beat if I could!!!
I’m from AZ and currently live in UT! Both are great! Sunny AZ will always have a special place in my heart! Think about going on walks and getting out of the house with a baby! Which sounds more pleasing? It’s so important to get out of the house - even a short walk. Good luck :)
You guys could consider flagstaff AZ! It’s closer to Utah for your friends there but still close to friends in AZ. It also has more affordable housing than Phoenix and has seasons (it snows and people ski up there too). As a side note, both of your communities are so amazing you can’t go wrong. You have to pick what feels like home! But also keep in mind where you would feel the most support through this stage of becoming parents. Things will change and you want to be able to relate to those around you as you grow through this phase. Much love and luck!
You guys are so optimistic that you’ll love wherever you end up! Though if you move to phoenix there is this super cool place called Bam Kazam (it’s called a human arcade and is like an escape room/obstacle course), right outside of Phoenix. Highly recommend if you want a quick adventure! 💛💛
So utah is very family oriented and a good place to raise children. Phoenix is as well but you also have alot more activities here... I've lived in Scottsdale for 30 years and there's always something to do here. Plus year round warm weather. 1 hour away in prescott you can hit the snow or go to the lakes it's very diverse and safe. Lots of great hiking trails too.
Rent is SO high here in Utah. The closer you get to the point of the mountain (Lehi/Draper) or downtown SLC, the more expensive the rent. The place you looked at is one of the most ridiculously expensive places you could have looked at. Provo UT and Ogden, UT, can give you cheaper housing, especially if you find a basement. If you want to have grass in your yard, pick Utah. If you want rocks in your yard for your kids to hurt their hands and knees on, pick Arizona.
I love being able to see you guys go through this, I went through every step of my moms pregnancy with her and it’s not easy, but you guys are gonna be amazing parents!!!
he is literally so amazing like he loves her so much and is so supportive in giving her whatever she needs whenever cause one shes the love of his life and two shes growing a human being. ahhh I'm in love with their relationship!!!
Phoenix is a city that's growing. Will definitely meet a lot of your needs (both personal and professional). The weather is just unbeatable in the winter. If you miss Utah, it's only a few hours of driving from Arizona
Split the difference and land somewhere in between. Like Northern Az. Or Southern Utah, Phoenix is hot and some people cannot handle that climate. Hats off to those of you who do. No. Az is alot cooler, but you also get all 4 seasons without the really cold temps from Utah. The prices are higher in both states right now due to the mass exodus from other high costs states so affordable housing is harder to come by, but there are new developments coming on line all the time. You would want to look at all aspects of the area before you decide. Cost of living overall. House, taxes, HOA fees and restrictions (these can be really and restrictive so know before you buy your home), utilities like electricity for AC in PHX or heating fuel in snow country those costs are rising, food, auto ins., auto gas, medical services avail, also a network of friends or family to help with babysitting or just to connect. Do what is best for your Family and no one else, but do your research on all the costs because you dont want to be caught off guard. Good luck and happy hunting.
honeslty AZ is a great option for family, no snow means no scary drives, no natural disasters and abby hates the cold!! AZ had amazing hiking trails and honestly has the most beautiful sunsets!! and you’re only an hour-2 away from snow if you do ever wanna see it! either one is a beautiful state :)
Speaking as a resident of North Phoenix, I will say that weather is a huge difference between here and Utah. I just adore you guys, so I'd love to see you guys move here, but it's lots different than Utah. Summers here are 116 degrees and the traffic in the metro area is more dense than in Utah. I think Utah is more wide open but certainly much much colder during the winters. Phoenix winters are why I never want to move, unless it's to Hawaii haha!. It's gorgeous in Phoenix about 8 months out of the year and being able to be outdoors is a huge bonus. I have been here for 21 years and I grew up in Ohio and Missouri, so I was used to seasons changing and icy winters. I don't miss scraping my windshield or driving in winter weather. If you choose Phoenix, look for a place with a pool. You and your kids will live in the pool in the summers. Looking forward to watching your next adventure!
My wife and I just spent a while looking for rentals and I totally understand the pain of looking for rentals and especially in Utah there are sooooo many options! We found a lot of options in the lehi/American fork/Saratoga springs areas that we really liked. Wish you guys the best of luck!
Just found your channel. I love watching your guys journey and hope nothing but the best for you! Being a mama is difficult at times but totally worth all the hard work!
I think you both seemed more at HOME 🏡 in Utah. You are all about family, friends, and adventure. I think that if you are second guessing your first choice then there must be a reason. Either way I wish you both the best. Congratulations on your new baby and your next chapter in life…
you should look into Hello Landing! They are furnished and you can stay as long as you like or give them a months notice to move out. You can move across cities or even into a different Landing in the same city whenever you want.
