    In conclusion, the non-voting share can be a good choice in terms of dividend yield since comparatively the price of an X share is almost low so that the denominator is lower when calculating dividend yield correct me if I'm wrong. One question I have is in case of company bankruptcy non-voting shareholders will not be paid right? Thanks for these small little things that matter most. Your awesome guy !!!

    • @investorthink
      @investorthink  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes your understanding is correct with respect to the Yield. Non voting is also under "Common/ordinary shares". So they will be paid last, after settling all dues

    • @drajapaksa
      @drajapaksa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@investorthink but in this article they have mentioned they wont pay, take a look at - biz.adaderana.lk/2011-%e0%b6%af%e0%b7%93-%e0%b6%af-%e0%b7%86%e0%b7%92%e0%b6%b1%e0%b7%91%e0%b6%b1%e0%b7%8a%e0%b7%83%e0%b7%8a-%e0%b6%9a%e0%b7%9c%e0%b6%a7%e0%b7%83%e0%b7%8a-%e0%b6%b4%e0%b6%bb%e0%b7%92%e0%b7%80/

      As per my understanding what it says is, some depositors were given non-voting shares in lieu of the deposit balance. But they claim that they haven't got any benefit as share price did not increase.so they will get the deposit insurance benefit. Deposit insurance is for depositors, not for shareholders. But those nonvoting share holders were given an exception and given the benefit as they were converted to non voting holders due to this problem and its clearly stated that nonvoting shareholders via secondary market will not get this benefit. Simply deposit insurance cannot cover shareholders. They bear the ultimate risk and if anything is left after liquidation they will also receive some

      usually this has an impact on Group financials only. This happens when a company owns less than 50% of shares of another company and has no control over decisions. So a certain potion under consolidated accounts is taken for P/L and B/S. As you said when Group EPS is computed it is deducted

    Is this applied to all none voting shares at the CSE ? I mean all none voting shares get same dividend rate ? Or all none voting shares eligible for dividend ? Thanks. Keep it up !

    • @investorthink
      @investorthink  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't check this for all non voting shares of CSE if the Dividend per share is same for both voting and non voting. (Companies can decide it as they wish) But in the banking industry stocks it has been the case to give the same DPS. Normally all non voting shares get the dividend, but the DPS is not necessarily the same dividend amount as for voting

    Please clarify this matter ......In my Vstox account , there's a collum under the heading ..." UNREALISED GAINS/LOSS". Could any friend define what that means....? Thanks ( please consider I'm new to this trade)

    • @krishanmaduranga8984
      @krishanmaduranga8984 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the gain (or loss) that you will make, if you decide to sell your position, "Unrealized" means it is still a number that will vary based on the market price, as long as you hold the position it is unrealized, if you have a positive number here and if you sell, your cash amount in the trade account will go up by the same amount, in case this is a negative number (a loss) then your cash amount will go down if you sell, usually if the price go down investors do something called "dollar cost averaging" I think that concept is discussed somewhere in this channel. Hope this answers your question.
