      Hi Johnny. I'm in Canada and when I try to purchase it, it keeps saying something wrong with the address and doesn't let me purchase it. Since it's an e-book why would it matter about my address. Can you clarify?

      Thanks Johnny. I ended up using Apple pay and it worked. Looks great. We got snow here in Canada on April 19 and with a new grill waiting to be used I'm super anxious. I'll check out your book and be ready when I can hit the griddle.

      @@1962pgb hey just saw this. I'm sorry I don't know why it didn't work initially but I'm glad apple pay worked. Thank you so much for buying it I really appreciate it. And congratulations on the new griddle you'll love it! We just got snow in Ohio yesterday, I don't know what's going on! It's ok though we'll all be making fries rice and smash burgers soon enough.

    Dude, I know this video is a year old and you probably won’t see this but I just wanted to let you know what a fantastic video this was on grilling. Never been a grilling guy although I’m looking at getting a flat top and trying my hand at it, your explanations were fantastic and I love the snap shot you had of the temperature gradients that you use and what to cook on them..super helpful.

      People with a narcissistic and self aggrandizing personality gravitate toward management positions. They love to hear themselves talk and think every word is pivotal on the success of whoever and whatever they manage. Truth is... about 5% to 10% is worth a $hit the rest is their self inflating ego. This is just the facts of living in a cubicle farm.

    I just realized I had already all the accessories but I didn’t have a griddle….I even had the thermometer that we bought for the pandemic …so now that I bought the griddle today ( from sam’s club for $ 79) it is time to cook…the hardest thing to cook on a griddle most likely it would be eggs…I cooked hundreds and hundreds of eggs on different griddles until I was sick of it….yes that is what you do when you work the egg station in a restaurant…as far as the temperature on your griddle you have to learn where is your hot side and your warm side as you cook on it…I never used a thermometer in connection with a griddle in fact I never thought about connecting the two…bacon fat will season a griddle real good…

    You say to season the griddle on high, but in another great video you say not to pre-heat on high. Can you clarify?

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, so when seasoning you definitely want it on high. It needs to get hot enough to burn off the oil and complete the polymerization. That's when the oil burns off and creates a black "patina" which is the non stick surface.
      That high temperature however is only for the seasoning process. After you're done seasoning every time you cook on it I like to preheat on low. This is because the griddle gets so hot you can get your proper temp on low or medium.
      I rarely ever cook on high. I only use it for seasoning and occasionally searing a steak or smash burger.
      I hope that clears it up and thanks so much for watching.

    Hey man. I love your channel. I'm new to griddle cooking and live in Ireland (which really limits my outdoor time 😀). I noticed in another video you said not to keep your burners on high as you can warp the griddle. Having said that, I assume that it's ok on high for the time it takes to season the griddle? Sorry if that's a stupid question. Thanks.

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi!!! That's awesome you're in Ireland, I love when there's people half way around the world that watch, it still blows my mind.
      Yes I didn't speak clearly in that video. High for seasoning is fine and you can cook on high as well if you want. I just don't because it burns stuff and if you do a large temp jump (like put some frozen burgers down when it's over 500 degrees) it can warp it.
      I hope that explains it better. Thank you for watching.

    The one thing that keeps me from using my griddle more than I do is cleaning. When I cook I don't want to stay outside and clean while others are enjoying the food I cooked. Sometimes it gets too dark to clean other times the weather doesn't cooperate. I guess my basic question is if I'm forced to wait several days before I clean will I ruin the griddle. Can I just heat on low and clean as if I was doing it right after cooking?

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert,
      I totally understand and agree. I am not a fan of cleaning after I'm done I want to start eating. In my opinion and from my experience, no you don't need to do a full cleaning every time. What I do a lot is scrape it all down, wipe it with a paper towel then eat. I also scrape it down while I'm cooking so it's not a ton of work at the end. I do not use water "every time" to clean.
      I have however been told by numerous viewers that compared to other channels I don't have the prettiest griddle 🤷🏻‍♂️.
      I don't mind though because it hasn't affected the quality of the food and I just give it a deep cleaning every few cooks when I have time.
      I hope that helps you, have a good one.

