The amount of people who buy thick leather boots but then are surprised when they are uncomfortable when they've barely walked a mile in them is baffling.
@wyomarine6341As someone who likes OT Rebilacs (fairly standard Japanese running shoes), I can say that the African Rangers OOB feel very comfortable. They're a tad bit stiff before break-in, but I think the extra height and added sole might be working against the Razorback. Not sure why people who want more comfort are opting for a rugged mid-top work/hiking boot. ARs are the way to go for a sneaker-like leather low-top boot.
At last, a company actually reading its reviews what a bloody good idea, listening to the customer is the only way your products will improve and hats off to you for doing it. well done Jim Green
Don't worry bro, I'll leave you a 5 star review as soon as I get off work today. Jim greens are one of the best values in the boot market EDIT: Thought this comment could use some context as it could be read as me just saying I'll 5 star for no reason. I've had my razorbacks for over a year and wear them every other day at work. I swap between them and my thorogoods to not wear them out too fast. I just hiked mt mitchell in north carolina last weekend with the razorbacks and i couldnt ask for a better boot for wooded and rocky terrain. I mean it when i say they're one of if not THE BEST value in boots out there.
I am excited about that cap toe razorback, with what I think is a leather midsole. So far I haven't had any issues with the synthetic one you have been using, (I have a pair or razorbacks and African Rangers) but long term I'd expect the leather to be even more comfortable.
Some people simply dont understand that a boot...any boot..is not going to feel like a sneaker. If it does feel like a sneaker then it probably wont last very long for its intended use. Break in period is something that all quality footwear requires, 30 mins is about 29 days and 23 1/2 hours short of a break in period😂
That’s how I got mine. I ordered them from Amazon. Exited, and waiting for them to arrive. I was so thrilled when finally got here. I’ve worn nothing but Red Wing heritage boots (1907, 877, and 10875). My Razorbacks are a welcome addition. They are so comfortable, and easy to break in. I can’t wait to order the African Rangers. Thanks Jim Green for an awesome pair of boots.
@@NDynamite409 if you haven't tried the Vellies they are very good and have a crape sole great for office work. Probably my favorite. Love the razorbacks but me wearing them is like a mom being a 4x4 mall crawler in her $80k jeep.
Said this before but love the openness of Jim Green as a brand. I also want to say how much I love the wide toe box of Jim Green boots. With so many other brands having uncomfortably tight boots, Jim Green's wide fit is so refreshing. Also, patiently waiting to get a pair of the boots 3:29 Gareth keeps teasing lol.
That new style would probably do really well as a work boot here in the US. Looks like something I or my dad would wear back when we did concrete work. Steel toe not necessary but reinforced toe preferred. On the subject or break in. I've been wearing my new African Rangers on my days off around the house. Was pleasantly surprised that the PU footbed is now included. It also feels like these are much more accepting of aftermarket inserts than my other boots. I don't care if the toe box looks wide, I only care about stopping my nails from getting ingrown due to my toes being squished.
This video is a great idea. I love to see that a brand is paying attention to its customers. I work on concrete 8-10 hours a day with usually 10+miles, and I won’t lie, wearing my Razorbacks has been quite tough. Very sore feet, very tough sole. Buuut, I’m now a couple days in and I can already feel that the comfort level is getting better. Very excited to see where these go and when I feel I’ve fairly broken them in, I will definitely add an Amazon review. So far, love the craftsmanship and the toughness of the boot. I am constantly kicking very heavy things to move them slightly, pulling things behind me which I’ve hit my heel with a cart that weighs ~1,000 lbs, walking through snow, bags of concrete spilling on me, dropping lumber and other things on my feet and these suckers just feel like they can take it all. So far, knowing that there would be a break in period, I’m very pleased with them and so excited to see how they work even further!
I LOVE My Jim Greens - I have a pair of Razor backs and I cant wear them enough.. I love them. I also have a new pair of African Rangers and I am breaking them in. I love them as well and they get better every time I wear them. AWESOME!!!!!!
