    Your KLR maintenance videos are always great. You showed that this is not complicated (I thought so before) I will do it on my Tracer and KLR. Thanks

    That was a awesome video. I got one of those tools and it is great on everything motorcycles, snowblower, lawnmowers, and bicycles. Everyone near is wanting me to lube their cables

      Yup I did the snow blower clutch cable with it this winter actually. It's a neat little invention that's for sure. Cheers brother.

    Great little tool.👌
    My clutch cable needs regularly lubrication because the previous owner put stiffer clutch springs and its takes at least 3 fingers to pull the clutch to change gear. So by lubricating it regularly helps the situation.
    So I may order this little thing.
    Thanks for this video my friend.

    maybe after 19 years of riding my xr650 i should lube the cables eh :D Yep.... never really done it properly. I tend to use
    things until they fail, then fix them.

      It's a messy job for sure, so it's not really one anybody looks forward to doing, lol. I think I'll actually pick up some spare cables here soon, just in case.

    • @IslandADV
      @IslandADV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This actually happened to me this winter. Check out the throttle cables down by the carb. You may have a frayed cable. On mine, there was one fray that prevented it from snapping back. Every time the cable tried to go back into the sleeve, the little frayed piece stopped it.
      New throttle cables are super easy to install.

    Great video! Guess I have a problem with my throttle. I followed your video but the throttle still sticks and doesn't close by itself. I bought the bike used and it was like that when I got it. I think the outside rubber throttle end is rubbing on the end piece. I thought I could take that off to adjust but the hard end won't come off...any suggestions? Thanks for a very helpful video!

    • @IslandADV
      @IslandADV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're very welcome brother. You're right, it might be too close to the bar end and getting pinched up. Try loosening up the clamp on the left where the cables connect and move the throttle up away from the bar end. If that fails, check the cable tensions and make sure the return side is allowing it to close at the carb. If THAT fails, check the action on the lever on the carb itself to see if that is sticking. And If all else fails take 'er in, lol. Cheers brother.

    Thanks for the tips and info! That's a lot cleaner than the way I did it in the old days' 😂 Cable lube tool, Ordered! My choke cable seems a little stiff, did you go with a choke cable eliminator?
    Or, do you think this tool will help with lubing that as well?

    • @IslandADV
      @IslandADV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man, I fear the choke cable, lol. I'm not sure if the lube tool would help there. For me, I think I'm going to go with the eliminator eventually.

      @rabidadventures 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some mixed reviews, but I agree, the eliminator seems to be the way to go 👍

    Just rebuilt my carb and now my throttle sticks, tried this and its even worse, do I just need to adjust the cable tension in the carb?

    • @IslandADV
      @IslandADV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not inside the carb, but on the valve lever outside, where the cables attach, there should be an adjustment there. I would not take that lever system off the carb though. I hear it's tricky to get back on. Also try giving the cables some lubrication. That could free them up a bit.
      Good to hear you got the carb all done.

    • @valdemar7337
      @valdemar7337 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IslandADV yeah, the carb was a pain in the ass with the crash bars on the side, tried taking them off but they were too tight on the bike. I did lube the cable on the top and tried a bit near the carb. So the small nuts on the side of the carb is the "adjustment part" so to speak

    • @IslandADV
      @IslandADV  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's should be it. Take a search around for some videos. There's got to be a good one out there for it. You'll get it.

    WD 40 not Cable Lubrication. It Dry to fast.

    • @IslandADV
      @IslandADV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. I've heard people go both ways on this one though. Some say only lube and no WD, others the opposite. I like a bit of both. It works very well for me. Almost like cleaning a rifle: Clean, Lube, and Protect.
