Steve is definitely a class act and always mentions Who and where he discovered his recipes never takes all the credit and gives credit where credit is due. I’ve said it before I’m super sad that I didn’t discover this channel why he was still alive Reston peace.
My mother made this. The only differences were that she put celery seed in it as well as using fresh garlic. Also, she never blended it with a mixer of any kind. Shook it in a bottle and put it in the refrigerator for a month before it could be used.
Sheila, I am so very sorry for your loss. I was not aware of “ Shotgun” Reds demise. I enjoy watching, writing and cooking some of his recipes that appealed to my taste buds. I hope we will be able to continue to see his cooking videos moving forward. Thank you, Miss Sheila. 🥀💐
Just sad to hear he passed on. Just the same will continue to watch his other videos in his memory. Of a good guy for sharing his wonderful cooking talent. Am sure gonna miss him. Thank you for the info and God bless
I just made this! This is it, I love this dressing. Followed the directions to a T, turned out fantastic! And yes, used the Kitchenaid mixer. But, you do not need a Kitchenaid stand mixer, as a blender or stick blender will work fine.
Thank you so much for posting this! I have been looking for this dressing that this restaurant Luby's used to have. I have been looking for their version of French dressing because it was the best I'd ever had. And it was a spice in there that I could not figure out. And I think you got it...its the chili powder, paprika, and I think it had a lil cinnamon in it as well. I am gonna try this dressing. I can't wait! I think you got it!!! I am a salad FANATIC!!!
When it comes to measuring items like ketchup, peanut butter, corn syrup, etc. for recipes... You can spray the measuring cup with a cooking spray like Pam. It doesn't leave A lot of product in the cup. With this recipe, you might even swirl around a little olive oil since what you're using for the recipe.
Yo Sheila.. Steve is still with us! Every time I check my phone.. I see Steve! God bless you baby... We all feel your loss! Sweet dreams Princess... Y'all WILL meet again! ... ...
You ought to let fans meet you to learn about Steve! I’ve watched Steve since I was a baby and love shotgun red! I cook most of your dinners y’all really should involve your fans!
Thanks for using these recipes. We are with the fans. We recently turned the comments back on. We like the fans to tell us what they would like for us to cook that we haven't already. Go to shotgunred1000 that is another channel we have. You will see Steve fishing and when we were on the road doing shows. Him working in the garden etc....
Yall can cook this down a it on the stove top and slather it on ribs as final glaze and it is mind blowing. We use campells tomato soup instead of ketchup and we add celery seed.
I made this Recipe up a month ago. Yet in all recipes I try, They get modified after the original is made up. I put everything together except for the sugar. I divided the liquid into 2 equal and separate containers. 1 batch of liquid i put in 1 cup of sugar... other batch of liquid i put in 3/4 cup of clover honey, and blended them for a good 10min each. I put them in clean containers and off to the fridge for a couple of days.. I then tasted both, after their stay in the fridge. Both were good with their different sweet items.. So next step was take, one part of each and blend... OMG (Oh My Gosh) it was even better and a bit shinny... the Honey mellowed out the sugar. The original is really good.. Yet that honey added another level to it.. thanks for all the great video's and written recipes. have a great day
I learned to mix French - n - Blue from my husband, at first thot he was weird - but now - it's the only way I like my spinach & most salad ingredients!
I made this with Splenda instead of sugar and sugar-free catsup, It is soooo good and low carb friendly. So delicious, I could drink it. I need the 5 Gallon recipe LOL
French dressing is my favorite dressing another great video and his recipe will last forever cause I’m going to make it thanks for sharing your the best
Yep Steve will always be with us ... All these great cooking vids And especially when She She and Jen Jen put knew ones on .... it's kinda like he is standing there with you with that big grin ... staying quiet of course probably eating some sonic onion rings .... hiding them from Shelia ... lol
That is sweet of you! 😊 Thanks for watching this channel. When Steve passed away he had made 307 recipes. We started the cooking channel in 2014. ❤️ shotgunred.com
I love French dressing, but I am now soy intolerant, and every commercial French dressing in the grocery store has soybean oil in it, and health food store versions just taste bad! This is excellent! Thank you for posting!
Hi Steve just want to say thank you for your recipes and if you have a raspberry vinegrette (did I spell it right?) recipe please share it to us coz that's one of my favorite dressing. All the way down here from the Philippines
I’m sorry if this has been asked already, but how long will this last in the fridge? We made a batch about 9 months ago. Was wondering if the vinegar and ketchup keeps it fresh?
Steve passed away Dec 2018 since he made this he would have the total correct answer. What i remember it lasted a good while. It never lasted long enough around the house to say for sure😋👍
I know Honey doesn't spoil - it only crystallizes after a long time - (just have to put the container in very warm water for as long as it takes), & Vinegar may not either - (it's potency might lessen after a long time.)
This guy is a legend and a true genious check the history of Shotgun Red if you all get a chance. Great times on TNN and CMT when life was much more simple.

Just shake it back up :)

Hi Shawn, We updated the ingredients in the description box below the video. It's a ½ Tsp. Onion Powder 😊
In your video you add mustard powder, it is not In the printed recipe. Could you please clarify? Thanks, great videos.
1/2 tablespoon dry mustard according to the video
I just subscribed!!

I'm going to marinate pork in french with 1" pieces overnite and put it in the oven on 425° for 25 minutes
I like my kitchenaid mixer like Steves but mine leaks grease/oil where the shaft comes out. Drives me nuts.
I would love to try your chocolate gravy add some bacon and eggs lol. I’d love to meet his better half and cook, talk and just learn
That is what we always had growing up with the Chocolate gravy. Eggs and bacon
Kid's ketchup=Heinz...Adult's ketchup=Hunts if we're just talkin' cheap store shelf stuff.
Was hoping she would have commented
You're a sweetheart!
yum🥰😝😋
It is! :)
Your video adds 1/2T dry mustard - but the recipe didn't have it listed.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
No it is. Big deal! Thank God !
Too much sugar. I will make it with splenda
