  • What's up everyone and welcome to another Lift Journal Entry. I first have to add two disclaimers. First one is when the video say's Ed Junquet that is in fact not me and is Ed. He is an amazing human and teaches out of my area. His TH-cam is ‪@edjunquet‬ and I am attaching his link tree at the bottom. Second is some of the footage I am out of frame. I recently got the new @soloshot 3 Plus and am just working out the kinks. Trust me it's more of a bummer to me then to you especially since it missed my whitewater hit!!!. But that is technology and I am still super stoked on their product. Since the last entry I have really been working on my ability to maneuver on foil. My main issues have been breaching on recovery and finding the right spot. Although it has been around 9 months foiling I still sometimes use my back foot where it's not needed. Years of surfing and muscle memory will do that I suppose but trying to break the habit. To help with spending more time on foil and more opportunity to concentrate on foot and pressure placement I got towed by a ski. As I say in the entry I was super nervous and although it was not as big as expected I still get freaked out on foil. All in all it was a amazing experience and can't wait to do it again. I wanted to repay Ed by towing him into a few and let's say I am not the best at driving the ski, but he still got a few sick ones. Hope you enjoy the vid and let me know how your experience is getting towed and any pointers.

Nice to see you wear a Helmet for Tow Foil. We always wear one for WakeFoil as well. Funny to hear a Surfer wishing for smaller sets ;)

I think it’s important to be safe when trying a new discipline in foil. I wish it was waist high everyday haha. Even before foiling.

It will. The cool thing about waves is they are always technically on the way. Just sometimes takes a bit haha. Or at least that’s how I look at it.

Hello Dave. I posted a comment about a week ago or at least I thought I did. I don't see it anymore. If it was deleted, then I sincerely apologize if I said anything inappropriate or wrong. I enjoy your videos and seeing your progression as I am on a foil journey myself. Obviously feel free to delete this post too.

Honestly I haven’t had to delete any comments on my channel and your comments have been nothing but good vibes and encouraging so I have no idea what happened. To be honest I actually don’t know how to delete a comment haha. Non the less please feel free to comment and ask questions. I certainly want to have everyone feel welcome in all aspects of the lift journal.

It weird cause me too, two comments m.i.a. anyways. Foiling is hours in the water and consistency. Anything to make more days is golden. i think youre getting this Concept already tho haha. I kite and when learning foil I did four days in a row once and it changed everything for me. Surfing tho is like kiting, you can't always choose when you can go. I'm on the prone voyage now to make those no surf no kite days foil days. Cheers. Your vids are helping me with choices as I embark on the prone voyage.

      @@chrispratt7438 Hey Chris,
Honestly no idea what is happening with the comments but again I have no reason to delete either of your comments at all. If I could delete a comment I would love to because I have had 2 comments that I am not super excited about in the past haha. Anyway your prone voyage, keep at it and just push yourself safely. I really appreciate you using the videos to help you. I as I am sure you know have only been foiling for about 10 months so I definitely don't think I have answers but if my experience is useful then enjoy. So question for you and anyone else on my channel. Would you be interested in what I do to cross train for foiling at all? I do some balance exercises and have also dusted off my skateboard too. Would be more then happy to do a Entry including my land technique which I feel has helped progress faster then I thought. Let me know and again I apologize about the comment. I am going to look at the back end and see if I have something turned on or off.

@@theliftjournal squats. And light jogging. That would be my 2c. Back when all I did was mountain bike, light weight squats and mixing in some just casual jogging paid 10x on the trails. Don't squat to the floor, it's too hard on the body. just keep the thights around horizontal. No weight squats against the wall also is decent to get things started. Or single leg bench step ups is also an easy no gym option. Works good with the jogging thing. I think it will 10x the pumping as well. Easy to find out!

@@chrispratt7438 appreciate the info my friend. I am going to try light jogging but I have some issues with my hips. The squats have been good too and I found it kinda stretches out my hips a bit. From what I am realizing now is that in order for me to foil at my best I almost have to do a 30 minute warm up. Just getting all the muscles going and such. I also started doing foundation training via TH-cam which I think is helping.
