Always on my mind by Elvis Presley (Song Cover)

Always on My Mind is a song composed for Elvis Presley by Mark James, Wayne Carson and Johnny Christopher , although it was the versions by Gwen McCrae (as You Were Always on My Mind ) and Brenda Lee that were released first in the spring and summer of 1972 .
The singer's version of the single reached #45 on the Billboard Country chart .
Elvis Presley's version reached #16 and had a total presence of 16 weeks.
Two other versions of this song that achieved good commercial success were those of Willie Nelson in 1982 (number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 ) and by Pet Shop Boys in November 1987 (see Always on My Mind ). For the years 1982 and 1983 , Always on My Mind was named song of the year by the Country Music Association . The song, although heavily revised, is also part of the soundtrack of the video game Silent Hill: Shattered Memories .
After Elvis and Priscilla divorced, there was one occasion when the latter went to Las Vegas to attend an Elvis concert. He rarely dedicated songs, but catching his ex-wife's attention with a look he lip-synched: "This is dedicated to you", dedicating Always on My Mind to his always beloved companion.