I ordered my rangers a half size up and broke them in wearing heavy hiking boots. No blisters which is typical for me breaking in shoes/boots. I love them. The wide toe box is great for anyone with a medium width or greater.
@@nathana.2913 Im a 12m shoe size and I wanted to ensure I could wear heavy socks. Im older so I akso may not be a true 12 either. If they ran big I would just give them to my size 13 son. That was my thinking. I would agree Id go true to size ordering. They have a US distributor so they are returnable if they don't fit properly. Im going to grab vellies next.
I love that you're reading the good and bad reviews! Good for you! My Razorbacks killed my heels for about two weeks. I stuck with a methodical process of breaking them in. I'm so glad I did. After the break-in period I have a rugged and economical boot that is EXTREMELY comfortable. Mine should last me many years. I just treated them with Obenauf's for the upcoming fall and winter seasons! I can't wait to get back out onto the trail!
I've had my greens for over 2 years now and they are my favourite pair of shoes by far. Love them even more now because of how tough and comfortable they are.
I own 20 plus pairs of boots.....Nicks, White's, Red Wings, Thursdays and 4 pairs of Jim Greens (2 pair of Vellies, African Ranger and Razorback)....with that said, my JG's are great overall values......my vellies are great to kick around in.....the rangers are great to wear in rough conditions and my razorbacks offer great support, with soft ankle and vamp padding while hiking. My biggest gripe w all the JG's are the midsole s (fiberboard???) And insoles (thin, cheap leather?).....I think I speak for most Americans......we are willing to drop an additional $40 or so, on all models for a leather midsole and quality leather insoles IMO.
Thanks for the feedback and support, much appreciated. Later in 2024 we will look to add on limited runs of all leather midsole boots. We recently came out with our all leather midsole boot, the Numzaan, which will be a stock item by Feb.
I remember a pair of leather cowboy boots I got. Put them on, I could have them on for like 10 minutes, after that my feet SCREAMED at me, like I've never had such pain from a pair of shoes/boots before. But I kept at it, and after a few weeks they were amongst the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever worn. Leather needs breaking in, endure the process and reap the rewards!
i work in a fabrication shop where we are standing on concrete all day and we need safety toes. i know i could custom order it but i wish you guys would offer the steel toe razorback with a wedge sole as normal stock. i think it is strange that there are two sole options and several colors for the normal razorback but only one configuration for the steel toe.
I got the Razorback for casual hiking. I love them! I don't wear them much, and I remember the break in period, it really wasn't that bad. I love them so much I just got a pair of the new all black African Ranger with wedge sole for my office job. They look super nice for office work and have all that toe room! It's just unfortunate that here in America, people don't understand boots as much. They don't understand different outsole for different purposes, they don't understand break in periods. Everyone just wears running shoes and thinks that's the pinnical of footwear. If it's not a squishy memory foam pad that dies out in 6 months, they want nothing to do with it.
I just got my razorback steel toes. I am not disappointed at all. Especially the toe box. I put in an insole that I like. They are rubbing a bit of a blister on one of my feet, but I am happy about that. I have broken in enough boots to realize that the stiffer and more unforgiving they are out of the box means they won’t end up all stretched out with a worn out sole after several months. I will be buying Jim Green boots from now on.
Here is my review... 5* hands down the best value boot you can buy. Good quality leather and craftsmanship. Resolable, but good luck wearing through them! For most people these will need a break in period. The insole is removable giving a rare option for boots like these. Here is the negatives, when YOU look down they look clownish but your feet will thank you. Also you'll go broke buying every every boot model they offer.
The razorbacks fit me perfectly (after taking advantage of Amazon's free returns til i got the right pair). You were one of the only companies to make a 13.5 size. The only issue is the high heel causes my back to spasm if i wear them for more than a few miles. Because of this, i have a pair of your barefoot rangers on the way and cant wait to try them out! I hope you expand your barefoot line. That market needs someone with an honest, high quality, durable offerings like yourselves to reset the bar.
