As a retiree that's downsizing it's sickening to see how much money we spent on things that matter not. I wish we'd taken more trips or done things with our children to make lifetime memories. We're frugal but still see wasted opportunities to have saved more.

We bought snowmobiles, boats, dirt bikes, and we had a a small vacation cabin.all bought on less than 50 thousand a year. But everything was bought used with cash( except the house and cars) while raising 5 kids and my husband retired at 57 and that was a good thing because he passed away at 64.

When I've been to the US its amazed & shocked me how many people eat out 7 days a week for all 3 meals and STILL do grocery shopping.....
Don't getbme wrong people here in Europe do eat out but not all week for all meals.
If u can't afford to have a financial emergency fund you can't afford to eat out 7 days a week.

I really appreciate your "tough love" as that's where I learn new strategies from you all the time! One of the hardest things we ever did was to sell our home & move to a rental due to me & 2 of my children with chronic illnesses & disabilities blowing out our finances. However, it was the best thing we ever did! Moving from the hills to the plains means we have more sunshine that helps us with our illnesses & we're now out of a home that had mould making us sicker! As awfully hard as it was it has created positivity for our bodies, relationships & finances. It was done with a LOT of prayer & God definitely guided us through the process. 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

We had a large family. Last child when I was 39 hubby 45. That does change saving for retirement savings. We lived frugally on one income, homeschooled in a small house. Made some financial mistakes but never got in debt. Retired with house payed off and debt free and downsized big time. My health tanked 6 years ago and that has been a financial drain but we have managed.

I really wish I'd saved my emergency fund earlier. I had $8000 saved when my house had a catastrophic plumbing failure. Cost to fix, $10K. Not the end of the world, but let me be a cautionary tale.

I started job hopping, but would not go unless it was $10k plus going up in salary. Was super sad that I had to jump to diff. company in order to go up substantially in jobs. Most hire outside for going up big salary increases. I loved some places I worked, but $10k plus increase was too hard to pass up. Plus a job company does not love you, don't feel loyal, it is all bus.-so you have to look out for you
I realized this really later on in life, otherwise I would have jumped more often like every 2-3 years is about right.

It’s good timing here where you talk about people selling things when Halloween items just hit the stores. Some people are going nuts buying that stuff right now. I have one craft project for each holiday I am doing and that’s it. I will be participating in a craft show in November so I will be making items for that sale but I already have the supplies.

With your new progressives, try all different head tilts to see if there's a place that they work. If it's an uncomfortable tilt, they got the progressive height wrong. If they don't work anywhere, they might have got the pupilary distance wrong, even if they got the right Rx.
Either way send back for correction. Your tint probably makes a difference in how tired your eyes get, but it shouldn't make a difference in how crisp the letters are. (I'm not an optometrist, but my husband is, and I've heard a lot through the years.)

I can't understand why public schools don't teach basic finance a requirement. Every year of high school the kids should be taking a class (finance 101-finance 104 😂). I have made it a priority to homeschool my son since the second grade; we cover finances every single year. My stepson, who lived with his mom until he turned 18 was taught absolutely nothing in public high school, except stocks 😮. You cant invest in stocks if you don't even know how to budget your paycheck!!! All he talks about now is wanting to meet an investment firm to put money in the stock market to get rich...he doesnt even have a full time job yet. He already owes three people money because he has already made bad financial choices. He blew the $650 from his graduation open house in 10 days. It blows my mind that in 13 years of public schooling, he never had a class that taught him the basics of fiscal responsibility.

@@lateshachurney5965 they need to reintroduce this class now! The only finance related class I took in HS was economics. It didn't offer any info on personal financial matters though. Fortunately, my dad was raised my Great Depression survivors, and my mom grew up in a poor family with 10 kids. I learned it at home. Most kids don't have that opportunity.