I’ve got to know, Abby what brand is your winter coat?! I’m freezing here in Ohio and currently shopping for a new one. Good luck on the move guys! Hope you’re settled and happy soon!
I live in Tucson, AZ. The summers get old fast but the winters are great. I think you guys should move to wherever your absolute best friends are living. If you aren't going to move where your families are living then you should have some close friends there. That way you will have some support close by.
As someone who lives in AZ and moved here from a cold climate you can’t beat Arizona!! Arizona has some many different landscapes and we even get snow and have mountains! We have two ski resorts, we have Sedona hands down best place! Plus it does get cold here and it’s snowed in the valley before haha doesn’t last long but has happened! 6 hours from the ocean, 2 hours from the mountains, close to Colorado and Utah if you’re wanting to visit lol but Utah is awesome too!! Whatever you decide will be perfect for your family
COME OUT TO AZ WE WILL SUPPORT YOU! If you’re here on the 25th please come say hi…we have 75 young adults and many have done what you guys are looking to do! The baby would thrive in this amazing weather!!! Please please please come out. I moved from Oregon 3 years ago and it was the best choice I ever made!
I used to live in Missouri for a year + have been in Utah my whole life. Utah is perfect for raising a family and having couples that are younger! Sooo many couples are young with kiddos:) I also used to go to high school with the beestons:) go pioneers:)
I've only lived in Europe, but move, where you have a support system. Especially with your firstborn you will need help. Whether it's family or friends, there need to be people you support you no matter what
I live in Utah and feel like you would fit in super well! We get a good taste of all 4 seasons. Snowy winters (great for skiing/snowboarding) and warm summers (great for hiking/camping/national parks, etc.) You’d also fit in well with the culture because there are TONS of young parents here. My husband and I are 22 and have a 1 year old son. People here are very kind and welcoming and there is a big focus on family. But, I know you guys will make the best decision for your family! Love your videos!! ❤️ (p.s let’s be friends if you move here!!)
I got that crepe maker for my wedding! It’s amazing!! Also, I didn’t have an OB until I was 20 weeks pregnant and all went well. So try and not stress too much :)
Abby, you are so pretty! I wish I looked like you! I’m a teenager and I’m super insecure about myself. You seem like a super confident person and a great role model! You are going to be an amazing mom!❤️😭
Before I found out you were expecting I had no idea you knew Sarah & Derek. But here you are with them again here in Utah! How fun! I am voting for Utah!
All I can say is you guys are going to change your mind so many times and mind you once the baby arrives safely 🙏 you guys are going want to live somewhere where family or friends are close to help out feel comfortable. I think sit down and just imagine where if you guys have to be forever in a state or area where would you guys be Utah looks like somewhere you guys are exploring ❤️ good luck
Phoenix is a day trip away from southern Utah, Vegas, mountains WITH snow, mountains without snow, AND the California beaches…so many opportunities for content 😉
Phoenix AZ is BEAUTIFUL! Arizona has sun🌼☀️ pretty much guarenteed! (something crazy like 350 days out of 365 😅) and they also have mountains ⛰! Fresh fruit right off the tree 🌳🍋🍊, GORGEOUS sunsets🌅, awesome trails🏜🌵, palms🌴 etc! But of course excited to see wherever you move to!
Abby! I gotta know your eyelash routine!!!!! Do you use any specific vitamins? Or eyelash serums? What kind of mascara do you use and how many layers? Do you use an eyelash curler? Please I gotta know! Thank you 😊❤️
You guys are such adventurous people and I think that Arizona fits you guys better because you like to be outside and do outdoor things! Not saying that in Utah you can't be outside but you guys like to hike in hot weather and be in the water. You guys would have a blast going to the lake with Jatie and Della! My vote is Phoenix all the way!!!

It stinks because we have such good community in both place
So me personally, I would rather be close to family. Especially if you're fixing to have a baby. But you do what works best for you. Either way, excited to see your journey!
please move to arizona....
😅😅😅
Oh my goodness! Yes!!! I live in Arizona and I love it!! Chandler is where it is at!!
OMG YES!
You should move to San Diego
Move to Va
UTAH IS THE BEST !! I’ve lived here my entire life and still run outside when there are beautiful mountains sunsets!
So jealous of that view
Y'all's energy is just amazing!! Love you guys, honestly makes my day when you post 😊 ❤ ❤
We love you!!
love you all lots!!! praying for you guys and less stress, a smooth move, and a healthy baby, mom and pregnancy 🤍
I'm happy for you all. May you be blessed and feel at peace no matter where you live.
