Wrong. We need California voters to stop being ignorant. CA voters were chanting defund the police and forced them to get the jab. That in turn made us lose good cops which in turn caused more crime which in turn made these insurance policies too expensive. We gotta start arresting more criminals and lower crime so these insurance companies stay.
Yes. They increased rates because of the crime and home burglaries. That was cause because of higher crime. Californians kept chanting to defund the police and force them to get the jab. Homeowner insurance is optional in California. California does not require it, but you may still be required to have it when somebody else requires it like your mortgage company. Nobody will lend you money if you do not have insurance in case your house burns down and they are left on the hook for a pile of rubble. Once your mortgage is paid off or you don't have one, homeowners are free to not have any homeowner insurance. If there was no home insurance being offered, mortgages will be impossible to get or the rates will be so high to compensate them for the risk of loss. Our progressive democrat government in California needs to stop worrying about transgender bathroom issues and fix our insurance market.
@@boostedmaniac Yes, it is required if you have a mortgage, but if you don't have a mortgage, you don't need to have homeowner insurance. California doesn't require homeowners insurance by law. If you truly believe that insurance companies (IC) are just here after your money, don't buy any! I seem to remember when there was a branch volcanic eruption with a lava flow in your area a number of homes were destroyed by that lava flow. Insurance companies do not like to insure in an area where there is a very high chance of a repeat performance.

Last year my friend crashed my car into another car.. Shortly afterwards, my insurance company asked me if I was willing to allow the insurance company to disclose the limits of my coverages to the lawyer, because the lawyer was asking for it. If this is the case, then I'll just keep my limits at the bare minimum, and not pay the higher premium.
california over regulated and they are leaving it’s that simple. i talked to my insurance company the other day who said their company was leaving but i would be grandfathered in as long as i don’t lapse coverage. the reserves that they have to have are higher than anywhere else. they use that other money that would otherwise be in reserves for investments, they make money on said investments and that helps pay for policies and so on, that was how she explained it. ca is pushing for higher reserves therefore less investment income and so on. it’s like forcing the average person to hold a bunch of cash in their savings and even though they can deploy that cash somewhere else to make money they are not allowed. i would leave too if that were the case. everyone thinks it’s “climate change” it’s not, it’s california doing what it does best. mismanagement in the name of thinking they are protecting people. the road to hell is paved a good intentions and california is single-handedly paving the road.
What they need to do is make it easier to open an insurance business in California and cut red tape so it can beopened up to the free market like before they over regulated it.

All the car theft and break in, all those home robberies, all the retail business theft, etc., insurance companies are losing big time. The results, everyone who isn't a crook, suffers!
We don't need new companies...We need a New Commisioner.
Wrong. We need California voters to stop being ignorant. CA voters were chanting defund the police and forced them to get the jab. That in turn made us lose good cops which in turn caused more crime which in turn made these insurance policies too expensive. We gotta start arresting more criminals and lower crime so these insurance companies stay.
You mean new leadership in California

It's that line of thinking that got you here...What's a new commissioner going to do? Force them to provide services at a loss?

Didn't California say that Climate Change would cause fires and floods? So, State Farm listened.
Blame the Kia Bois for your rates going up. You might not drive a Kia but other people do.
Yes. They increased rates because of the crime and home burglaries. That was cause because of higher crime. Californians kept chanting to defund the police and force them to get the jab. We lost good cops and now there’s more crime and now insurers are saying there’s too much risk in CA. I used to sell insurance. Blame the CA voter.

They have to build pyramids in their backyards and pray to the earthquake gods. That's the California way!
I believe it’s required if you have mortgage.
@@boostedmaniac Yes, it is required if you have a mortgage, but if you don't have a mortgage, you don't need to have homeowner insurance. About 1/3 of all houses in California do not have mortgages (typically houses owned by the same elderly homeowner for many many years). The requirement is not by the state of California, but is required by your lender.
Progressives, i.e. communists, don’t believe in private property ownership. They want to destroy the middle classes and any “American Dream” that remains in California. California doesn't require homeowners insurance by law. If you truly believe that insurance companies (IC) are just here after your money, don't buy any!
If you want or need insurance, California Insider just nailed this issue with their last video. Prices have to go up.
Paradise CA lost 11,000 homes. Only 2115 have been rebuilt so far. More homes are still on the waiting list in Santa Rosa. Since 2019, costs increased by at least 30%. Today, cleanup/rebuilding can easily top $1 million, going up. With an average premium of $1500/year in CA, all IC can go bankrupt if a huge fire destroy any major city in the bay area.
And this justifies a 100% rate increase? Because my insurance just did that. Go somewhere else you say? There is nowhere else!

Insurance companies in California are leaving because of the high cost of fire insurance. I am an old man. I live in northern California. We didn't have bad forrest fires when I was a kid. Logging companies thinned the woods out with their logging of the forest. Environmentalists and the spotted owl stopped much of the logging. The result is that the forests are densely packed, waiting for lightning or humans to cause massive blazes.

Why should insurance companies stay in CA when record numbers of people are leaving?
It makes me respect State Farm even more. Everyone who continues with California has a screw loose.
State Farm decided that they didn’t want to write Home Owners Insurance in Florida. Our Insurance Commissioner told them that they couldn’t write car insurance then. State Farm then continued to write Home Insurance, but jacked their rates up to where it was unaffordable for most.
Meanwhile dozens of small Florida companies are now operating where there were none.
I was eligible for USAA insurance upon my commissioning as an officer in the US Army in 1970. I have been with them for 54 years. I have all my insurance with them. They are a good company to have insurance with. They have covered me all over the world and now, my farm in southern Ohio.
Can't get insurance where I live on the Big Island Hawaii due to volcano and lava zone hazard
That’s about right
I seem to remember when there was a branch volcanic eruption with a lava flow in your area a number of homes were destroyed by that lava flow. Insurance companies do not like to insure in an area where there is a very high chance of a repeat performance.
So they want to force companies to sell a product? That's not how free market works. Reduce costs associated with contract work, reduce costs and time associated with permitting, and at the state level work towards reduction in risks (specifically fire and theft risks).
Last year my friend crashed my car into another car.. Shortly afterwards, my insurance company asked me if I was willing to allow the insurance company to disclose the limits of my coverages to the lawyer, because the lawyer was asking for it. That in and of itself gives lawyers a free pass to see the maximum they can litigate for, which is non-sense.
