Possibly the greatest 8 minutes of Blondie live, ever.
This has got to be one of the band’s best ever performances - on absolute fire!! 🔥
Debbie still nailing it all these years later. No auto-frickin-tune. Jangly guitars and CLEM killin it. Never get tired of Blondie!
Awesome. Shayla/union city blues. Don't get much better than that.
Thank you Blondie for all the great music, giving back to society and never taking yourselves so seriously...Be well all of you!
It was called Punk, kiddo! Unfortunately, millennials and Gen Z screwed everything up.
She almost makes me cry singing this, its one of my favourites and she makes me remember what life was like when these originally came out👄Love you Deborah 👄👄🌹
seems like yesterday, doesnt it
Like yesterday ,where does the time go
Me 2!!!! Blows me away!!!
I understand what you're saying about how you almost start crying when hearing this version, does the same for me too. There's just something about it. I can't put it to words.
Un des meilleurs enregistrements de ces chanson!!!Debbie est ''on fire ''🔥et le public lui rend bien...C'est fabuleux!!!Deborah ah la la....tu est la meilleure!!!❤️
Nice upload!
From the "No Exit" tour in '99.
I was as an engineer working for the company that did the rear-screen projection for all the U.S. shows (NEC). The company gave each of us techs and sales people four tickets to each show, with backstage passes. After the Santa Barbara Bowl show, on my birthday, backstage, everyone was asking for Debbie to sign their ticket stubs. When she turned to me, I explained who I was, and that it was my birthday. I said I didn't want an autograph, but a kiss instead. She was happy to oblige!
After the show, as we were looking for a place to get a drink, we walked past the Soho on State Street, and heard live music. Who was playing? The English Beat!
We bought tickets, went in, and watched Dave and the band. The best birthday ever.
So, I've got THAT going for me, which is nice.
So........where did she kiss you? Cheek I guess.
Nice story made me smile 🌞
My goodness, blondie is my all time favourite band and The Beat (as they were in England) another favourite of mine. I met Debbie once walking down 23rd St in NYC (mid to late 90s before the Maria / No Exit comeback) and … longish story short, she was wonderfully willing to stop and chat about the band and it was a lovely encounter.
Sounds unbelievable.plus the beat ..
You'd get a bonus like if I could for the Caddyshack reference.
“Shayla” is an anthem for the disenfranchised and disenchanted. She’s a hero. It’s such an underrated song. A song about empowerment.
Extremely and I mean extremely underrated as you say! Her vocals for the song is incredible!!!
@@blueyes816 I'm truly mystified by these many "underrated' comments ... WHEN HAS BLONDIE EVER BEEN UNDERRATED? Never. Widely praised, commercially and artistically, around the world.
I love it when they do these two songs back to back! They are so hardcore Blondie!!!!
They are perfect together
Never knew they did this. Probably my two favorite Blondie songs, too!
I have been saying since 1978 that Clem Burke is one of the best drummers ever......watch and see.
Hands down. Just phenomenal. And to think Patti Smith tried to steal him away from Blondie...very early on.
JonMatt62 I don’t blame her....he’s so bloody good.
got his signed drumstick
James Challoner Thats very cool
He is one of the most underrated drummers in rock. Just brilliant. Walks in the shoes of moon who in my opinion was the best ever.
I don't know who fascinates me more, Deborah Harry or Clem Burke!!! Love how they seamlessly transition between these two numbers.
Holy shit these two songs back to back made me feel like I was there at the concert! Loved both these songs back in the day! And Clem has always been a god, loved when he backed The Eurythmics on their Revenge album, whatta signature drum style!
Always come back to this song..
Transition into UCB is fantastic...
So many years now passed by...
Thanks for the tunes...
Clem Burke is the most industry unacknowledged, greatest drummer ever.
Eat to the Beat is among my top 5 all-time favorite albums
Clem Burke what an absolute powerhouse of a drummer.
What a vocal Deb Pristine!!!!! Entire band should be proud of this show...
Aspiring singers - just marvel at Deborah’s stage craft. And the whole band are world class accomplished musicians 😎
Clem still rockin it like it was just yesterday. What a drummer, What a beautiful woman, what a band!!
