So by reading Koleeberks personal Emails under section 43 the copper is actually committing an offence under the data communication act 2018 because he's only allowed to look for images under section 43 he could quote section 58A possibly to look at emails for information but that would be sketchy ground I think.
Officers have the power to view digital images contained in mobile telephones or cameras carried by a person searched under S43 of the Terrorism Act 2000 to discover whether the images constitute evidence that the person is involved in terrorism.

In my 30 years in supermarket retailing, I’ve encountered so many arrogant and bullying supermarket managers who either were previously and/or went on to join and/or had relatives in the police, army, council, prison service or other public bodies who abused their positions of power to bully others due to their serious attitude problems, (who were mainly committed leftists and corporatists) where they saw and regarded anyone who did not totally take and accept their bullying behaviour as being “freaks and weirdos with mental health issues” - they would tell people that they “did not have a leg to stand on” and that “on a common sense basis” and “in their infinite wisdom” they “did not have any right to make any comments on any issues” and they very often sent their police friends around to further bully and intimidate them - this has been hard wired into the police for generations and it’s never going to change any time soon

I remember being infuriated with this one when I originally saw it, and a re-watch a few years later now hasn’t made it look any better. The list of mistakes the officer made here is extensive. Ultimately this was an abuse of legislation just to snoop through his phone in a vein fishing attempt. Utterly shameful behaviour - and for his fellow officers just to watch their colleague fall into a massive civil claim and do nothing is equally as shameful.
This was an abuse of power from an exceptionally poor officer with no emotional control and an oversized ego.

Today's police force is a government paramilitary to enforce political dictates and generate revenue via fines & penalty`s, not for them tackling criminals when they can sit on a computer catching grannies misspeaking on face book or cruising around in a flash motor nicking car drivers for going a tad over the speed limit.

The fact that this is not done is a bit of a mystery and I wonder if it is just not on the radar of the powers that should not be.
I suspect that it is part and parcel of the authoritarian concepts that underly the culture of control by the exercise of power over people by demand instead of sensible application of persuasion.
It is of course very difficult to sustain the notion of government without acceptance of those 'principles'.
