I can definitely imagine Helios would probably be traumatized by losing his own son like that.

@@noahroangoldwing Well in some variations I read of this myth, Helios did care for Phaethon a lot. I read some versions that Helios was a god who cares very much for his children (like Ares is actually a good father to his many kids), and was saddened about his son’s death and vow to never let another ride his chariot again especially if another of his children asked.

Ok two complaints: First of all you kept switching between Apollo and Helios being the kid’s father and while they are both connected to the Sun they are NOT the same being. Helios is the guy who drives the fireball across the heavens. Apollo is just a god of light and inspiration which causes people to confuse the two since the sun is the primary SOURCE of light we see in our day to day lives. Apollo however is a god of ANY sort of light whether that be the light of inspiration or just the light coming off a camp fire or other light source.
Edit: Whoops seems I’m not immune to mixing the Greek gods up either! Seems Apollo and Helios both lost sons to Zeus bolts (in Apollo’s case it was his son Aesculapius) but Apollo was the one who killed the Cyclopses in revenge for fashioning Zeus thunderbolts, not Helios!

It is unfortunate that Greece has abandoned its Ancient Greek Religion and has become a Christian Missionary Nation.
The Ancient Greek Civilization has lost forever.
Across the World all Civilizations fell victim to Christianity and Islam.

The ancient Greek religion never ceased to exist, although the number of its followers has been severely diminished over the last two millennia thanks to the persecution of Christians and Muslims. Today it has flourished again under the name of Hellenism, with adherents all over the world, but its main organizations are in Greece, where, after many years of legal battle, they have achieved recognition as an authentic religion by the Greek government, which is manipulated by the orthodox christian church.

Lessons of the gods in various myths... Don't be an arrogant arsehole who thinks you can do it all, know it all, be all.
Been done in Greek/Roman myths, Abarahamic myths (Judeo-Christian/Islamic), heck even the Norse acknowledges that their gods are fallable and will die in Ragnarok.