Put on hiking socks, only use around house till comfortable. Wash with Saddle Soap, let dry for 24 hours. Get a good leather boot conditioner, let that sit for 24 hours. You spend a lot of time at home and all heritage style boots mold to your foot. After a week or so you won't need the thick socks.
I was an early buyer of the ranger, just ordered the razorback. I'll have to fix the insoles myself bc I plan on using it for work. But as far as price to durability is unparalleled. But man, if I knew you were coming out with that new style I would have waited. Please make them in all black.
I am amazed that you are actually reading the reviews since Amazon has such a bad reputation for false reviews. I would like to try the Barefoot boot one day.
Any plans on having a wedge sole steel toe razorback? That would be perfect for us factory workers out there. I might end up getting a thick foam insole and getting these boots even though I stand on concrete all day
Love the look of these boots! Any chance of European Amazon sales and/or ball of width specific imperial/metric measurements being made visible for different sizes online to aid in choosing boots? All the best to you all!
Razorbacks are my go to beater boots. Got them a few years back and the break in was horrendous. Now that I’m past it, they’re pretty great. When I got them, they were only offered with the original lug sole and it is garbage. Traction is perfectly adequate, over all height of the sole is very nice. But there is no shock absorption and they’re still extremely hard underfoot. I will have them resoled at some point, but I love the boots as a whole too much to part with them to get the work done. Now that they’re offered with other sole option configurations, they are a no-brainer. Go forth with confidence. Cannot wait for some baobabs
Yep, I got blisters on my heels also when I started to break my Razorbacks in. I also found them to be a bit "hard" under foot so I changed the insoles, put band aids on the blisters and continued to wear them. It took about a month but the effort was more than worth it. That was about three years ago when you were just starting to sell in the U.S. and these boots have become my favorites. I too wish more folks would take the time to really give a product a chance before they decide to give it a low score. I love me Razorbacks. And my Vellies too. ;^)
Just got my first pair of Jim Greens after watching Wes's review. The Razorbacks are a terrific value and so far I'm dedicated to pounding out the break-in with the factory insole. Definitely planning to get the Baobabs next! Thank you for the great footwear!
I really like the D-ring lacing system on the Razorback. D=rings are much easier to clean, help laces lie flat and keep dirt and debris out of he boot. I wish this lacing system could be brought to more boots such as the African Ranger and the Baobab.
Thanks Gareth! This is a fair and honest admission of reviews! However, some of the reviews are less than fair! Don't they know any boot needs breaking in? And don't they look at the toe box shape before buying???That;s the first thing I look at before deciding....smh
I just got my 1st pair of Jim Green boots. I wore them for about 4 hours with no undue pain. Just a little discomfort from beginning the break in... The razorback seems to be perfect in construction and looks. I grew up in cowboy boots, tennis shoes and kletter type heavy hiking boots. I have very high arches and 4e wide feet that are extremely difficult to buy for. To make matters worse I have a severe hammer toe and also neuromas in both feet. I had to adjust the lacing and the tinge position a couple of times during that 4 hours, but that's to be expected. I'm sure that barring any unseen flaws these will remain in my daily lineup of footwear. Thanks! 👍👍
Love my Razorbacks, but I have to say that the fudge coloured ones are quite a bit more comfortable because of the softer outsole. Especially on harder terrain such as concrete or rocky ground. Still, they are my daily drivers for 3/4 of the year and I love them.
The new as of yet unreleased boot looks like a Baobab with smooth leather and a hard rubber sole. It looks strikingly like a Canadian Mk 3/4 military boot made by Wm. Lennon. I've been wearing my Baobab"s a lot lately and am really liking them Yeah, they do take a lot breaking in, but starting to reap the rewards. I look forward to recieving it's new family member when it is up and running. How soon till it comes out?
These have always been and always will be my favorite boots. Owned a few pairs for 10 years. They will always be the boots I can wear anywhere that I can depend on.
