That's a pretty standard policy, having proof of financial means. The US also has such policies... if I want a visa for the US, I'd have to provide them with bank statements (proof of financial means), criminal records, go through some interview(s), pay some fees/taxes, a schedule and a map, to show them my route + return tickets. So, I don't get why they'd be angry over the policy. It's normal.

He shall comment on how stupid the english are while he waits for the Konditorei to open to figure out what he can eat today, that's what. I kid, I kid. Look the truth is that these people would rather paint the entire nation as stupid - thus furthering my view that the UK was correct not to seek continuined membership than accept that Brexit was engineered from the standpoint of a few people that negotiated and argued for brexit on bad faith and against the interest of their own country. Had Labour been in power and we'd gotten a referendum, for a start it would have been advisory, but the part in power probably would have sued for EEA membership. Which is more desirable on a personal level and always has been.
I get why they're angry. 3rd country visa policies are standard as you rightly say. That's NOT the point. It's the ARROGANCE of the English yobbo class. It's almost as if, Britain needing to leave the EU to "get its sovereignty back" was an exercise in pointless futility and these morons were lied to. Because every country within the EU already HAS its own sovereignty. As the Spanish have demonstrated.
USA and my native Finland have long had a Visa Waiver programme, where you can skip applying for a U.S. Visa beforehand and fill out a simpler questionnaire instead during your flight. You want to know what is the funniest part? The Brits being so sure these measures are solely applied to them because they are so important, and that the Spaniards "hate" them, when it is directed, specifically, to Third Countries, and a measure other countries are also applying or will apply? For example, Portugal ended the Golden Visa scheme in 2023 because it was becoming more of a hassle than a benefit, and changes are also coming to the tourist business to limit it, some are already being applied, such as strict legislation to B and Bs and other lodging, tourist tax, limitation of visits to monuments and areas, water saving, forcing golf courses to limit water consumption or to create their one source of water (desalinization plants), etc. The hassle of the British tourist is not worth it, but its still funny to me, because any "normal" British tourist can still visit, provided they meet the regulations of the SOVEREIGN country they want to vacation in. Hilarious and sad at the same time they do not seem to understand the general feeling in Spain, I know, like in the rest of the EU, is to just ignore the Brits... I guess being ignored is so hard for them trying to be offensive is the only way they can get some satisfaction out of it, ironically, like many of the trolls plaguing the comment sections here.

That's quite funny. Who wants to live in Australia? I've visited New Zealand several times - a very nice country. Once on my way to New Zealand I wanted a single day in Sidney - just for the Opera, but back then they wanted 50 AUD for a visa. Needless to say I didn't make the stop. Today the visa is free, but now in my late sixties I don't like sitting 36 hours in airplanes to go halfway around the globe.
This is true in the UK too, of course. But when does a citizen ever experience the visa application process for their own country? The other thing is that these tourists are enjoying visa-free travel, which is another reason why this might appear so intrusive to them.

The laws discussed here are Spanish laws, decided upon in sovereignty. It's not an EU decision.

I might be asked how long I will be there, give some outline of my plans, never had to show a return ticket, had no particular plans for a motel and getting one as landed. What they need to do is enforce laws as to bad behavior, discourage the 'cheap' tourist, the drunks, as done for decades in some tourist cities in the USA like in Florida in the Spring.
It's the same in the UK. But it's at the discretion of the border officer. If they suspect the people don't have funds. It happened to my daughter in 1998 she was questioned going into the UK. I wouldn't make a big fuss about it. I would expect any country to make such checks if they are concerned.

I love Spain and have been visiting there for 25 years. Such a wonderful culture, history and people. We are no longer in the EU so presumably the rules have to be to different now. That is the reality, it’s not personal.

Spain sets its own sovereign laws... who'd a thunk it? Brit gammons not able to carry on as if they were still EU members... who'd a thunk that either... As a UK resident who 'valued greatly' EU membership, I have no sympathy for those leavers and gammons who are upset.
been like that for ages !!!!!
I am 99% sure in Switzerland 🇨🇭 you need to prove you have sufficient funds to move/ live there, must have health and accident insurance too
Is this just in Spain or the rest of the EU? Because if it’s just Spain the pro brexit lot might be red faced.
Ho ho, the Brexit lot are always red faced.
Still a white elephant is a white elephant is a holy cow.
Every country. It's called shengen.
@@pvisit No, that's not right. This is a Spanish law.
@pvisit: Get your facts right. Don't assume. Investigate before posting if unsure.
The Schengen Agreement regulates travel from one EU country to another.
The new Spanish regulations discussed here are about travels/visits to Spain from any country outside of the EU. Or to be precise, outside of the Schengen Area.
The laws discussed here are Spanish laws, decided upon in sovereignty. It's not an EU decision.
Just Spain, so far, demonstrating _again_ that within the EU _all member nations_ can exercise their _sovereign_ rights completely unhindered. If Brexitears were half-intelligent (which we all know they aren't) they would keep quiet about this. Hilarious!
I am from the USA and never had an issue in the UK or EU with entry. I might be asked how long I will be there, give some outline of my plans, never had to show a return ticket, had no particular plans for a motel and getting one as landed. I doubt there will be much of an issue if on a package tour. What they need to do is enforce laws as to bad behavior, discourage the 'cheap' tourist, the drunks, as done for decades in some tourist cities in the USA like in Florida in the Spring.
4:56 next step they will abolish the TCA 😂😂
Well .. these rules only apply to jolly foreigners ... kenia, somalia, uk, ...
Enjoy your Brexit!
Nothing against only British people, it’s a non EU measure.
And as a french I’m happy we are not the only one hated.
The same measure that is required to visit the UK
It's the same in the UK. But it's at the discretion of the border officer.
If they suspect the people don't have funds. It happened to my daughter in 1998 she was questioned going into the UK.
I wouldn't make a big fuss about it.
I would expect any country to make such checks if they are concerned.
OK border officers never apply this rule to Brits - so Spaniards are to apply the same to Brits as well!
@@peterebel7899 It’s not unreasonable to expect any visitor in any capacity to have sufficient funds to support themselves.
@@OanKnight Wrong!
It's common sense Brits to live on others' funds!
@@peterebel7899 What on earth arer you talking about, you ridiculous person?
The troll is still here and he brought backup. What a bad name he is giving New Zealand. And again he speaks nothing more than nonsense and catch words.
Hmm, I googled UK tourist visa requirements. And the first result says, you guessed it: "proof of financials means to cover the living costs, proof of accommodation" , and so on.
Wow i never thought anything good would come from Brexshit Marc but hey ill take it if i don't have to listen to people that think they are entitled and are obnoxious
