    I'm 15 minutes in and all I'm getting from this man is a course in life! Any moment I expect him to turn around and try to sell me something - like a TH-cam infomercial. But no, he's a genuine - real-deal guy with a great amount of wisdom. Mr. -- you belong on Ted Talks! lol
    I sure hope you work with youth. You'd be a great mentor!! You ARE a great educator with amazingly deep insight.

    I have been sailing between the Caribbean islands for a year now. A down falls is many island grocery stores have limited selection, many milk and egg are imported and past shelf life. Besides, Cuba and Dominican Republic, I didn't enjoy restaurants on the leeward or windward islands.

    Great video.Thanks Mr. T. I live in Israel, although born and raised in America. Talk about living in an overregulated Nanny State", replete with high taxes, high prices, low salaries and stress through the roof! Dominican Republic sounds like just what the doctor ordered. Couple of years until full retirement, I'm definitely going to check it out. Thanks again. Awesome guests, really enjoyed and appreciated their perspective.

      Thanks Dave!! I'm sorry, but if you're planning to "Get out" (to DR) then the clock is ticking. A lot has gone down the drain with the CV-19 attacks in the past 8-9 months, so if you're planning to make your move, then do it soon - just my recommendation. Take care and all the best!

    I don't need luxury, but I need to eat and pay rent. Althought weather is good for living on the street, that is a bit too much. About the fact if something goes wrong, goes really wrong, is a kind of barrier, but we can't live in fears :D everything else is perfect. I know that food in less developed countries is better because of climate, soil, and chemicals absence. I want to live in tropics anyway, I hope asap, just to see how to asure elementary needs. Great video!!

    Another great video, Mr. T.! If I may add my two cent's worth of what makes the DR good and bad. On the bad side, there's no real justice there. It all works out as to who has the most money. Getting into a traffic accident, for instance, can be a huge hassle if you're a foreigner, and they'll try to squeeze you for as much money as they can. There are bars on windows for a good reason, -- it seems to me that stealing is a way of life there. They'll ask for "loans" which never gets repaid. When I visit, I don't wear fancy clothes or jewelry; doing so is an invitation to be hounded by "friends", especially women who want you to buy them stuff, and people trying to sell you something. Money, money, money. If you have it, "you're the man".! If not, you're garbage.! At least that has been my experience.
    On the good side, people, generally speaking, are friendly and uncomplicated. the climate can't be beat and the diversity in topography is truly amazing. Wondrous beaches, mountains, jungles, deserts, and everything in between.! Anyone can live a life of luxury there, especially if you owned your home, for less than $800.00 a month.! So, it all boils down to whether you can put up with living in a poor, chaotic nation, versus the year round summer. Thanks again, sir. You tell it like it is.!

      Hi Rhadames! Thanks for watching and your insightful comments. I would recommend anyone to vacation in the DR, as it can teach you a lot as things are quite different here compared to many colder countries in so many ways, (and it can be a magic vacation). However as I said in the video, I would recommend anyone considering to find a new country to live in to look elsewhere, as the fact that there is no rights or fairness for foreigners when things go wrong (due to the heavy corruption and all Dominicans side with each-other rather than the victim), this makes DR a very dangerous country to live in (Very hypocritical place). So my advice is to check in potential countries on how the Police behaves when bad thing happen - Do they try to find the facts and help the victim or further victimize the victim? (like they mostly do here in DR). Brgds Mr.T

      I’m Cuban and fell in love with the DR back in 2000 can’t remember how many visits I’ve made, sometimes 4 times in the year, I shall be there again in April. I fell in love with Santiago girl married her she lives in the UK with me now and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, 2nd is supporting my beloved Manchester City, Moston, Moss Side and Liverpool are more dangerous than the DR I will in the not too distance future living in the DR for good, unless some dramatic turn of events in Cuba.

  • @marcus6lj
    @marcus6lj 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The only bad thing about the video is that it sounds good until you look at where they are Sosua one of the better parts of the DR an area where the same 95% he speaks of in the United States are in the DR and can't afford to live there. Also financial freedom is great. The two who are speaking are also part of the elite in the DR, and I would argue that that one of the reasons they are there is that an elite status comes at a dime rather than a dollar. And as Mr. T speaks about other than the more economical lifestyle it also has the very same problems such as government oversight, police corruption, drug epidemics and poverty. But I agree in that you should get out and see the world "a ship is safe in the harbor but that's not what it was built for" well put Mr. T and much love to the Marine talking in the video Semper Fi

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Marcus, many thanks for watching and commenting! The DR, affords expats to live on approx. $1000 to $3000 per month (depending on various factors, single or family - live in small room to nice villa etc...) however as covered in my documentary about pros and cons working down here, the economy is tough, so it's almost vital to come with an overseas income source or alternatively look for another warm country where the economy is much more fruitful. And you're right, it's healthy to get out travelling. Take care! Brgds Mr.T

      Old video from my channel, most things have changed now. The Philippine's have a heavy handed dictator who's going along with the global BS, so this now makes it a very dangerous territory!
