Just because you go on holiday, doesn't mean you have to get drunk and make a fool of yourself .

Have you ever been to Magaluf ? It's basically an 18-30s destination and the cheaper version of Ibiza . However I agree with you because I myself am a non drinker which is why I avoid destinations like this at my age . The locals knew exactly what they where doing and it was highly encouraged as I did in my 20s go to Magaluf. Back in the early 2000s it was £2 for half a pint of vodka with red bull ! But now they complain? Double standards if you ask me .

@@FredGreenGB In my opinion, the people of Magaluf did not know the Brits would overdo it to that extent. No other national groups misbehaves on that scale. Of course, each nation has individuals who misbehave, but not in the ratio the Brits do.

@@annepoitrineau5650 We maybe they should of had a look in the history books . I mean even our establishment carry on like yobs during a pandemic. The reason our citizens act out on holiday is because of the relentless day to day stress of life here in this capitalist society. The Americans are the same but they never leave America. When a society expects like ours then when young adults get a break they go nuts . After all if you going to sell alcohol on the scale I mentioned before then what did they expect? They also have 24 hour bars unlike say Greece or Turkey . The place is set up like a massive party so that's what they got . So if they want to tone it down then they need to take measures to do so .

Its a shame that so many of our people behave in such a way that we are then seen as unwelcome in places.
Maybe they should just immediately deport anyone found to be drunk or breaching the peace in these areas, and ban them from returning. Maybe people need to sign an agreement that the above is ok before they are allowed in.

The main problem for the Spanish islands id that because of foreigners buying up property there, the house prices have now gone above what the average spanish worker can afford considering what they are able to earn. This is driving many of the locals out of the property market and the areas the workers need to live in. Much the same has happened here in Cornwall for example. The protests are mainly to do with the way their government has handled this situation and not that they want to block british tourists from going there. This is just the perception that our mainstream media is pushing. You have to ask yourself why? What is the real reason that we, the British, being persuaded (lied to) into staying away!

I was in Lanzarote when these protests first started. Speaking to the holiday rep who had been a resident for 12 years, she said there is a lot of rubbish being thrown about by the UK media. The problem is the rise of air BnB’s, companies buying property to rent making it impossible for locals and migrant workers to get accommodation due to being priced out of the market. Sound familiar? The Lake district, Yorkshire dales/coast, Devon and Cornwall and many more have the same problem.

In my opinion, it is much more serious for a country or region to launch a campaign against tourism. Doesn't anyone remember that in March 2023, Amsterdam launched the "Stay Away" campaign to discourage young Britons from coming to the capital to cause chaos at their stag parties? The campaign used ads targeting anyone who searched Google for terms like "cheap hotel in Amsterdam" or "pub crawl in Amsterdam," warning potential travelers of the possibility of being arrested, fined, or ending up in hospital if they went out on a night out. with drugs it goes wrong.

If you speak 3 languages you are tri-lingual. If you speak 2 languages you are bi-lingual. If you speak 1 language you are English. Brits adopting local culture and language? Don't make me laugh. We Brits transported our culture and traditions to the Balearic Islands, don't learn the local language. Have our own shops.
There's parts of the Costa Del Sol, where British immigrants can't even speak passable Spanish after a decade of residency. We don't integrate into local culture. Push up house prices for the locals. Bloody Hell, I sound like Farage.

We pour billions into state schools and apparently what we get is individuals who cannot read, write - even in their own language - vomit, swear, brawl, pass out, then start the same (spin) cycle. Yep, that looks like a good investment.

As spanish, nothing wrong with being brithish, the problem is when large groups of people drinking alcohol in large quantities, bringing out the worst mankind has to offer, no matter the passport, though, being all from the same country, could bring up some patriotic spirit, that in convination, with the spirits in the drink can be deadly.

Mugaluf.,,,,When the covid epidemic was raging all of the traditional Euro holiday resorts were on their knees begging Brits to return to Spanish beaches. Same with Italy, Greece and France...."we are starving..Papa has to sell his prize donkey so we can eat" Typical Euro rhetoric at that time.

  • @oldneo4309

It’s a similar situation in the Uk in Lake District, Cornwall and Devon -local people can’t afford to live there due to second homes, airbnbs etc, and are being forced out, so it’s understandable why people in Europe are also getting fed up. I think people who promote tourism needs to take more responsibility and realise what us someone’s 2 week pleasure causes others considerable pain.

Spanish can refuse to take bookings from stag and hen parties, that happens in the UK.

This is "click bait" Propaganda. The concerns are not confined to British Tourists but to those who buy up properties at prices that Locals can't afford. Spain should act if it wants tourism that it relies on by preventing foreigners from buying- up housing for Holidays only or Profit There are more than enough Hotels and Lodging houses to cope with Tourists- if the Hotels are full- tough, book earlier or go somewhere else. The Locals are right to complain and is not in any way anti-British Tourist.

I stay in Fuerteventura the main issue is foreigners buying holiday homes and only using them a month a year, the apartments that were available for long term rentals are €700/month for a one bed now they are being let to tourist's for €350/week pricing the locals out of the market. I am resident here but there are thousands of properties bought for investment and are lying empty most of the year.
If those people are not staying and not renting out to residents they should pay a monthly tax on empty properties.

I live on mainland Spain in the mountains, for 20 years, I was told I was stupid to pay what I did for my ruined farm, the people I brought the property from didn’t mind I was paying more than any Spaniard would pay, then they complained about “foreigners” buying all the cheap properties
