Lovely! Great to see such wonderful players as Don himself plus Kenny Baker, Tony Fisher, Bill Geldard, Tommy Whittle (tenor sax) and my old friend Roy Willox (alto sax). I co-wrote a biography of Roy with his son Andrew in 2020, a few months after Roy died. It is called "I Think We Have a Find" which is a quote from Harry Hayes when he heard 13 year old Roy play for the first time, gave him lessons and launched his career by recommending him first to the Claude Giddins band where he met Ronnie Verrell and later to Henry Hall.
I wonder how many know how many of Ted Heaths original guys are playing here....LOTS! Don Lusher was Heaths lead trombone from just after WW2 until the 70s....This is one hell of an arrangement too! Hey kids of today, LISTEN TO REAL TALENT!! WOW....
Happy, happy memories! Takes me right back to the "Golden Years" of Ted Heath, Vic Lewis, plus at Hammersmith Palais. Remember Don Lusher in the Lou ?? (resident band) at the Palais approx 1947/8. Anyone out there?
My kind of music - great video of a fantastic band. Wonderful musicianship. I recognise Roy Willox (alto sax) and Tommy Whittle (tenor sax) and, I think, Bill Geldard in the trombones. Who is the drummer?
lovinther80s1, bom dia , por alegrar com uma nova orquestra, adora big band, deixou o meu dia alegre. se tiver mais pode enviar-me- agradeceria muito o presente.
Think I can answer my own question. Played an old tape of an Alan Dell big band programme and this was one of the numbers played from a new CD just then released. He identified the drummer as Terry Jenkins and it sounds like his style.
My father used to LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jazz! God rest his soul...

Second from the left on trombone is a young Chris Dean. Fabulous musician and leader of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra to this day.
What a marvellously off-the-wall ending to such a superb big band performance! Don Lusher: "this is a tube of insect repellent" !!!
I thought you were talking about his trombone!
Sounds better than I remember..top class

I agree and was never convinced of the claimed benefits. But drums, like all things have their fashions.