Hats off for making this video. All fair points as far as I’m concerned. I received my Barefoot African Rangers this week. Wish I would’ve gone maybe half a size down, but that’s a risk you sometimes take ordering online. The build quality looks very good. Love the fudge leather. The finishing could be a tad better, but who cares if not all lines are as sleek… For the amount of money, you make an excellent product. Too bad the shipping fees and import duties are this high :-). Would love to try on other pairs. Greetings from the Netherlands!
I rec’d my Razorbacks from Amazon and they are quality. I got a blister (first time ever) but I expected it with the materials. So going to keep working them and once the boot is more broken in then i will leave a review. I went into it knowing that I needed to break in the boot and actually have ordered some AfricanRangers as well (still waiting on those) so definitely trust the brand and really love the wider toe box.
Thanks for the support! We look forward to the feedback ahead with your boots once they have broken into foot. Please do get in touch should you have any questions along the way and we shall happily assist 🐸🐸
Just bought a pair and they are stiff but still pretty comfortable new. I am sure they will only get better as I break them in. I will say I did replace the insoles from the very beginning which may be why I feel they are comfortable out of the box. They seem to be built like a tank so I am very pleased about this. I am done with Keen boots as Keen boots seem to have gone down in quality. If these last and stay comfortable Jim Green will have a new life long customer.
Thanks for the support and great feedback! We look forward to hearing the journeys ahead that you and your boots shall head on! Please do not hesitate to get in touch should there be any questions along the way 💪💪
@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial 6 months in and they are awesome boots. I now own 3 pairs of Jim Greens. The Razorback, the Vellies, and recently a pair of Shoellies. I am extremely happy with all of them, so much so that I tell my friends about them. All of them feel a bit tight at first but after break in they are the most comfortable shoes/boots I have owned. I love my vellies the best so far. I put some lace locks on them and they are so easy to slip on and off, because of this they have become my main footwear. They show very little wear after 6 months of everyday use and are extremely comfortable. Keep doing what you're doing and you have a new lifelong customer. The African Rangers are next on my list.
I love every single one of my Jim Green Boots. You can’t beat the quality for the price. I have flat and wide feet, so out of the box they fit perfectly. I can’t wait for the new boot to come out.
I have had the Razorbacks for 4 months, part of a rotation, I do construction work. 1. My feet are EE, so they fit. 2. I have nice insoles in all of my boots. 3. I have 10 pair of boots and like I said I rotate them and have special boots for the day as in rainy or cold. I am doing the Razorbacks in a faster rotation. They are decent boots and I would buy them again. I am not a fan of the rubber soles, they are not bad, but looking forward to wearing them out and putting Vibram on boots.
Just ordered my first ones and hope to get them in a few days. The price point looks great! Been using RedWing for the past years $200+USD the model similar to these, I'm not getting a year out of them. Before the RedWing's would last me 2 years. Just wish the Razerback's were totally waterproof.
@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial I just received my Razerback boots, I normally wear 9.5 US in RedWings, Ariat's & Skechers. The 9.5 US Razerbacks seem a little larger, I can put my finger between my heel and the the boot heel. Will these tighten up after break in or should I return them for a Size 9 US. I'm using try before you buy and have 5 days to return/exchange.
I just started breaking in my second pair of African Rangers. Started feeling a little bit of friction on my heels (of course because I put them on out of the box and did my typical hike of 4 miles with 1000 feet of elevation gain). No big deal. Slapped a couple of pieces of duct tape on my heals and did the same hike the next day. My first pair broke in quickly and I’m sure these will too. Just love the brand and the boots.
