*****NEVER EVER TAKE THESE UNITS APART UNLESS THEY HAVE BEEN PROFESSIONALLY DEGASSED ******* Hey guys, how are you all? Great I hope. I’m guessing this video was uploaded a little bit late today as the Internet speeds in Australia are an absolute joke and I needed to re-edit and re-upload due to a few scenes I wasn’t happy with. But not to worry All is good. Hope you enjoy the video today as There’s an awful lot happening. This aircon took me Quite awhile to take apart and get melted down but very happy with the end results. Now Have an awesome and safe New Year to you and your families and I hope to see you all next year for some fun Friday melts with BigStack 😆. Take care my friends I will speak with you next week 👋🏻😃.
i heard the internet speeds there are pretty trash but don't matter love your videos hope you know the majority of us probably don't care how long we wait along as we get more of ur amazing videos
you are right, degassing yourself with venting to the atmosphere is illegal because first old units can have CFCs inside and they destroy ozone and second they are powerful greenhouse gases and if relased they give a unwanted bad boost to climate change
Happy new year to you aswell my friend. Cheers once again for the super thanks I can assure you that money will be well Spent on beer and treats for the little monkeys. Have a great night or day and I’ll talk with you soon. It’s 2 am here right now on a Saturday morning my friends have just left and I’m about to hit the hay so I feel great right now but I’m pretty confident when I get up later on today I’m not gonna feel the same way. Talk soon buddy👊🏻😁🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
What a way to close the year! Many metals, many melts, a brand-new pour pattern emerging, and one of the best teardowns of the year. Currently delayed at an airport and an hour-long Bigstackd video was a wonderful late Christmas present.
The last upload of the year. My favorite was the goal video as we got to hear the legend speak to us. The frozen copper from the crucible looks like the copper bun for your burger creation and wasn't even planned. The crystalline finish on the aluminum copper alloy is a very nice touch. Thanks for another year of awesome melts.
I like the deconstruction and then the re-processing of slag/dust etc... nice seeing how something good can come from what would otherwise just be forgotten.
@Gamer-nc8qp the pattern is probably the result of the ratio of the individual metals(I'm inclined to believe there's more than just the copper and aluminum in the alloy
@@Gamer-nc8qp I'd bet on the copper crystalizing first, resulting in copper crystals in a matrix of aluminum, since the copper melts at a higher temperature. I would bet that he could have poured off the aluminum at that point then he wiggled that mold, and have left a lattice of aluminum coated copper crystals behind.
Definitely got a nice place out there in the country big stack, I live out in the country to in Ohio, I love it, peace and quiet, do your work with no interruptions, keep up the good work..
Love you Bigstacks, I suffer with my mental health quite badly! But hide it from the world and my family because I'm suppose to be the big strong hero daddy. You and you Friday videos are one of the things that get me through. Happy new year to you and the boys stacks ❤❤
Massive Motor Melt for sure. C’mon, the video that shattered the old target? Gonna be tough to beat when you get round 2190kg.. have to melt a power plant turbine er somethin!
Great video today. Happy new yrar to you to. I realy love a good teardown video like this, and dumpsterdive videos. Those aluminium/copper bars got som realy nice finish on top. So cool, and brittle. I miss the boot 🥾 in bin 🗑. But that is just me i guess
I somehow missed this video… I’ve been busy since my firstborn was born, and missed this! sorry! I’m watching it now as I feed my adorable newborn daughter LOL! Man, what an epic last 2023 video! Happy NEW YEAR everyone!
Because of you. I bought a furnace and now have 5 pound of smelted aluminum. Found a bike today with aluminum frame and wheels. I’ll buy one of yours in the future. Thank you for the videos
Awwww, Ingot was funny and so were you! Thanks for all the videos, man. You have put forth Herculean effort in making so many videos out in the heat. Good on 'ya, mate. I always try to remember to give you a thumbs up and copypasta that Share button. Much appreciated, my most-watched metallurgical man!