Well, personally speaking, I think my vote goes to Utah. I got really good vibes off you guys there. But whatever you decide, I wish you both all the happiness in the world for you and baby x
I am so excited for y’all. I wish you the best luck. I love you guys so much. Your my favorite people on TH-cam! Congratulations on the baby!!
My aunt lives in Prescott, Arizona and absolutely loves it. I’ve been to both states and felt immediately in love, thankfully they’re not too far from each other. Both places have their own natural beauty. They are definitely in my top five place to live. Good luck on this journey!
TEXAS! The weather, the people, the food, the wide open spaces…it’s truly an amazing place to live!
Watching you guys with Jack😭😭
I'm sure you're gonna be amazing parents Matt and Abby❤️❤️❤️
Utah feels more like the Howard Fam vibes. You both seemed just truly happy and more at ease in Utah. Whatever you choose it’s going to be beautiful!
UTAHHHH do it!!! you will not regret it!! so many adventures within driving distance!! AND its so family oriented!! it"s wonderful.
I hope you guys find a good home to raise your family. Home is where the heart is. God bless your young family. What a lovely couple Abby & Matt. ❤❤❤❤
he is literally so amazing like he loves her so much and is so supportive in giving her whatever she needs whenever cause one shes the love of his life and two shes growing a human being. ahhh I'm in love with their relationship!!!
Wish you guys the best of luck!
my husband and our little fam just moved here from NC and are on the edge of eagle mountain, right next to saratoga springs!
also i’m in high school and me and all my friends watch you guys and look up to you guys and your relationship so much!!!
Can we just stop to applaud Matt’s singing voice!!👏🏼
Y’all are so fun to watch.
Praying for y’all and the baby
COME OUT TO AZ WE WILL SUPPORT YOU! If you’re here on the 25th please come say hi…we have 75 young adults and many have done what you guys are looking to do! The baby would thrive in this amazing weather!!! Please please please come out. I moved from Oregon 3 years ago and it was the best choice I ever made!
We have an event in AZ on the 25th!
I used to live in Missouri for a year + have been in Utah my whole life. Utah is perfect for raising a family and having couples that are younger! Sooo many couples are young with kiddos:) I also used to go to high school with the beestons:) go pioneers:)
Seeing little Buddy Jack on your channel made my day!!!!
I've only lived in Europe, but move, where you have a support system. Especially with your firstborn you will need help. Whether it's family or friends, there need to be people you support you no matter what
Peoria Arizona is really nice and the people are super chill and relaxed It’s a wonderful place with lots of fun things to do
Utah mountains are so beautiful, if you move to Utah be ready for crazy weather, it'll snow like a blizzard then 10 min later will be sunny and hot
You guys are awesome! Whatever works out I bet you’ll be so happy!! You guys remind us of us! ♥️
❤️ (p.s let’s be friends if you move here!!)
your baby is blessed to have such amazing people for parents! 💚
Abby Is beautiful! Matt Is adorable!!! Ya'll are such a perfect couple I'm so happy for you guys ILYGSM!!!!!!
I’m happy y’all are reaching y’all’s dreams and finally living the life y’all always dreamed of 🥰💞
I got that crepe maker for my wedding! It’s amazing!! Also, I didn’t have an OB until I was 20 weeks pregnant and all went well. So try and not stress too much :)
I might be a little biased but I think Utah is better because it's not so hot.
Ok but jack vlogging is the cutest thing ever!
I love you guys! Always ready for your videos! So excited for y’all!! Keeping y’all in our prayers! Much love dudes! ♥️♥️
Good Luck on Moving. May God bless your house and your little Family! Love you guys! Hope everything is going well with Abby's Pregnancy..🤍
Utah all the way! Born and raised here and it’s been amazing. It’s a very family centered place and I’ve always been so close with my family!
AHHH OMG YAY!!!! I LOVE U GUYS SO MUCH AND IM SO PROUD OF YALL!!! ( can’t wait for lil dude ) ahhhhhh
Phoenix is a day trip away from southern Utah, Vegas, mountains WITH snow, mountains without snow, AND the California beaches…so many opportunities for content 😉
Wishing you luck in finding a house, and for Abby to have a safe, healthy pregnancy!
One doesn’t experience self-transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates. 🎈
AZ is warm!! Has mountains. Has snowboarding 2 hours from the valley. 5 hours from the beach!! Lots of hikes, swimming, friends, lakes!!