Razorbacks, got em on sale I love em. Only part that feels cheap is the padded collar, it could use a firmer foam and a perhaps thicker leather around the collar. It feels thin and might wear. But its interesting the way it is stitched, its possible to actually stitch a new heel collar on if need be ever. But the one piece uppper is basically cut like a sneaker, and the added enforcement of the padded collar is what converts its to a boot. Its a very good design. Not quite sneaker, not quite boot, right in between...Very good design for a middle/heavy weight boot. The last is generous and allows toe splay...Clown shoe...yup...who cares its good for the foot, comfortable. Perhaps a leather heel counter would be nice, the thermoplastic/resin heel counter does soften up and is flexible but it doesn't quite have the same comfort as leather. The jim green black lugged sole is very hard rubber, very nice feels like it will wear greatly. Heel blisters are quite likely because the heel counter area is narrow and tight, somebody with bigger boney ankles is probably going to need a more custom EEE width. I find different socks affect heel blisters. However the last has a wide toebox with a narrower heel pocket area. This is going to work great for many people and not others. My only suggestion if possible, switch the lasting board to a flexible but durable rubber midsole...it would provide better water resistance and more shock absorption. I'd love to see the barefoot shoe done with a rubber midsole and forgo the multi layered construction, it makes more sense to have a fully flexible durable midsole. The laces aren't that durable but they can be changed. I removed the laces so I could condition the boot, it caught my fingernail and I tore the threads out rendering the laces worthless...Paracord or leather for me :) The stock insole is very perfectly cut to fit...there is a small heel pad, one can easily modify that by gluing a thicker piece of neoprene/foam to add more cushion. I will put the lasting board through its paces and see how it holds up. If they can be re-soled once for the 145$ a pair price point that would be fantastic. A slightly thicker rough out leather would probably be much appreciated for work boots.
I have a boot for every occasion. Danners, Salomons, Wolverines(not the made in China ones either).....high quality boots, break in is nesscesry. That said, ya'll are my next boot purchase. The Razorbacks look like the perfect old school Rocky Mountain boot
I guess I'm just a Jim Green fanboy.....I love my Vellies and my Baobabs. Yes, the Baobab is a little rough the first bit while breaking in, but most of us get that just the process. Thanks for reminding me, I'll be wearing them to the office today! Keep doing what you're doing.
Another great video, and I am glad that you address these reviews. I’ve read many a reviews of many good products, and come to the conclusion that people do not understand the review process. Yes, the Razorback is a monster of a boot, I am proud to be a very long standing customers and currently have 2 pairs of them, one with lug soles, one with wedge sole. Break in usually takes 2-3 days, it is worth every moment of initial little bit discomfort; but the Razorback is second to none. All my staff members get a pair of Razorback Safety Boots on their first day.
This is why I want to see and feel the different styles before picking a pair or style I like. For now I'm looking for a pair that I can wear to the office and for casual and should I choose to can go for a hike in them
Love my Razorbacks. My favorite hiking and general outdoor messing 'round boots. I did add a Keen insole to make them a bit more comfortable and took the nice quality felt and leather insole they came with and put them in my loafers. The toe box shape is unique, and along with the body of the boot being made of a single giant of giant leather, is one of the things I like most about them. They've done the Ape Caves twice and been all over the PCT in all weather and held up great.
GREAT VIDEO. I love it when a company is open and willing to address criticism. Several things I want to point out as I'm sitting here in my Fudge Stockmans with the honey sole after working on my feet all morning in them. When I first bought the Stockmans, I bought the wrong size. The return process was easy and FAST. There should be no excuse for anyone to have to deal with an ill-fitting boot, so for the people complaining about sizing and comfort, if you don't like them, return them, and try another size / model. That's not a reason for a poor review. The Fudge Stockmans with the honey sole were very easy to break in, I think it took maybe a week? Great boots, I love them. I've also got a pair of Baobab boots. When I wore them the first time, my feet hurt. The second wear there was a little pain. By the third wear, the pain was gone, but you could tell that they were going to need a fairly long break-in process. After about four months of wear, they are fantastically comfortable. As the "clown shoes" comment, the wide toe box is FANTASTIC for me, I've got wide feet, and a toe disfigurement from a fracture that healed improperly. I've received nothing but positive comments on the look of the Stockmans. The Baobab has a more almond shape toe, so if they don't like the "clown shoe" look, go to the Baobab. I look forward to the new offering - as a big fan of the honey sole on the Fudge Stockmans, I hope the new offering has a honey sole option as seems like the honey sole is a little softer than the normal black sole?
Solid video, Gareth. I appreciate how you guys pay attention to customer input. I’ve had a pair of African Rangers for almost 2 years and love them. Ordered a pair of Razorbacks today and can’t wait.
