Long story, happy ending. I am my mother's full time caregiver, since 2015, and for the last 3 years have no social interaction at all due to covid. I now have one day out per week, but usually shop, run errands and go to a coffee shop and knit. I rarely get together with people, with this rigid schedule. Last week I was knitting as usual when a woman came over and said she was outside knitting with friends and invited me to join them, Result? I made 4 new knitting friends and have a weekly chance to socialize and it's wonderful.Second meet up yesterday, and it was the best part of my week!

How completely wonderful :) I have become isolated and lonely, for different reasons I guess, but I have begun volunteering at a local community garden. My first shift was last week and it feels like a new beginning for me. xx

Dear Janna, I took a pix of the happy scrappy blanket I’m making out of old mens plaid shirts, but can’t figure out how to send it to you. I have been knitting for 60; years but am making a blanket out of fabric for a change. It’s a lot faster than knitting. Stock up on food staples if you can. We will survive as our grandparents did. It may not be easy but we will be stronger for it. Don’t apologize for rambling. I think that’s why we all love you so much. You are our friend and next door global neighbor. God bless and keep you in His loving care.

Please continue to ramble and chat about anything. We are all concerned with these worrisome times. You are a dear friend who visits me at home while I knit, craft and crochet.

I enjoyed your hairy wood stove podcast. lol
Looking forward to seeing the completely installed and tiled wood stove and we have to see it after you’ve built up all this excitement. 🙂
I always love seeing the FOs and progress on WIPs.
You made a point that I need to adapt for my crafting life - working a few stitches or rows everyday will get it done. Once I cast on I want to work until it’s done and that is not practical.
We’re getting used to seeing you every week now and it’s been a treat. I’ll totally understand if the schedule changes and I’ll still be here to watch whatever you choose to share with us. Thank you for all that you do Jana. ♥️

I absolutely love the random talking you do please don't stop. Love being able to see you every week. It's would be great even if you only chit-chat. I all so love a wood stove we have one in our basement and it heats the whole house. We have a 2 storey and a loft log house only the man storey is logs. I don't care how warm I am I will standby a log stove. We also have fir trees all around us. They are trees we can cut for wood. Pretty much only cut the ones that get blown down.
I'm getting all my bits of yarn I've bought that are end piece from a friend that has a mill. She bags them 1000yard bags. I'm going to be knitting my blanket. Well until next week. If you have questions about western Washington state ask we live 1 and a half-hours from the pacific ocean. 30 miles from a big gorgeous mountain. Mt. Rainier. Big hugs Shannon

I don't have many knitting friends either so I'm grateful for you and some of the other podcasters I watch just to have someone who speaks the same language. I really want that book, I've been waiting for the release and just closed my eyes and ordered it while watching this. My hair has always been blonde, but it's very grey now, I braid it so it stays out of my face and my granddaughters have all taken to braiding their hair as well to look like Grandma. I think it makes their other grandma sad because she wears her hair short. I tell my son they just want to be like their 'cool' grandma who lets them use her sewing machine and teaches them to make things. Love your podcast.

Love your ramblings. Years ago, back in the 70s, I used a wood-burning cook stove, and since then for over 40 years, we've heated our house with a wood stove (here in rural New York State, US, where we have real winter). Rarely was any part of the house at a comfortable temp - too hot, too cold. This year we installed solar and a heat pump system, with wood for backup. I hope you enjoy your new adventure and have many cozy hours!

    • @FinnishKnittingStories
      @FinnishKnittingStories  ปีที่แล้ว

Our main heat source is big wood burner that heats the whole house, but the pumps do require electricity to circulate the water. Out little wood stove is mostly to keep the kitchen-living area cozy and also for cooking. We just discovered that our electric oven is the main electricity consumer in the house. Needed to send that on vacation. 🤣

Jana I just loved listening to all a out your new wood stove. It will keep your family cosy this winter, and you will have a lot of fun cooking and making tea and coffee. Please let us see it when you get the chance. We have a wood burner here in NZ. It's such a comfort sitting in front on cold winter days and just looking at the fire. Ours has a glass door as well. We can use the top to cook or boil a kettle too, but no oven.

Moi Lena, my Sister showed me your channel and we watched loads last week. She gave me a shawl pattern and I am learning new skills, I used to just make basic blankets ect.
Were in the UK and cost of living is crazy and hard to get used to. My partner and I just bought loads of tinned food because of crop shortages. Sounds like we need toilet roll too!
I would looooove a wood stove. We rent but one day, wood will be in my home ❤️. Knitting keeps us sane and we make wonderful clothes too.
With all the worlds madness your videos are very relaxing. :)
I have a big bag of scrap wool from a charity shop. I think I will have a rummage now :)

I just love you…maybe it is because I can relate to you. I think out loud all the time. My husband asks “are you trying to convince me or yourself?”😂😂😂I am always trying to convince myself🤷‍♀️. I just might start a scrappy blanket💗💗💗

We too are putting In the wood stove/oven. We have to 8 weeks for it to be delivered. I can't wait to cook my first meal. We are two grandparents so we need to keep warmer now, this winter was much colder. Your socks look really good. Hope to try the pattern. Live the chatting with you.

Hello, Janna, hope I spelled your name correctly! Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 Yes, a live stream knit and chat would be fun! Hoping you can figure out a good time that will be doable for many of us. Enjoy your channel.

I love your chatting at the end. I love knitting along as you talk.
I'm totally jealous of your wood stove. We had one when I was little and I loved it. Sadly I love in a modern house here in the UK and, somehow, will have to find money for the heating etc this winter. I'm just trying not to worry about it.
I love both of your new sweaters. I haven't the patients at the moment for a Battenburg blanket, but I am crocheting my Mum a wavy blanket for part of her Christmas present. She might get it early as an autumnal present to help her with the energy bills!
She's 91 and should not be worrying about wether she can afford to pay her bills!
    Enough said!
Take care and keep safe. xxJane

Never too much about wood stoves for me 😁 We also heat mostly by wood, with a small wood stove in the main room of our cottage- which is the living room & kitchen combined. I do have a dream of one day getting a large one with an oven, as you have! I cook on the top of the one we have now. I’d love to see a photo of yours if you are comfortable sharing. The fireplace in our cottage is one of the old fashioned huge cooking fireplaces, but the person we bought the cottage from filled in with poured concrete 😖 so we’d have to try to knock it out if we got a larger wood stove- the cottage is too small for it to fit in anywhere else. Not sure the cottage would withstand that knocking😅 I always enjoy your podcast, & hope the Winter goes okay for you all, there is also talk of electric outage periods then here in Ireland so I understand your concerns. Big hugs & a Zoom knit and chat on your channel sounds fun! Susan

Like you say it is the ❤of the home and really miss it during the summer months. I also purchased the Salt and Timber book and am just waiting for the right time to sit and take in what I am sure, is going to be a gorgeous read….the socks are definitely going to be on the needles soon. Best wishes to you all and a 🦴for Jackie.

I'm in the U.S. and would love to attend a live knit together with you! I live in the desert and like you I'm not ready for autumn knitting...it will remain warm here until through October typically. Knitting brings me joy and allows me to focus on something beautiful. This too shall pass.

Another precious podcast, they are always so warm and inclusive. When the time is right embrace the grey. Having our hair up can look so good and even more femine. Easy to do methods and youtube can help. A different look again that we get use to. Some handmade earrings and it even more fun. Wish I did it sooner. Thank you so much Jana ❤ ❤ ❤
