- One of the most satisfying projects that I am pursuing on this TH-cam channel is following the construction of two of ICON's incredible superyachts under construction. In this video I meet on of yachting's most famous designers; Tim Heywood, and I talk to him about what makes the 280 so very special.

It was a pleasure to listen to Mr. Heywood, I could have listened to him for an hour no problem.

I love Tim Heywood design. I found that out after noticing that most of the Yachts that I like carries his signature. Just amazing how harmonic the design is! I only saw one interior created by Tim Heywood, and I also liked. But, the most interesting interior creation comes out of Terence Disdale. He creates a beach house over the water, which is not very common when you see some mohogany in excess or crystal, silver and gold. Yachts are suppose to be a place to relax and not a copy of your pallace or gigantic house, whereever it is located. But, they own it, they are paying for it, so.. my opinion is just mine. I only have a 19ft boat, so, It will only take me some couple of centuries in order to afford one ICON 280ft. Thank you for always makes us informed and updated! Love you channel!

I’ve been to Harlingen, a true boaters paradise. And obviously sneaked about ICON yachts, found a good spotter’s spot on the opposit side of the bay.

Really enjoyed seeing the boat stripped down to the metal, it's rare enough to see on smaller boats and much less on a superyacht. Would love to see you cover the actual building processes involved in future videos.
They must grind off at least a ton of weld seam material, but then add another ton of filler to smooth it out. Icon and other builders are gifted at sculpting and finishing those smooth lines.
The Icon 280 hull was built by Cantieri San Marco in La Spezia, around 2010 I think. Length originally was 75m.

Amazing to see a yard with such confidence in their product that they are willing to build such a large yacht on speculation, and have Tim Heywood design it! Thanks for making the effort to catch up with Tim on site and sharing.
One question for you; Assuming you don't have the CA, how would it work out for you from a brokerage perspective if someone now approaches ICON and says "I saw your yacht ICON 280 on Yachts for Sale and I want to buy it"?

Hi David, I really enjoy your channel it's very informative. I would like to know what are the top upgrades that new owners tend to change (or wish to change) for brokered yachts. Is it a new gym, beach club, cinema room, helipad, etc? I think this info would be of interest for all parties involved.

@@sakamotothecat17 With that being said, isnt it interesting that these people make up a large part of yacht builders' customer bases?
I find it particularly notable that the windows are all vertical with overhang removing the heating factor that the sun has on sloping glass. Obviously those on the bridge will feel less stress and other advantages of non sloping windows.

Such a beautiful yacht! What is the estimated delivery date? And what is an estimated selling price ... assuming a medium low level of customization by the buyer?
Estimated delivery is 2021 and the current asking price is €89,500,000.
@@JB-so5gr thanks for getting back to me. I did not expect it would be completed so soon. The pricing is in the range I would expect for such an amazing yacht with the level of credentials of the designer and builder.
I am launching a new business and when I saw the video I could not help to think such a yacht would be the perfect reward for all the hard work I expect to be doing for the next several years. But I think the timing will be off for me to think this yacht could be that reward.
But I definitely am looking forward to watching the evolution of this project on the channel. Keep the videos coming.
@@24SevenMarketing I think they will only start work on the icon 280 when it's sold. The delivery date has been pushed forward several times.

There’s every chance of a video showing RAGNAR completed, not sure about the 280 yet. ICON seem very happy with feedback from the videos though so I live in hope!
Very dated design. I've seen Lurssen's which look almost identical from 40 years ago.
