She was a great friend to us and many others and will be remembered for her caring nature and selfless willingness to help where it was needed. She will be missed and her spirit lives on...

The Jive Aces I'm only 17 and I've been going to War and Peace show for the last few years, I love dancing to the 40's music and to you guys! Particularly the stroll dances and this year I had a few ask me to dance :) Thanks for the amazing time and introducing me to Skiffle :)
Now that was fun! Couldn't keep my foot from tappin' and I didn't try. I've heard the song many times over the past 70 years and it still sounds the same. The only difference I could see was the tune's name ~ we old folks always called it "Mama don't 'low". We abbreviated "allow" when writin' the name or when singin' the lyrics. Of course, that don't matter~it's a fine tune no matter how you write the name. Thanks for postin'.

I just looked it up! That's cool but sadly not our version as the show ended in 2006 and this didn;t come out until 2011.
aHA... That's exactly where I first heard it too. Watched Reading Rainbow every day with my son. I bought the book, Mama Don't Allow after watching it. Still one of our faves and my son is 31 now!!! LOL (the book was about the alligators in the bayou.). and Miles got a saxaphone for his birthday.. his mom would say.. "take it outside dear".

What is a skiffle
Skiffle is a type of music that was popular in the 1950s in the UK. It was a kind of mixture of blues, jazz, gospel and jub band music from the 1920's to 40's in the USA.