Just came across this vid, as I'm eagerly anticipating my Buffalo African Rangers. As a former FBA seller, I learned not to get too hung up on product reviews after a while, unless the negative review is extremely detailed and the consumer makes realistic points to validate their negative review. Amazon reviews are like Facebook comments sections, where the world is basically welcome to comment whatever they like, as long as they don't use vulgar language. Anyways, this being said, any chance you guys can bring a combat "Waxi" to market in the future? I was introduced to the design through KommandoStore and really like the design, but they all seem to be sold out. I think it would be a great product for you guys to bring a replica to the American market. Cheers, and keep up the great work!
Excellent video and I appreciate your honesty and full disclosure. But I have to admit, you were a real tease with those new boots! Now you see 'em, now you don't. 🙂 Could they be a Red Wing Iron Ranger killer? I'm looking forward to their release.
Im breaking in my wedge sole Razorbacks as we speak. I was able to wear them 10 hours the first day, that sole make a huge difference, but i know they will get better and better like my lug sole ones!
I just ordered a pair on Amazon for the black friday deal. I am excited about getting a pair of old school boots as I walk about 70-80s miles a week and want something that will last me. I promise a fair review and appreciate you for doing videos like this. I first learned about the boots from Rose Anvil. Have a nice day.
Gareth, Jim Green's are awesome boots and look forward to getting a pair of steel toe Razorbacks within the month. Got a pair of Vellie's on sale on your American website and really enjoy them. The big toe box really accommodates my monster toes and the construction is very solid. I look forward to working at my job in the winter months wearing a pair of your double lasted boots.
As I said, your boots are on my top favorite boots. I would still give them 5 stars. Yes they are a bit uncomfortable but I personally found they are great for hiking or yard work but not so good for working on concrete or hard flat surfaces. Some time back I contacted you guys about the issue and who ever I talked to was supper nice and willing to fix the issue. That is another plus for me. The heel issue in those reviews, I had that but I have had that with other boots and I just add a heel pad, Heel pads are cheap ($1 to $10) and can be found anywhere. They do seem to be geared toward women's shoes as most of the pictures show them in high heels but they work for men's boots and that is what I use them for. I find the silicone ones work better as the fabric and foam ones make a mess inside the boots as they wear out. Also I do not find the toe to be an issue, I tell every one they are perfect width. I do not think they look like clown shoes. The width is just right for my foot.
As an owner of the tyre sole razorbacks, I can say that the boots are awesome. My ONLY complaint is that the heel is not quite as high as I prefer and the back of my foot rubs on the counter and hurts a lot unless i use moleskin. If it was just a touch higher, it would be perfect. Other than that, I absolutely love my boots and thank you for making such affordable and durable (and in my case very cool looking) boots. 9.99/10
I have never had a blister on my feet. From the army 50 mile hike in the Jungle boots to many years in construction 12 hr shifts in Danner Mt Light. I guess I am lucky.
I am a big fan of JG. They are ‘honest boots’ and it takes some time to be comfortable with honesty. While the shape is a matter of personal preference and a made up subjective reality, there is no question about purity of the material and accuracy of the technique. I am a shoe designer myself and can vouch for these aspects. The only thing is the perfect size and sufficient break in period. In my case I went half a size up and added a softer insole to make it a perfect fit. You may try on the shoe before you buy it to be fully sure. Once you know your type the rest is smooth. JG shoes become very comfortable after a few kilometers. I assure you.
This is a smart video, it would make a great series. It seems most of the one-stars are buyers being mad at themselves for making a hasty assumption and not thinking it through, and they push the blame outward instead of facing that they didn't fully understand what they were buying. But let's face it, most people have spent a lifetime in cheep footwear and will need to be educated.
I’ve been enjoying my Razorback boots with wedge sole. I keep them well cleaned and conditioned, but I do not baby them when in the field. They are a bit firm under heal when standing on hard surfaces but otherwise have been comfortable. My only critique is that there is white material between the upper and the midsole that really sticks out against the dark leather and midsole. I notice the Razorbacks in the video have the same thing. Is this part of the lasting board? If this could be addressed, I’d consider the boots perfect.
