    Investor think! First of all really thank you to your attempt to acknowledge the people seeking ideas for investments ! My question is could you please tell me that what are the disadvantages of unit investments? Can a unit price decline? If I'm about to invest is it better to invest in long term or short term? I'm glad for your time taking to answer these questions and it will be an honoured encouragement to initial investors like me!

    • @investorthink
      @investorthink  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MM Unit prices are also declining now along with the general market rates decline. But equity linked units may not so as funds are invested on Sharemarket. Depending on the type of unit fund the advantages/disadvantages may differ. Pls refer the video which I explained the different types of unit funds to get the clear idea. Expecting the rates to move up, 1 year or less will be fine

    Thank you Investor Think! Great explanation style.
    Can a Unit Trust investment be a good option for a medium-term investment? for example, as an alternative to a fixed monthly remittance 5-year investment plan in a bank against investing fixed monthly amounts to unit trust for 5 years.
    Can it be more beneficial with the rate of return of compound interest vs profit generation based on the growth of unit price for the period?

    • @investorthink
      @investorthink  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unit trust MM fund is slightly better even if you consider it for short term compared to FD. However unit trust MM funds return is also now declining due to declining market rates. Now you can't get that 12.9% return which I got during the first quarter of the year

    aiya please could you recommend a good fund management company and could you tell how to find the fact sheet?

    • @investorthink
      @investorthink  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ceybank,NDB,CAL,NAMAL all are good in general. But you need to further look into the types of funds they have offered. The risk varies a lot among these fund types. I plan to do a video illustrating those aspects as a request of one of my viewers. Additionally, when you select a fund management company, you can google it and find some facts like, how long the company has been in existence, is it a subsidiary/associate of a reputed company (for eg Ceybank is a Associate of BOC), is there a credit rating assigned for the fund and for the company etc . You can ask for Fact sheets from them or their web pages also contain those information. A decent internet study will give a lot information of both the fund and the fund management company.

      Youcan open a account online. no need to even visit the company. First select which company you want to go ahead with. Give a call and ask the procedure how to fill the online form. They will send you the link of the online form where you will be placing your digital signature and you will upload your ID proof/Billing proof etc. After verification you will have an online account. You can deposit and withdraw everything online no need to visit the company. (Pls do remember to assess the Risk before you invest in any of the unit trust companies and type of funds you want to go ahead with. I have stressed the importance of that at every time in my videos.) Refer following link which I explained how I opened CAL account online. Link th-cam.com/video/Hg3cEzWU1IM/w-d-xo.html

      It's really a good question to ask when you watch that video. But my answer is "No", ehema kiyanna be. Units walainvest karala normal return ekak ganna puluwan. Stocks wala invest karala invest karapu mudala double karaganna puluwan onenam masayak ethulatha wunath. Ehema karanna hondata market eke movements gena, economy eka gena, external shocks gena honda awabodayen inna ona. (Every minute you should keep en eye on the trading movements when trading starts to exploit that opportunity, opportunities come and go super fast). Oya kiyapu tika karanna hema kenekutama be. E skill eka hedenna tika kalayak yanawa. In this video I explained, I had invested around Rs 4Mn by 31st March in units but I just got 12.89% return. Actually now the return is declining due to market decline. Careful investor kenekuta oya 4Mn walin dawasakin mama maasa 3n hoyapu lakshaya hoyanna puluwan. Nikamata hithanna oya 4Mn walin Sampath stock eka March 10th aragena, March 11th sell kalanam oyata aduma 120,000k ganna tibba. Eka dawasin 3%-5% wenakan return ekak ganna puluwan opportunity ekak tibba. (Me gena mama video ekak kala) Itin me wede Units wage lesi ne. Skilled stock trader kenekta wunath me wede Very Risky. Either you gain 3-5% or you will lose 3 to 5%. So its a huge risk. You can't beat the stock investment returns from any other financial instrument. But its very risky. Please watch th-cam.com/video/Pf3OzmXjnqY/w-d-xo.html Me video eke mama compare kala Units vs Shares. Oyata hodata therum yai ekath beluwanam.

      Actually the profit is in built in the unit price. The unit price that you sell is normally higher for income/MM funds. Lets say you bought 100 units at 20Rs each and one year after the unit price is Rs 23. /then by selling those 100 units at Rs 23 you can generate a profit/return of 15%. These unit prices are DAILY calculated. If you want you can sell next day. So you even have the daily return. Just like shares

    • @investorthink
      @investorthink  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, it shouldn't be the strategy. I'm sure I explained this in detail my unit trust related videos. Unit price is NAV per units. So depending on the NAV, the unit prices vary. You cannot take that decision by looking at unit prices alone. You need to see the risk profile of the fund and see where they have invested in. Then you may look at the yield of the fund. Depending on your risk appetite you can decide if the yield of the fund is acceptable or not. Then invest accordingly

    What guarantee is there to say that our hard earned money is 100% safe in Unit Trust Fund, considering the fact that terrible loses have occurred as a result of unexpected sudden liquidations of some of the so-called good investment Banks.?
    Think about the sad fate of the depositors who trusted and invested with the Golden Key investment,Pramuka Bank,Sakwithi investment...and many more private investment banks that have suddenly collapsed.....or purposely duped depositors..?

    • @investorthink
      @investorthink  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No guarantee as such to say that your money is 100% safe. Any investment carries some element of risk. If the company goes bankrupt thre is a good chance to lose some or all money you invested. This is the nature of doing investments. We take risk and get return. However with almost zero risk you can invest in treasury Bills if you don't like to bear any risk.

    Any investment carries some degree of risk. Which means that your investment is NOT 100% RISK FREE unless its Treasury Bills/Bonds. For All investments you need to take the risk, so unless you are not conversant with the inherent risk element in any of those products, you should NOT enter. I have described how the risk levels vary depending on types of investments. For a general guidance watch this video th-cam.com/video/Pf3OzmXjnqY/w-d-xo.html
    This channel does not take the liability for any of the investment decision that viewers take and always advice to understand the risk of the investment that you do before investing.