Favorite melt of 2023? I would have to say the burger melt you did. It may not have added a whole lot to the stack but it's artistically cute and despite being made out different metals, looks appetizing 🤤
I'd probably say the big electrical box you got and used it for your light switches. I never really have a favorite. I love everything you get and take apart. It's all pretty interesting stuff. 🤙🤙🤙💙💙💙💜💜💜
Shout out from a Canadian scrapper, I've been watching your videos for a while and I think I'll email you for a forge.. I just bought a wire stripper and it's already paid for itself. Love your content, thanks for sharing, all the best in 2024 to you and yours. Thx
I definitely would get someone to recover it. I would do it for free alot of the times if it was hard to get stuff like R12 or R22 . If you burn some types of refrigerate it can form phosgen gas or however you spell it 😂. Be careful with the pil in old compressors it can have PCB in it. Really old like 1970 and older. 😊
Love the smelting process of scrap metal, I have collected possibly well over a hundred kilos or more of brass fittings and a lot of scrap copper over the years working as a technician. I had always wanted to melt the scrap down but never bothered to actually source the furnace and crucibles. Pity I am not in your area, you would be welcome to take it all off my hands for your videos, anyway keep up the great work!
As an HVAC Technician, it was quite satisfying to see you take that Sawzall to a mini split. The brazing material we use to join copper together is usually silver/phosphorus/copper in case that bit of information proves useful.
529KG Massive Motor Melt - Scrapyard Salvage - 87 Year Old Motor - Bulk Copper Bars - Target Video was my favorite video this year. It helped me with the one I did this year, it wasn't as big but big enough for starting out
I have to tell you sir that the aluminum and copper mix came out awesome this has been a very enjoyable video. You and yours have a great and blessed new year thank you for sharing this with us six stars brother
Wow. It's incredible how much copper and aluminum air conditioners have. In fact, when I took my air in for repair the technician mentioned something to me about the gas. Poor Ingot, how mean you are to him It has been an incredible year where I highlight that you finally reached the long-awaited goal of 1000 kg of metal since I have been following you. Let's go for those 2222 kg. Big hug from Argentina 🇦🇷 and happy new year friend 👋🏻💪🏻
I'm thinking that this in my short-term memory is my favorite melt... I absolutely love how the aluminum/copper froze, I've never seen anything like it... I watch a lot of melting and pouring videos, and this was a first... LOVE IT!
Yes, 100% buddy. These units look relatively small, but the amount of gas and pressure inside them would be absolutely phenomenal. If you were to cut one of these open when it’s not degassed there’s enough pressure there to easily cut through flesh especially if it’s one of the smaller lines you cut. And on top of that the Freon gas can kill you if you breathe it in. My mate was trying to explain to me how he recovers the gas , at the end of the day basically he has two hoses set up with some type of regulator thingy that leads into an actual propane tank and he collects all the gases that way. I’m not sure exactly how it all works but I should film it next time I get something like this off of him👌🏻😁.
@@bigstackDGood day sir, thank you for another video. Just want you to be aware to refrigerant inside the tubes is only under high pressure when the unit is running. Honestly it's never under enough pressure to cut anyone. The hazard is the gas when it is in a liquid state in the high pressure lines will burn you due to the temperature. I've been doing sealed system repair for 24+ years and I've never heard of anyone getting cut by the gas in the liquids lines, only burned. I know it's best to warn people away from releasing refrigerant to the ozone. However, the new refrigerants that are coming out do not need to be recovered. Every country has it's own laws, so it's best to have a professional deal with the refrigerant or at least consult one. Better safe than sorry, you don't want someone knocking on your door because you out gassed a split system that had R22 or R410a. Thank you for the video! Sorry for the wordy comment.
My favorite video from this year is still the limit break (1 tonne) but each are can’t miss episodes. Giving the boys a ride on the cart this week was adorable.
Thank you for everything you do! I started my metal melting journey this year because of you with the Devil Forge 10KG. I’ve probably made close to 100 bars now and I still have SO MUCH more to melt. I always thought it would be fun to start my own channel in homage to you and what you have taught me. I have learned so much from you and always look forward to your videos. Have a great new year!
