We have reports of Japan introduce their new Monorail Disneyland, Bangkok's new monorail understanding testing and Philippines planning to have more monorails in the future. But what about Singapore? Sentosa Express is the latest and only operational monorail in Singapore. So could Singapore build another one in the future? Watch the video to find out more.

3:36 It wasn't cancelled because of cost. They never actually plan to have that connection, it was based on the 1990s concept plan. Concept plans are not Master plans, you should take it with a pinch of salt. That concept plan was meant to give a vision of what it could be like if there were housing developments on both Pulau Ubin and Tekong. Tekong will never see such development as it will likely remain as a military restricted area for the foreseeable future.

Agreed with you. Also, the environmental cost to developing any rail infrastructure in Ubin would be too insurmountable and excessive, considering the importance of Chek Jawa's nature and biodiversity, no rail will ever be built across Ubin, the most I can ever expect is a line that reaches Ubin's beach peripheries with only one station in Ubin, and the rest of the stations of such an imaginary train line (probably from Punggol) will be on the mainland.

Bangkok, Thailand gonna opening pink line monorail for connecting Government Complex, Impact Exhibition Center. Another is yellow line monorail for East Bangkok Business District named Bangkapi and Sri Nakarin, consisting of big shopping malls like Seacon Square, The Mall Bangkapi, Happyland Center. King Rama 9 Park is along the route.
Singapore is a small island so they do not want to build a monorail or maybe it can be conducted by other transport comapanies and it cost more than 11 mrt train lines to build

All three scenarios are very highly improbable, if not impossible. I, in fact, propose a likelier scenario: monorail, or even a tram service, in the area that will soon be formerly occupied by the Paya Lebar Airbase. After the military leaves in 2030, that area can foreseeably be served by monorail or tram, but the reality is most likely just an extensive bus network that will connect to Defu and Hougang instead.
The monorail is new to singapore because the monorail was only around Sentosa in the late 70s

I'd actually like to see maglev technology being used in Singapore. Doesn't have to be HSR. Linimo (Tsubaka, Japan), Daejeon and Incheon (South Korea), and Chang Sha (Mainland China) all use low-to-mid-speed Maglevs.

@@nicrome that will never happen lol. Linimo has 1.5x acceleration of normal trains while having a max speed of 100km/h.
it's just your better-than-MRT, and quieter. Even if Singapore has a proper HSR within the country, the distance is too short to accelerate to full speed.
The shinkansen needs 12 kilometers of acceleration before it even hits 300km/h.

I don't think they will built MRT, LRT, Monorail or Tram to Pulau Tekong as the island is restricted to public and only allowed authorized person like NSmen. Also they can't built is because it is a training area of fire armed and vehicle armed( even built in underground).

If possible, Monorails can go underground if their track height is fit enough, and for siding or switches, there should be a 2 Meter gap for changing position to prevent hitting the walls.

mandai defo needs a monorail, but underground for sadly obvious reasons la, but if they wanna use the buses, they shld but double decks, cause single decks are not it, or maybe a single deck on but a bendy ver like the old smrt ones.
