Perez Prado's arrangement with his rythm & beat orchestra was electriflying & demanded the dancers to move to the dance floor & perform the Cuban Salsa. This is one of the best Cuban music recorded. Golden words by Peter E. Farrar.
Totally brilliant. Watch and listen to Don Lusher on Frank Sinatra at the Royal Festival Hall . Sinatra sings ''I've got you under my skin'' and Don does his trombone sole. It is EXACTLY like the original recording. Nobody but NOBODY could play the trombone like Don Lusher. R I P mate. A true musical genius.
Don lusher's stunning arrangement of the fabulous rythm & beat "Peanut Vendor", raised this music to supreme levels. Salsa dancers will dominate the dance floor in response to this rythm & beat fabulous music. Golden words by Peter E. Farrar.
And what a Legend he is, I played along side him many years ago when he brought his big band / Bass Trombone features for me to play, what a great time we had, bass parts were incredible to play, he still plays that Holton TR181. I must dig those parts out sometime and share.
Not often I get called that, so thanks. I've had Absolute Pitch since early childhood and it's still there at age 81. Doesn't necessarily make you a great muso because at best I'm a competent amateur.
Hard to believe these days, but this was the introduction to the TV game show "Three-Two-One" , hosted by Ted Rogers. Current game shows never feature quality guests of this calibre.
When was this recorded..? I am most grateful to a keen Big Band fan who took me to see Don once upon a time in Whitley Bay. I think as a stupid teenager I passed up the opportunity to meet the band after the gig. Damn my dumbness.
It's done in the throat, vocalising a note a little different from the note you're playing so getting a "beats" effect. Very tricky - you really have to go for it.
Fantastic band obviously, but this Kenton arrangement never did the original tune justice. Even when played by them. It sounds great and these were some of the best players ever, but this chart just doesn't have the right Latin feel. It never did. Too heavy and bombastic. That was Kenton's style though I suppose. Didn't really carry too well into the lato idiom.
What a trumpet section!!!! and trombones and saxes and, and, the very best for Don.
I realize it is kind of off topic but do anybody know a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Thomas Russell try FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)

Fantastic
great brass yes, but also great drumming, percussion, driving bass and lovely piano break
Of course the piano sounded great - played on a Bosendorfer!!

This is the best version of this song! Thanks for posting it.
First class perfomance by top class musicians
There are also dozens of great renditions of this under its original name, El Manisero.
Poor old Bill Geldard, there on bass trombone. He's only got two notes, D and E. He played them perfectly, as one would expect.
A person of culture. Good ear!

The don's face at 02:50 onwards is a picture that says it all, this is a great take on the old classic.
Same three notes from the bass trombone player all the way through but all immaculately played. Quality sound.
That's the great Bill Geldard. Poor old Bill, two notes only - D & E.
Alternates with the baritone sax.....
La classe!.......magnifique tous ces cuivres. Bravo messieurs.
Top bunch of musicians!

by far best version of this tune
Hold on a mo ... do I see Derek Watkin and Kenny Baker in the same trumpet section??
You certainly do see Derek Watkins and Kenny Baker in the same section! Two great trumpeters sadly no longer with us
Wonderful absolutely bloody wonderful

According to another upload, it was 1987.
great performance! have a look at Syd Lawrence version- also terrific!
I think I spotted Chris Dean in the trombone section!
Bello il brano e la interpretazione
A great band with great talented world class players! Pity they couldn't play something more original
Excellent performance..
Golden Wonder real jungle fresh.........peanuts!!!!!!!!
R.I.P. Bill Geldard
Does anyone know how he got that buzzing wah effect, about three-quarters thru his solo?

Try rolling a letter R at the back of your throat as you play. My trombone teacher used to call it 'flutter tongue'.
Fantastic listening
Huge Sound.
Why is the big fiddle behind everyone :(
funky
Tight!
Magnifica
Poor bass trom :( 1-5-1-5
If you don't let the trumpet players run around and play in the yard once in a while they will explode.
It's o.k. but let's get real...
It aint no Carnaby Chick !!!!