Love your channel especially the breaking down part slag skimming and pouring naturally. Bug snacked always makes me hungry at the wrong times. Love the pooches and lastly in a big fan of your socks
i have covid thankfully there are your videos to fall back on here its sucks being isolated for five days at least here in my room but I will have some videos at some point not sure when but you keep em coming just found out today that i have it it sucks but it happens soreness all over runny nose sneezing at least 20 times at times ps i still have to figure out my 3d printer
Thank you for your videos. I've been watching pretty religiously for the last several months. They're always interesting and genuinely educational. I'm in Michigan, USA, so they come out early morning for me, and every Friday, it's a lovely treat to see them. Last week was busy for me, so I haven't had a chance to properly watch and enjoy all of this one yet, but I'm very excited to!
I liked the large motor meltdowns. Those were very good to watch the finesse you used in dismantling them. Those videos were actually fun to watch as I was recovering from knee surgery. Those videos were a way for me to get out without going anywhere. Thanks for the videos you put out.
Such a great year for videos! I think my favorite was the toy car crushing. Who would have thought that cheap cars would be a cost effective source of zinc, though I was impressed my the organ breakdown. My kids would say the goal achieved vid was the best because they have been waiting ages to hear your voice!
My favorite melts are copper cables because there is no slag and the copper is 99.99% pure. However my favorite melt was the huge electric motor. I think it was blue and it was to commemorate a mile post for your TH-cam channel "BigStackD"
Hello BigstackD, this year you reached the goal of moving house and 1000kg of molten metals next year there will be more goals to achieve, happy new year and many blessings for you and your family let's toast por ello 🍻 from Buenos Aires Argentina
Hard to pick a favorite melt from such an epic 2023 (first full year in the new shed!) but I think that mining cabinet meltdown was the most interesting one. Something new to take apart, so much metal to extract. Here's to a great 2024!
Hello from Louisiana. My 12 year old son loves watching your videos. I just ordered him one of your stickers with the dogs on it. We are big dog lovers too! He likes collecting different pieces of metal and loves your huge collection. Have a great day!
Being an hvac technician this hits home the most. A lot of the motors I see you tear down I’ve seen In commercial applications for cooling towers etc. going to sit back enjoy my coffee and watch the sunrise and this melt. Godbless!
My heart melted seeing ingot not want to get off the trolley, like "but im comfy here!" And then snickered to myself when the coin was produced "okay thatll get you two more laps" :DD
I would say my favorite video from 2023 was the 529kg motor because it was the first video of yours I watched and I love the crystalline structure like pattern on the aluminum copper bars.
Its amazing you spent that time on a hvac unit usually they just go through the shredder and separates the metals wastes a lot yet you made ingots its crazy mate.
My favorite video was the big 3 phase cabinet meltdown. You have inspired me to get my own furnace and i am going to start making videos of my own on my channel.
nice job of it but i didn't know that copper and aluminum combined would make it so britel like that .thank you for sharing the adventure and information
Yes it’s quite strange. If you have a high percentage of aluminium it’s as brittle as glass, but if you have a high percentage of copper say 85%, 90% it will be almost as hard as steel .In a soon Future video Maybe next week, if I have the time I will add copper to the bar I broke up and show just how strong it can be👍🏻
hey i just recently bought my very first smelting kit and have been going strong and its all thanks to you man keep up the great work you make the best smelting videos on youtube
My favourite videos of 2023 where the ones where you disassemble interesting items, top of the bill was the electric piano. Best wishes for 2024 and thanks for all the videos. Cheers!!
My FAVORITE BigStackD video of 2023 was the GINORMOUS ALUMINUM POUR!!!!! It was such a HUGE INGOT!!! I wish you would do another one of those soon, a NORDIC GOLD MONSTER!!!!! - Maybe you could do another MONSTER MELT for reaching 1,500,000 SUBS!!!! - YOU'RE ALMOST THERE BRO!!!!! WIOW!!!!! ,,, You GOTTA make it NORDIC GOLD tho... it'll be a REAL CHALLENGE!!! (and maybe you could find a way to make into a HUGE TH-cam Play button??? not sure how tho... maybe you could make the bottom of the mold hold a plaster triangle and when you pull the mold out there would be a triangle indented in the ingot 🤷♂ - GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT... I KNOW you'd pull it off perfectly!!! :D ) - Have a HAPPY and SAFE New Years & don't party too hard!
I have seen every one of your videos. My favorite of the year was when you smashed your 1000kg goal with that massive motor melt. Thank you BIGSTACKD for your compassion and dedication to your channel. Happy new yer to you!
