As a regular ROC user, I appreciate the simplicity and to-the-point nature of this video. You covered the main bugs that I feel like I am regularly helping with in global chat. You have my sub.
One thing I recommend while mining with ROC (and you have a mining ship in your fleet as well) is to carry at least one delivery-mission box on board the ship with the ROC. That way you can mark a location with the ROC if you happen to come across a nice quantainium field. Simply drop the box off at the field, go sell the ROC's content and come back to the mission marker with the mining ship. Also you can create the boxes with minables straight from the ROC's inventory 👍
@@brockoala2994 Nope, they are not marked with the mission marker like the delivery boxes are, so you're more likely to lose your minables as well as the field :D I only take them with me to areas I previously found loads of quantainium in, because it's sometimes a bother to go out of my way to get the delivery box 😅 Best if you can pick one up at the place you spawn your ship or at the outpost where you plan to spawn the ROC 👍
@@brockoala2994 I would not mine just anywhere. I have my favourite mining haunts on Yela and Daymar and it is usually quite easy to get a pick up at outposts there. In this case getting a pick up at PO for me usually means I have to fly or EVA to another part of the port 😅 Another good use for it is if u have someone doing forward scouting for your mining ship. This way they can mark a spot for u and move on to find another. I used this solo in 315p when I was trying to locate the best quant field I ever saw I found by accident while flying around in my Valk on MT. Did not find the one I was looking for but I found another one quite rich as well, dropped the box and flew away to get my Mole (though while selling the ore at NB console there was some bug and I did get just about an 1/7 of what I should've been paid for the load, which was pretty frustrating 😅)

The tips for flipping the Roc over was perfect. That's my biggest frustration when it comes to Roc mining without a rental ship to haul it around. Thank you!
We used to take out a prospector and drop a guy off to hand mine while the other used the ship to mine. The clever part was the pilot would use the scanner for the both of them. Worked really well and doubled efforts.
I hardly ever sub off of just one video, but this one has been the best ROC guide that I’ve seen after watching about 20 others. I just wish I had seen it BEFORE I started ROC mining. After a day and a half, I feel like I’m just starting to get the hang of it and I’m 300-400k away from buying the Cutlass!
briliant wee video, just got into ROC mining myself, and found it to be quiet fun, my first run more than paid for the ROC and the armour, you got my sub for the flipping it tip!. i use a constellation to haul it around although it likes to freak out in it when the cargo bay is going up or down.

Great video, after browsing for a couple of days this was the best video showing how to work problems, what buttons to press and an explanations showing how/when/where to use them. Almost all the other vids skipped the important stuff and left out the details. They were more of a overview of the equipment, not explaining how to use them as a new player would need to know.
This is how I got started. I started delivering boxes until I had enough money to buy the ROC and than used it to mine just like the video so as to save enough money to upgrade my starter to the Prospector and now I mine asteroids. Good video.
Man, this really helps a lot! I just started mining with the ROC two days ago and the flipping over and drifting while trying to collect the ore was a major pain for me. For everyone who wants to try the ROC, I recommend Aberdeen, there are often clusters of five or more Hadanite stones to be found within a few dozen km of the HDMS outposts.

Awesome video man! I’ve been looking for an efficient way to make money, and I’ve heard mining with an ROC is a great way to start. I’ve done mining before, but it wasn’t with the ROC and I was really curious as to how to sell your commodities. I didn’t even know the bugs you listed existed, but now I do AND I know how to solve them. Excellently put together, you’re very straight to the point and you don’t waste our time because you know we came here for the facts, nothing more.
I would like to say there is times where pressing m will cause the arm to slam upwards when you get that bug which will damage the mining arm. Its' better to just go into scanning mode and get out of it and that fixes the arm with out extending it. All in all a great video!

Thanks for the tips. I've only taken my ROC out once so far but it was taking so many deposits and so long to fill my ROC that I ended up getting a server crash before I could sell. But I'm looking forward to trying again.
Great vid, you could add the cold climate suit can be purchased from any of the new cargo deck shops on the planet orbiting spaceports, so you could get everything you need from Hurston system. When vacuuming the crystals try to position your rock so multiple piles look like one pile on the screen, I only use this when the vacuum is not working quickly.
Nice video! I’ve just been avoiding the ROC lately due to its recent issues. I’m more likely to get snagged when trying to collect. I’ll try powering engine off though and see if that helps it become more consistent in collecting. Didn’t mention the bug where the planet eats your ROC and possibly your ship. Lol. I’ve been using the free freelancer and it works well. You just have to be really precise in loading it in. Very nice and clean straight, and ensure your ramp is on the ground. Good luck mining citizens!
As soon as you push r to fire it up immediately hit m to work the arm. I fid it easier to just drive out in mining mode because that damn arm will sometimes pop a boner while not in mining mode and lodge itself right in the cutty's ass. I wish the Cutty had a bit larger of a bay but it's workable. I did get rid of my red for a while though because with the bugs and that tiny ramp bay it just would end up completely stuck almost every time now, and the connie isn't a good pick because it's ramp is bugged too. Hopefully the MSR will be big enough as that could be perfect for a support ship that doesn't have to worry as much about the bugs
You earned Sub # 665 because of the engine off rollover trick, didn't know that lol. If you need to drive around and pick up rocks though 99% of the time just jamming the wheel in one direction without actually driving will get you still enough for collection mode, saves time picking up the ones you accidentally blow up
This is a really fun gameplay loop. Ppl have been having a lot of problems with it in the last week or so, with their ships despawning while they're in the ROC mining. I've had to go pick up org mates quite a bit.
For me not logging out in my ship anymore fixed that issue. Also some time i can't seem to spawn my roc. It keep daying "sorry, we can't bla bla bla...). Going to another moon seems To fix this since you can claim it there.

Wish I'd watched this video before the first trip I made with my roc. I had picked up a few things and then when I went to the terminal and it all said zero I was like WTF, and just logged off in disgust. 😆 Today was the first day I really spent mining with the roc. Filled it up and my backpack too and made 230k in about 3 hours. 👍. I probably could make more running cargo in my MSR, but then you have to worry about finding enough laranite that someone else hasn't picked clean. And then the stress of all that money tied up in cargo and you're praying a 30k doesn't come!
great video. Sure could have used that flip over info a few times before. at least 5 times i just grabbed my haul and left it there to be claimed at a PB spot. We found that if you land your ship in your LOS that it has yet to despawn when you find a decent sized node. Not sure if we just got lucky or if your ship gets jealous from not being looked at. LOL

Good tips most people is not aware of turning off the engine. Really help big time, also to add if you can ge cutlass red is much more better than black due to med bay. You can go stay longer and dont have to worry about water and food but its going to be a tight fit....o7
This is great, my friend and I can make money faster by trading cargo on our carrack but it's so boring. All I do is sit on turret all day in case enemies come by (they never do) while I play on my phone irl. Even though this pays a lot less, it seems a hell of a lot more fun. Especially since we can load up two or three ROCs inside the carrack and both go mining at the same time, so it's a lot better for group play
Terrific video, very clear and helpful. Do you have one on "how to mine with the ROC" . . . how to do a scan, what keyboard buttons are used and how to do the mining process specifically (how to fracture, collection mode, etc) ? . . . Also, any tips on FPS mining? Now a subscriber, thanks again!
FPS Mining is best left to the wayside if you have a ROC, but I suggest doing the Aberdeen Cave investigation mission for hand mining. Make sure to bring a stack of flares tho!