      Unfortunately I don't think they do. I've tried to use it on a stainless steel Le Griddle and it didn't work. I don't know the science of why, I just know it wouldn't read it.
      They make surface thermometers that will work. But they take a while to get an accurate temp. They are not instant like the infrared gun. I'll link one if you're interested. It will still help.

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's the surface thermometer. If you get one what I would do is just put all four burners on low then wait 15 minutes to get an accurate reading of where your griddle is at on low. Then you can adjust from there and learn your griddle. I hope this helps.

    Great video! Just ordered the Camp Chef 600. Quick question… you said to turn all 4 burners to high to start, but I’ve read elsewhere that turning all to high can warp the griddle. Can you please share your thoughts on how to avoid warping? Thanks!

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Jeff,
      I have the 600 as well and in the Facebook group I've seen a lot of people have warping issues. The 600 is technically pre seasoned but I did just one coat of oil myself burned off for good measure. Once I got all 4 burners to medium that was hot enough to burn off the oil.
      Blackstone recommends turning all 4 to high to season there griddle but it's not pre seasoned so that's why I also say turn all 4 to high in this video because most people buy Blackstone's.
      Turn yours to medium or a little above and you'll get hot enough to burn of the oil. I pretty much never go to high on my Cam Chef 600.
      I hope that answers your question and sorry for the confusion. Thanks so much for watching.

    So I love Canola and Avocado oil. I just think the heat tolerance is higher. I also love the 3 to 6 beer rule, well closer to 6. I was looking at the Blackstone griddle with the side burner. Just wondering what your opinion is on griddles. Oh. those beers, well they gotta be Bud Light, love the color of the can.

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya the heat tolerance definitely helps. I've seen the Blackstone's with the side burners and they look nice. The idea of having a sauce pot or boiling pasta is very tempting to me. As for what brand of griddle to get I don't have any brand loyalty. I've made about 150 videos with numerous people commenting about how they love all different sorts of griddles. I say get what's in your price range Blackstone's are good and so are camp chefs. The only thing I tell people is if price doesn't matter and your between a smaller one or a bigger one, get the bigger one. You'll find ways to use up the space and be glad you have it.

    Got my griddle on order as we speak.. some videos I see say to not use water on a hot surface on these consumer grade flat tops because it can cause the warping. Have you ever had an issue with this?

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Stefan congratulations on the new griddle on its way. I use water all the time to steam for melting cheese, bring the temp down for eggs, and for cleaning stuck on food.
      The main way I've seen griddles warp is drastic change in temperature. So if it's cold out and you crank it on high.
      Or if you put frozen food on a very hot griddle.
      Mine warped when I had it too high and I put a 5lb log of partially frozen ground beef on it. It went back but it was scary while it happened.
      So I think you're fine with water, just avoid large temperature fluctuations.

    @tylerowen9916 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok.. question... Once I seasoned those 3 times in the beginning then use it then clean off with water and then put a little bit more oil on it do I have to season it again 2 3 times before using it .... or when you put that oil on at the end your good to go for the next? Or do u have to put more oil on it on the next cook?

    • @JohnnyBrunet
      @JohnnyBrunet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tyler. So no you do not need to season it again before each cook. After your original 3 burnoffs it is good to go and the seasoning will build everytime you use it. It's very similar to a cast iron pan.
      I do usually start each of my cooks with a thin layer of oil just for good measure. But I am not burning that off. I turn the griddle on, put down a thin layer of oil then start cooking.
      I hope that was helpful, thanks for watching.

      God I love that movie. It is honestly in my top 5 comedies and I take that list very seriously.

    I like the vibe, simple and concise instructions, and most importantly for me some humor

    Do you need to smoke the oil 3 times everytime you go to cook or just the first time?

      Just the first time. After that you'll naturally build the seasoning each time you cook

      @Johnny Brunet I like to cook in beef tallow, can i put a little down on my Blackstone every time I cook for flavor?

      @@jberts3141 ya that will be fine. Beef tallow is delicious. So I assume you smoke meat as well? Is your tallow from a brisket or something?

      @Johnny Brunet no its store bought grass fed beef tallow. Makes eggs or steaks or whatever you cook taste amazing. It has a high smoke point too.

      @@jberts3141 ya I've never used it but my uncle swears by it. He's smokes stuff all the time on his big green egg.
