  • After failing on my first Rear Diffuser purchase I went out and purchased the Rear Diffuser from ZL1 Addons. I'm really digging the look it's subtle yet aggressive and is functional as per the ZL1 site.
    Even though some of the surfaces are a teeny bit rough for my hyper critical OCD and the plastic is darker than the stock valence it's OK from viewing height. I'm not knocking the product I just like to make people with heightened OCD like myself aware of exactly what they are getting so they can make informed decisions.
    It's priced perfect for the look and functionality and I am really impressed with the no drill install. It looks like a lot of thought went into designing this product and I can honestly say it's money very well spent. Great product ZL1!!!

    The ZL1 Challenger diffuser for the 2015 to 2018 Challenger including Hellcat. Comes with belly pan to smooth and diffuser the air coming out from under the car. This is made to work using the 5 to 10 deg angle of diffuser with belly pan. Comes with mounting hardware.
    NOTE: please let them know if you have threaded or un-threaded rear differential cross member. This will determine the hardware required for mounting. You MUST verify ahead of ordering.
    If your rear end is un-threaded you will need a Rivnut Tool to install the hardware nuts that the bolts will screw into.

    I have the same diffuser on my RT Shaker. I personally think that ZL1 should have used the same pop rivets they used for the wicker bill would have made it easier and quicker in my opinion to install. I also spent about an hour installing it and I think with the pop river set it would have take maybe 15 minutes to do it. That’s just my two cents. I do love the look and I honestly could feel the difference in my ride.

    Thanks for the video. That was an incredible representation of the install. I peeped under my 2018 GT an the holes are not threaded, so I am hoping the install is not too much more complicated with the “special rivnuts”. But, I’m placing my order tonight with your code because I regard you opinion as straight from family 🙂 and I didn’t buy the last one that you reviewed but didn’t install because of the crappy quality.Thanks again!

      @douglasmclainberdeaux1534 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WorkPlayDrive Too bad, it didn't work out well for me. I have it on, but 1 bolt in my chassis is not stable. Do they make 1/4 20 rivet nuts that compress to a larger radius? Everyone says "it's such an easy tool" but I can't get the rivet nuts to compress large enough while squashed at a strange angle under the body of my car. At my workbench, it IS an easy tool.

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry man, Rivnut crimpers can be a little tricky if you don't have a good area to work in.

    • @douglasmclainberdeaux1534
      @douglasmclainberdeaux1534 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WorkPlayDrive not your fault. I just gave it another go with the car on stands. I used all of my strength and crimped the rivnut so hard that it fused to the tool (not kidding, the threads must be stripped at this point) and still didn't fit in the hole of the cross bar. So, I gave it my best and now I have an usable tool. Their epic customer service response was "well, no one else had a problem with it." I wont buy a thing from them again and wont recommend this company at all to anyone. Thanks for the video though, glad you had a good experience.

    The threaded holes on the rear cradle near the rear differential are on 2015 & 2016 1/2 models (don't know about yrs prior) . FCA changed to non-threaded holes mid 2016 for some odd reason. The defuser looks awesome on your ride man. Most differential braces require a good amount of torque & I don't think that a brace/defuser combo would allow for both to work properly. I will keep my pre4ormance Development brace. Thats just IMO.

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm thinking a threaded insert with the same shear strength and a nut to hold down the brace would work then cut down the standoffs and install the diffuser.

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      With one or 2 inches lower most driveways will be perfectly fine as long as you go with their standard diffuser. I usually drive about 1.75 inches lower than stock and didn’t have many issues.
      The times I did hit the ZL1 diffuser is really sturdy and other than a few scuffs out of sight she was fine.

      Thank you. I had both the powder coated and raw. To be honest it really doesn't matter. The part that changes is the metal piece the connects you your rear dif brace. No one can see it unless they are laying under your car. The part does not rust so the powder coating is more of an OCD thing ;)

I am only considering the diffuser in hopes it re-directs the airflow away from the rear of the vehicle, keeping the dust down. Can you confirm/deny that the diffuser helps?

      My driveway sicks for low cars and at stock height this does not scrape. With the redeye I would not recommend the deluxe version, it's much lower and definitely scrapes.
      I've been driving with this one for a few years now and it is made extremely well. I hit hard once when I left my driveway aired out too far. it was one of those butt clenching hits where I really thought the diffuser was done for. I just scuffed the plastic a little. check out my video here at 6 minutes and 9 seconds th-cam.com/video/hhxYqxYiG4Y/w-d-xo.html

    Nice! Would you recommened any of the 392 challengers over another? (T/A 392, Scat Pack, SRT 392, etc...). I'm debating on trading in my SXT and not sure if I should shoot high for a Hellcat or be happy with a 6.4L or even a Camaro SS etc...

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't speak for the camaro but as for the Challenger this is up to you. I love my Scat pack, but the whine of the hellcat is addicting. if you can afford the hellcat without it being a burden go for it. As for the 392s you have 2 things to consider. the body style and the included packages. The differences in the models would be the suspension (active vs static), tires (245 vis 275 wide) and brakes (6 piston vs 4 piston) in 2019 I believe you can stuff all those options in a scat pack ;)

    Since my Challenger is a 2014 & this product only fits 2015-newer, have you seen or heard of a similar product (one that has that extended "pan" to fully direct the airflow) to fit '08-'14 Challengers? I did some searching already, but it seems all I can find are mostly "universal" diffusers that have just the rearmost portion of this one, which doesn't lead me to believe that they would be as effect in directing airflow. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

    handle any differently? for non-bagged cars, scraping on uphill driveways should be a concern?? interstate mileage increase? all of these diffusers look like they catch air, even this one, any windtunnel or colored smoke tests done with these things?

    • @WorkPlayDrive
      @WorkPlayDrive  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see any issue with non lowered cars and scraping I only scrape when lowered 2” on my driveway.
      I would assume it’s less resistance. The bumper catches air like a parachute. This guides the are past that lowering the resistance at the rear of the car.