One of the most beautiful women thats ever lived (Oh and the drummer was bloody good too!!!) :p
Her vocal phrasing on Shayla here is wonderous. And I side with others here on the comments, I teared up listening, its her voice.
Her Voice ❤
Debbie Is
One Of The Greatest
Singers Of All Times…
And …
THIS Band
Dont sound like
Any other band
Blondie is…
One Of A Kind
I love You Debbie
This is the best band in the world bar none! They have it all! I wasn't born until 1983 but I love all their albums from the debut to the most recent, Pollinator! Absolutely amazing artists and genuine people who came from nothing and made it big. Debbie, Chris and Clem are rock legends, not taking away from the other guys either because they are all amazing still, now, in 2017! This band are the real deal! 🙌😎😍🔥🤘🎸🎤🎶🎹🐝
PARALLEL LINES that is the BENCHMARK any "ROCK ARTIST" should be attempting to reach.

n 1, ,
Yes this band rocks and Debbie is absolutely gorgeous
The dog's bollocks...brilliant
Brilliant. That drummer though in USB, wow.... he's goooood.
💯
Он красавчик!!!;;;!!; Да и гитарист тоже
Ele é fã declarado do Keith Moon.
Clement Burke is my favorite drummer, hands down. Instead of a lot of self-indulgent drum solos, he plays relentlessly, but always WITH the band, not against it.
Absolutely! Excellent drummer.
How good is this.
Debbie Harry la rockera más hermosa de todos los tiempos , BLONDIE una de las pocas bandas que se mantienen vigentes por casi medio siglo !!!!!
Had forgotten what a fantastic song Shayla is, thanks for sharing.. and that link between the two songs is just fantastic...
Debbie and Johnette Napolitano may be my favorite female rock singers ever and I´m a metalhead! and the drummer is so damn good the man is a powerhouse
Clem Burke is amazing as a drummer!!!!!
Que rola, que canción, que cantante, que baterista, que bajjista, que tecladista. Una interpretación muy por encima de nuestras cabezas. Saludos desde cdmx México 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽 julio 2020.
Blondie, all I can say is 1 of the best band's of all time, Clem Burke 1 of the best drummer's I've seen, brilliant talent, and I know about drumming, oh and also Debbie is a brilliant singer and performer......
The transition is awesome.
Never get tired of watching this.
This goddess gives it her all along with this brilliant band. Excellent.
Simplemente fabulosos !!! CLEM de los mejores bateristas de la historia , DEBBIE siempre te amaremos eres inigualable ,
Blondies band has changed this music up and made it flow with the changing times No other female singer has ever had a voice like Debbie along with a great band
Cant stop watching this, its epic, and that drummer!!!!! WOW :p
Clem Burke in my opinion was one of the baddest drummers to pickup a pair of sticks. He played like a man possed.
possed! lol :)
Top Drummer. Very powerful.
Robert McDaniel NY
Makes me cry every time I hear this.
Me 2,,,,"Dreaming" as well...
You and i both, i love the way she sings this song
I cannot watch this too many times! Two great songs, Debbie, Clem so damned awesome...Great vid! Peace! Jeff T. PGH PA

Blondie, the queen forever,my god they sounds amazing 😘
With Clem Burke's transition it's impossible to apart these songs!
Blondie is about Clem and Debbie and the chemistry within...musically...for me mostly Clem, the greatest!
July 1, 2018. Happy 73 Birthday Debbie! 💙
Union City Blue is one of Blondie's best songs and so is Shayla.
agreed
Late 70s, I was 5-6 years old and fell in love with that voice.... im in my mid 40s and nothin has changed🙂
Best Blondie Album Ever.....Eat to the BEAT!!!
KP Luke Pham my fave. Remember it well. Fit right in wth all the acdc pretenders joe Jackson petty zevon and on. Late 70 s. Big motors big stereos and cheap gas And mixed tapes. Side b fave. Die young stay pretty Great blondie song
Clem Burke amazing drummer!
He was so so so so good, Keith Moon good, geeeee
Union City Blue...a fan since rifle range days, but this is my favorite and has been for years now.