Many people dont understand that their feet swell. I cant wear synthetic shoes for just that reason. It is a real problem fitting shoes without different sizes to try. I found out long ago that boots too big are better than boots that are too small. But the way of breaking in new shoes is apparently lost knowledge in America. Fill them with water (after the innersoles are removed) and wear them dry with thick wool socks. My first pair of Buffalo Rangers needed this treatment.
Excellent video. I’m glad to see the level of care and concern put into your boots and customers experience. I’m about a week into breaking in a pair of my first Jim Greens, the African Ranger, and each day I wear them there is a noticeable difference in the comfort and length of time I wear them before my feet start to feel tired. Very happy with the quality, look, and how they’re breaking in.
Great response. I love my Razorbacks. Found them hard work at first, swapped softer insoles, now have original insoles. Like the new boots but not keen on the toe cap thing.
I absolutely LOVE my African Rangers. I have worn mine basically every day for the last month. I feel like I barely had to break them in although the insoles did completely come apart on me in that time. I just wish they were easier to get in Canada. I want a pair of Buffalo Skin African Rangers, but paying the shipping from the South African website is not an attractive offer. It makes them much less affordable.
I’ve had a pair of Razorbacks for over a year and I quite love them. My one gripe with my pair is that when I bought them they came with a material insole instead of a leather one. Not sure if your different batches came with different insoles. My African Ranger also came with a material insole.
The sole in my vellies was extremely painful for the first two weeks. Particularly in the ball of foot area across the metatarsal bones. I doubled up the insoles and removed of them after the first week. They are now my most comfortable boot. Although I wish they were sold with the wedgesole instead of the hard rubber. They are my most worn shoe. Give em a chance to break in
I wish they all came in wedge I would prefer a thicker wedge sole on all the boots. I don’t like lined boots either save all the work and use thicker leather.
Seems to me everyone mentions how well they are built, even when they end up not like them for one reason or another they still realize what a well made I have pretty much every style you've brought to the sates, great vellies are great, I live in the pacific northwest and a line of fireboots with your quality under $250 they would sell like hot cakes. an option other than $500 had customs.
Jim greens are one of the best values in the boot market
EDIT:
Thought this comment could use some context as it could be read as me just saying I'll 5 star for no reason.
Razorback and African Ranger should have premium models with leathet midsoles.
I am excited about that cap toe razorback, with what I think is a leather midsole. So far I haven't had any issues with the synthetic one you have been using, (I have a pair or razorbacks and African Rangers) but long term I'd expect the leather to be even more comfortable.
I'm with you there!
I wear your Razorback steel toes daily, and I absolutely love them. Thanks for making such comfortable, rugged boots.
At least you have killed the hello peter gossip... Amazing product from what I see. Very little artisanal honesty in SA like this in SA now. Kudos
Thank you for your kind words and support @thebuxtstopshere we appreciate your recognition of our dedication to honesty and craftsmanship.

How to break in work boots 101:
> Wear them
> They hurt
> Keep wearing them
> They no longer hurt
> Broken in
Some people simply dont understand that a boot...any boot..is not going to feel like a sneaker. If it does feel like a sneaker then it probably wont last very long for its intended use. Break in period is something that all quality footwear requires, 30 mins is about 29 days and 23 1/2 hours short of a break in period😂
At $110 to $120 US the razorbacks and even the ARs are great value, but at $180 there are many competitors who compete or beat at value for money
I love my Razorbacks! I just got a pair of the new black African Rangers with wedge sole for my office job. Jim Green's are great anywhere!
I like a wide toe box. For me it’s not about fashion but functionality.
Any reason you went a half size up? If I remember correctly, the website says to go true to size when possible
That new boot looks really good! I hope the toe box isn’t too narrow. I think the wide toe box is what makes jim green boots so comfortable.
