I'm currently reading a French book called almost like the game (Civilizations) where some vikings travelled from Vinland (Canada) around the year 1000 and explored central and south America with horses, Iron weapons and diseases from Europe. They meet the Inca Empire. Many Incas die from the diseases, the survivors become immune. Trade with the vikings gives the Empire the secrets of Steel and a cavalry. When Columbus arrives 500 years later, the Incas manages to capture him and learn the most recent secrets of Europe. And fifty years later, around 1530, they come to Europe and they conquer Spain and the Holy Roman Empire with their colossal reserves of gold.

You know what's strange? The southern Half of North America and South America's Native people had big stone monuments, but the northern half had a bunch of simple wooden longhouses. I wonder what happened.
Even though it's been a decade since you posted, apparently there was a huge epidemic that swept across North America, which used to have permanent settlements like Southwest Chalco and others along the Mississippi. This pandemic happened years before the European conquests.
The Sapa Inca could only physically touch anything once, then it would be taken to a storehouse where it would be burned on a special day. No wonder the sun on the throne is unhappy.
I agree. The Incans were the most progressive central-American civilization. I'll honestly say the Aztecs were savages, what with their weekly sacrifices and blood wars with their neighbors. The Mayans were pretty cool too, shame we don't really know much about them. Other than that they had a long-count calendar (which idiots think predicts the end of the world), and knew of the number 0.

@scottweise18 most of these buildings cannot be repaired like the Colleseums in Rome, cannot as modern scientists dont know how to make Roman concrete which was used to create the colliseum. and many governments dont want to repair these monuments as this would ruin they're historical importance, prestige and identity as adding to or repairing these monuments makes them less historical and less of a landmark.