Hello again Mr. Bigstackd from the 313. Over an hour long vid from one of my absolute favorite channels… yes!! Thank you so much good sir and hope you have a happy, blessed holiday season and New Year. 😊🎉

I liked the 529 kg motor and the 351 Ford piston melts. I really look forward to seeing your videos. Keep it up your the best. Thank you from the USA. Sincerely dave
Of course im still here, the video isnt over yet! As most have commented those copper/aluminum bars were unique looking, weak yes but looked great. Of course my favorite is still the copper melts and pours, i even liked the copper melt and sit in the old crucible until it hardened. Thanks for another year of entertainment, i have no idea why i like these, the disassembly? the melting? the pouring? the pups? The humor? The snack? Hell I like it all! I hope you and yours have a Happy New Year!!

The aluminium copper alloy was so beautiful, would like to see it's crystal structure up close in a microscope

Godbless!
Happy 2024 - Love the Crystal look of those mixed copper and aluminum bars! Good seeing your ‘Boys’ as usual!
A final great melt video to end the year, have a great New Years Eve and can't wait to next year's videos. 🎉😊
Merry post Christmas, and looking forward to more things in the new year! Happy New Years to you when it arrives!
It's great how you carefully disassemble things such as fan motors. I'm aware of the trials of degassing. Unfortunately, pretty much on a daily basis.
You and the monkeys have a HAPPY NEW YEAR , keep up the melts in 2024 I'll be watching
My heart melted seeing ingot not want to get off the trolley, like "but im comfy here!"
And then snickered to myself when the coin was produced "okay thatll get you two more laps" :DD
I would say my favorite video from 2023 was the 529kg motor because it was the first video of yours I watched and I love the crystalline structure like pattern on the aluminum copper bars.
thank god its friday. its just like a weekoff day. relaxing...
Its amazing you spent that time on a hvac unit usually they just go through the shredder and separates the metals wastes a lot yet you made ingots its crazy mate.
42:35 it’s a shame you can’t bend these molds like an ice cube tray! 😂 I imagine the only way to get the ingots out is to smack ‘em harder?
Those crystals are insane - beautiful job there!
If you have a high percentage of aluminium it’s as brittle as glass, but if you have a high percentage of copper say 85%, 90% it will be almost as hard as steel .In a soon Future video Maybe next week, if I have the time I will add copper to the bar I broke up and show just how strong it can be👍🏻
hey i just recently bought my very first smelting kit and have been going strong and its all thanks to you man keep up the great work you make the best smelting videos on youtube
and according to your question. i love alllll of your vid's the most😊
My favourite videos of 2023 where the ones where you disassemble interesting items, top of the bill was the electric piano.
34:10 - I love watching copper freeze
I have seen every one of your videos. My favorite of the year was when you smashed your 1000kg goal with that massive motor melt. Thank you BIGSTACKD for your compassion and dedication to your channel. Happy new yer to you!
I'm still here because YOU are awesome! Best Wishes for the New Year!
same to you and yours my friend 👊🏻😁🍻
As much as the respirator helps with your anonymity, it good to see you're using it while sawing the condenser into smaller parts.
Hello again Mr. Bigstackd from the 313. Over an hour long vid from one of my absolute favorite channels… yes!! Thank you so much good sir and hope you have a happy, blessed holiday season and New Year. 😊🎉

Some People Go for Long Walks, Some Unwind while Drinking a glass of Wine, and Some do Yoga, Well, warching Big Stacked is My Form of Meditation at the End of the Week. Cheers!
I liked the 529 kg motor and the 351 Ford piston melts. I really look forward to seeing your videos. Keep it up your the best. Thank you from the USA. Sincerely dave
Yeah, copper "pucks" are fun to play with, I've inadvertently made a few over the years..😂
Very interesting melt today . My best for the year was the 529kg motor melt . That was really cool .
OOOOO....I just found one out for trash near me yesterday. Time to get my melt on too! Refrigerant line was already broken...so no gas in mine
I hope you and yours have a Happy New Year!!
don't think i have a favourite video!, really can not find faults in any of your content, perfect week after week, well done!! happy new 24:))
The crystal structure in the aluminium iss amazing.