Mine too. Since the reunion here in 99 and after she repeats the 1st part..it becomes daylight...I say hes mine instead of "to the orange side rearrange my mind....in turquoise...???? shes done it since 1999????
Clem Burke is incredible
Clem is forever young. One badass drummer I could only wish to be 1/2 as good!
8im
Clem Burke = What a drummer.
Great performance! Deborah sounds really good .
Deborah Harry is timeless.
So beautiful ❤️
Beautiful woman, miracle voice
Saw her and the band at Artpark in Lewiston N.Y in 2016, what a voice, it sailed around the park. I could listen to it all day.
Seen her three times (x 2 with Blondie) and it brought me to tears on at least one occasion. She really is that good.
This Clem Burke fellow can really BEAT-up a ballad!
Love these two songs and they make a great combination!! The band and Debbie sound great.
Shayla - an absolute Blondie classic, brilliantly performed live some 20 years after eat to the beat was released. I think a special mention is due to both Paul Carbonara and Leigh Foxx here.
I'm 53.
This is my first time hearing this gem.
Anyone still listening 2019?
DH knocking it out..
I started in 1978 when I was just a kid, and it's now 2020.
My friends thought I was, ...weird that I liked her. Hell, I was mesmerized by her then, and still am.
Debbie and Farrah. My adolescent years were great!!
2020 and Covid brought me here, going through the best songs/artists. Stay safe y'all.
2021
2021 Covid years...
2021, this music is timeless!
l love watching this they really were in cracking form here love the audience interaction with debbie and clem thrashing them drums on the kick off to union city blue total pros.
Awesomeness...Rock on Blondie
I have a long list of underappreciated drummers. Come Burke is at the very, very top.
the fact that this was recorded a few months before i was born (april 2000) astounds me . this is my favourite song ever
Cleme Burke is a BAD TO THE BONE DRUMMER, TOP 3 EVER.
Shayla worked in a factory
She wasn't history
She's just a number
One day she gets her final pay and she goes far away
Green trees call to me
I am free but life is so cheap
Scenery is still outside of me
All alone trapped by its beauty
Shayla turned to run away to leave in peace and end her stay
Years of fear were in her way
Lost in space and down she came
Suddenly some subtle entity, some cosmic energy, brushed her like shadows
Down here we stop to wonder
Cause on the freeway
Bright lights and thunder
Years of fear were in her way...This line kills me.
I’ve been singing it wrong for over 30 years 😂.
Cars on the freeway
Uma das melhores bandas que surgiram até hoje. Debby canta e domina o palco como ninguém. Uma estrela que brilha pra sempre.
And the award for the greatest drummer ever to walk the earth goes to ....
Taylor Hawkins?? ;-)
Hal Blaine, Earl Palmer, Buddy Rich, Ringo Starr and Clem is right up there with 'em
Great job 👍
Burke's a beast.
Awesome work Clem
So good such a tight group always way back and still one of the best groups of all time :)
Thank you for this excellent video. Jeff T., PGH PA
Howdy Neighbor!!! Timothy from Scranton here..
Beautiful. ❤️
WHAT A GREATTTTTTTT PERFORMANCE OF ONE OF MY FAV SONGS BY ONE OF THE FINEST BANDS EVER...................................................
2 of my fav from Blondie...it would have been a trifecta with "Hanging on the Telephone."
They are so professional and calm
I love both songs. In fact , I love all the songs that are of band Blondie or that Deborah sings.
She is a remarkable woman. God, I love her. I love her coolness, her calmness, and her undeniable and unfailing confidence. She didn't need to wear a bikini or to show her belly button, although I would love to see her mid-riff. She is the best front woman ever.
Best 🎉
Clem, "giant" drummer !
Great mix of drummer, guitarist, and Debbie harry
Epic performance, especially watching Clem beat the shit out of those drums!
Clem Burke WOW!
Still the best
Still love you Debbie!!! Love Blondie. I whish i have met you, fantastic girl.....
Loved the UCB and all of Blondie back in the day, Debbie was my first teenage crush ;-)
I think Clem Burke was a drum kit in a previous life.....his sound is 5 steps past spectacular.....really.....And Union City, New Jersey is Deborah Harry's Home Town.....