I’m an EMT in Tampa and have put more than 60 hours a week in your AR8’s since Christmas with only a 3 week break in. Best boots ever, love the brand!
@@JimGreenFootwearOfficialRazorback and African Rangers should have a premium line with leather midsoles.
I love the wide toe box
please don't get rid of it
love my fudge razorback
I received my Barefoot Rangers yesterday and love them. Thank you, and I look forward to putting many miles on these tough looking boots!
Love the boots have 4 pairs breaking in took 60 days wearing daily
I saw low prices thenni decided to do my research boom i found this video now i am going to place my order
Thank you for your support.
That Vegtan boot is gorgeous and I want to get a pair, I'd love to see it in a mini lug and wedge.
I might end up getting a thick foam insole and getting these boots even though I stand on concrete all day
Totally great! I like the look of those newer ones your trying out. I like the "clown" toebox.
And don't they look at the toe box shape before buying???That;s the first thing I look at before deciding....smh
which is why I want the Barefoot Ranger 😁
You are the planet's local boot shop and i absolutely love it
Hats off for making this video.
I really like the companies that respond to reviews....and have a interactive down to earth TH-cam channel thank you for sharing
All the best for the adventure ahead in your boots! Please get in touch if there are any questions along the way 💪💪
@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial I just received my Razerback boots, I normally wear 9.5 US in RedWings, Ariat's & Skechers.
I removed the laces so I could condition the boot, it caught my fingernail and I tore the threads out rendering the laces worthless...Paracord or leather for me :)
The stock insole is very perfectly cut to fit...there is a small heel pad, one can easily modify that by gluing a thicker piece of neoprene/foam to add more cushion.
Great video with some great accountability and awareness. I might grab a pair.
For now I'm looking for a pair that I can wear to the office and for casual and should I choose to can go for a hike in them
great boots made with excellent leather built too last and yes wear and use them better everyday
💪🙌💪🐸
7:00 "wide" toe boxes need to be standard. i dont understand why standard shoes/boots have toe boxes that are shaped nothing like a human foot.
Best boots for your bucks. The quality at the price is amazimg!
9.99/10
Looking forward to seeing (and buying?) the new boots; just from seeing them in this video they look very interesting to me!
I agree, the new boots Gareth shows off here look very interesting!
Ordered up my African Rangers this week. Can't wait, siked for an all purpose boot!
I love my razorbacks they’re on my feet as I type this at work on the railroad in Georgia
Glad to hear of yet another pair of Razorbacks doing what they do best, hard work. Thanks for the support 💪 💪
Love my Razorbacks. I use them to walk the Southern African Bush as a wildlife photographer.
My Numzaan’s are on order.
Pity I can't post a pic of my worn in Razorbacks
Thanks for the support and all the best for the journeys ahead with the Numzaan boots 🐸🐸
Good job on the 500 reviews, Your boots are on my top favorite boots. :)
Great response. I love my Razorbacks. Found them hard work at first, swapped softer insoles, now have original insoles. Like the new boots but not keen on the toe cap thing.
Use mink oil and replace the insoles with something better and the boots will break in very fast.
Going from strength to strength brother! Love what you are doing with the feedback and the directions that you're willing to go.
Just have to tough it out through the break in to get a great boot at a great price? Sign me up!
Give em a chance to break in
I can vouch they just need longer time broken in. I have the laceless version.
I wish they all came in wedge I would prefer a thicker wedge sole on all the boots. I don’t like lined boots either save all the work and use thicker leather.
Im so excited for that new boot! I've been wanting to get into a pair of Jim Greens and I think these ones will be right for me
Seems to me everyone mentions how well they are built, even when they end up not like them for one reason or another they still realize what a well made I have pretty much every style you've brought to the sates, great vellies are great, I live in the pacific northwest and a line of fireboots with your quality under $250 they would sell like hot cakes. an option other than $500 had customs.
Just checked your site and didn't find the new ones mentioned at the beginning. When can we expect those to hit the American market? I love that look.
Keep making them the way they are! Real men need boots like these 😂 I can’t believe some of the complaints
