Have you traded in any more Craftsman tools at Lowe's. I asked and they told me that they had to be purchased within 30 days. I'm going to take them inside store and see what happens.
No, not since the video. I’ve never heard of that 30 days policy. It’s probably just gonna depends on the person at the register when you get there. Good luck, and let us know what happens.
Went to Lowe’s near me and they would not replace it with one exactly the same they said I’d have to call craftsman, went down to an Ace Hardware near me they said they wouldn’t do it either went to another ace near me and they said they would replace it with one that was equivalent to that they only had one they said they won’t give me the one they have in stock they have to order one for me this sounds like a crock to me they no longer make a 3/8” inch ratchet 44811 They no longer make I found one that was exactly the same but 2 inches longer and the first two places gave me problems with that
Hello Richard William. Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the exchange. I don’t understand why Lowe’s wouldn’t swap it out. As far as I know, they are supposed to. However, before I went myself, I did hear a couple people had to call the 1800 number. A gentleman left a comment on here that he had to call the number, and they ultimately sent him something extra, so it worked out for the best. I don’t know what’s going on there. Maybe it has to do with the cashier. Well, thanks for leaving your experience here for others to hear. Also, thanks for stopping by the channel. Oh yea, I was also told that you can do it through their website also. I wish you all the luck Richard.
Just curious did you get the others warrantied? I just had some more stuff warrantied the ratchets that are raised panel are rough on the edges still and I’m hoping they machine them better when everything gets back to the USA. And the Taiwan made clear handled screwdriver doesn’t feel the same as the old USA ones but honestly I’m happy I have useable tools now again. Didn’t have to return the old ones going directly through them I’m just happy they are taking care of customers. The sockets they sent me last time were Taiwan made too and have been holding up well over the last month of professional use again I’m just happy I have useable tools.
Hello Blake, I’m glad you got the others switched out, and the new ones are working out. No, I just haven’t had the time to switch out the other ones yet. I know what you mean about the screwdriver handle. Remember, one of the things I switched out was a nut driver. It’s just not the same as the USA made. You said “when everything gets back to the USA”. Is craftsman coming back stateside? That would be great.
@@atomsworkshop195 Yes they are supposed to be back by the end of the year they were supposed to be back in 2020 but things changed so now they plan to be back by the end of 2021. The main factory will be in Texas. They are supposed to be building many factories around the USA too. They already have some and they are building one in my state of Virginia too according to the Craftsman website.
That’s great. I had to call them directly to get a replacement socket mine had them in stock but said they can’t warranty Sears Craftsman so I had to wait. Then my friend cracked a socket took it to the other Lowe’s and they warrantied it so I think it is based on the location or person. So if I break another I’m taking it to the other Lowe’s.
Sorry to hear that Blake. Yea, I think it’s the person. The lady that rang me up didn’t even touch any of the tools I was returning, or any of the new ones I was getting. I set them all on the counter, with the new ones barcodes facing up, and she just started scanning. Good luck to you the next time you go. PS, I did go on the weekend early evening, and there was a long line at customer service. That might be the key.
@@atomsworkshop195 true. The cool thing is since I forgot to tell them it was a 6 point socket they sent me both a 12 and 6 point deep 15mm replacement which I thought was really cool. I seen another video on here of them forgetting to send someone’s tool so they sent them the tool with another full set of tools which I found great. I think they are trying to gain back customers they would of otherwise lost with the move to China and Taiwan.
Blake Waddell, that’s great, can’t beat that. Yea, I agree with you about trying to gain back customers from the switch. On that note; everything I got the other day says Taiwan except the smallest wrench said China. I have to say, I do really like the 1/4 ratchet with the small head. It’s a nice little ratchet. Maybe I’ll call that number to swap out my other wrenches, and see what happens. By the way, how does that work. I’m guessing you email them pictures of the old tools, then they send the new ones. Is that about right?
@@atomsworkshop195 I just called them. They didn't even ask for pictures and then they told me to be looking for the UPS truck to arrive in 7-14 days or sooner. Can't beat that.
Sorry to hear that Arthur. I think I might have just got lucky with the lady that rung me up. She didn’t really look at anything. Basically just said ok, scanned the new ones, took the old ones, and gave me a receipt. Maybe you could try another location. Or even the same store, but at a different time of day, with a different cashier. Good luck to you.
Hello karu chvz, thanks for stopping by. When I get home this evening, I’ll check to see if I have a recording of that with the ATO1104. I feal like I’ve already made a couple videos of that. It is possible I got frustrated during editing, that I just never posted them. If I still have some video of it, I’ll try to post it tonight. If not, I’ll try and get a video out just as soon as I can. I’ve been a little busy lately, so please bare with me. I know when you watch a video, it seems like it was simple and quick enough to make, but I’ll tell you my friend; once you start making them, you realize how long it actually takes. I won’t go into it all but it can be hard getting the lighting and everything right, so when you watch it, you can see the screen. Unfortunately, I haven’t been successful “yet” on using say the scope screen recording during playback of the video. Once I figure that out, I should be able to make better videos. Anyway, yea I’ll try and get that out as soon as possible. I’ll use the ATO1104, and show the presets and everything on how to get a nice waveform. Thanks for the suggestion.
It’s not the best video, but the waveforms look good. I lost some video of when I was explaining using the ruler, but I still wanted to get it out to you. I hope it’s not too long. Thanks for the idea Karu.
Hello Josef. It’s hard to say. From talking with other people, I think it just depends on what cashier you get. A couple of the ones I returned, originally were rusty, but I soaked them and then scrubbed the rust off. Unfortunately, I guess I let them soak too long, and scrubbed too hard, that all the Crome finish came off. I guess my cashier could care less, because she didn’t even pick them up and look at them. She scanned the new ones, and I think counted the old ones, printed a receipt, and sent me on my way. She didn’t even touch the old ones until I was walking away. I say try it, and if they refuse, go back when there’s a different cashier, or try another location.
Im sure you can get creative and break them! Back in the day when the tape measures used to have a lifetime warranty we used to take tin snips and cut the tip off so we could return them when they got beat up.
“Accidents” do happen, lol. Yeah, it used to be a lot easier to swap out broken Craftsman tools. Years ago, in about the late 90’s; I worked at Sears, in the tool department. It was basically no questions asked. Customer comes up to counter with one old ratchet and one new ratchet, tells me his isn’t working, I scan the new one, drop the old one in a box or drawer, and say “have a good day”. That was it. Maybe I would confirm the ratchet wasn’t working, but it was that easy. Today, not so much. I’ve read where a lot of folks have problems swapping them out. Some have been told to do it through the mail. I don’t know. Milwaukee anyone? lol. Thanks for the comment Werd Lyfe.

They're supposed to warranty them. That's the deal that Stanley Black and Decker made when they bought them.
I thought I read something like that a little while back, but couldn’t remember for sure. Thanks for the info Tool In Hand
