    Thank you so much for this very informative video. I’m just starting to learn vector coming from raster based designing. I’m a little confused with the difference between strokes & paths. I’m really wanting to create single line drawings for colouring books, with the ability to be able to make the outline thin or thick. I’d prefer to not use the node tool and stick to using the pencil tool. So is that creating a path or a stroke, or is it. The same thing? I’ve had a play around and watched a few videos but am still pulling my hair out 😝😝 looking forward to watching more of your videos. New sub from Australia ❤️🇦🇺

      Happy I could help. The path is what creates the shape, paths do not have to have strokes applied to them, but if a stroke is applied it will follow the path. Even if you primarily use the pencil tool, you will still likely use the node tool to adjust your points after drawing. It can take a while to wrap your mind around vectors, but that's because normal it's very different than working with raster brushes. Here is my short video on the pencil tool if you haven't seen it already: th-cam.com/video/WvS06QtHHXE/w-d-xo.html
      Also feel free to check out the skillshare courses that I have in the description to learn a lot more about Affinity programs. Thanks for subscribing! Happy to have you on board.

    Great video! I’ve never even messed with the stroke panel after a year of use. I’m trying to build a pill shape but I’m not seeing how to connect the lines. I’ve split an ellipse and converted to curves. Then I’ve made two strokes and connected them to each half ellipse. I’ve tried to close the strokes but it doesn’t make the pill shape. How can I connect the strokes to make the pill shape? Any help with this is much appreciated

      Hi, I might be missunderstanding what you mean by pill shape, but wouldn't it be easier to use a rounded rectangle to make the shape? If you want to connect lines together that is a little more complicated and involves using the node tool to select two anchor points and then using the join command (found at the top tool bar on desktop and the bottom contextual bar on iPad)

      @@bendesignsmedia hey thanks for replying. I don’t know why I had a hard time with this. Thank you for the help. I ended up using the curve tool, now I feel like a dummy. 😂 originally I was splitting the ellipse spacing the two parts and adding two line to each end to make the pill shape, but when I added the full only the two ellipse halves would have the fill not the new section. It was a real head scratcher. 😂 thanks for the help

      Hi Faraz, I'm not sure what you are asking in this question. Are you trying to do product mock-ups like putting your artwork on a shirt or mug?

    • @FarazShykh
      @FarazShykh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bendesignsmedia yeah and also mocking up logos in glass windows like in photoshop.

    Plz make a video on exporting in AI file solution on IPad. I am really confused.

    • @bendesignsmedia
      @bendesignsmedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Faraz, you cannot export in AI from Affinity Designer, you have to use SVG or EPS formats. If you need AI you have to use Illustrator.

    • @FarazShykh
      @FarazShykh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thanks. But we can export it in Adobe pdf and by opening it in vectornator. We can have it in AI format.
      When we don't have Adobe Illustrator.

    • @BenFrankarts
      @BenFrankarts 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FarazShykh This is true, I use it as a workaround. I’ve argued that AI export be a thing but they are focused on making Affinity better than Illustrator- but at the cost of being useful to our clients who just wanna open up the file and put something into production. And SVG exports don’t always open up looking the same as they do in Affinity. Especially effects applied to strokes and fills. Think vehicle wraps and billboards.

      Hi Jack, check to see if you are in the designer persona at the top of the screen. Studios can change based on the current persona
