ever since the mario with a million colours video I LOVE that iridescent approach to colour where you slam together apparently contradictory colours and the brain smooths them out and turns them into epic lighting/texture effects
Thanks! That's a great way to describe it; I bet there's a generous amount of heavy lifting our brains are doing to make sense of it - wanna keep learning how to best harness these crazy effects 😄
@@BJGpixel I'd still love to see a video making art to look as smooth as possible on a CRT. A lot of older games were made with those displays in mind, using some awesome blending techniques.
Thank you so much for using Homework!!! That's my palette, I think you may tell it by my nickname XD. I've put a lot of energy into it and I'm very happy people use and enjoy it! Also, really nice catch on Jokers Cards, you totally nailed it!
Oh hey, thanks for the awesome palette! Had a great time exploring the pen/paper look - works surprisingly well within the 4 colour limit! Such a creative idea, and there's actually tons of potential for expanding the concept into different pen colours, highlighters etc. 🤔
Oh, hey, I'm using the Homework Palette in a project of mine right now. I was just looking for a set of colors with a blue, and just kinda picked that one, but it's working out so well and it's so easy to work with. And then I figured 'Heck, they're here, too.' Sooooooo... thanks! 🙇... Dithers like a dream~
I’ve studied art my whole life, went to school for it, and even do it for work now. I have to say, you are one of the most naturally talented people I’ve ever seen. Just found your videos and have started watching every day.
I was *not* expecting a Great Gatsby reference to show up in a pixel art video. That really brought me back. Next, i would like to see the entirety of the FitnessGram Pacer Test speech. Jokes aside, the final pieces were lovely, as always.
I remember back in early high school my friends and I would doodle these platformer level puzzle thingies and make each other complete them. You had to trace with your finger the path the character would take and talk through the sequence of moves you would do to clear obstacles (there were traps and power-ups and all of that). The homework palette kinda makes me want to draw a pixel art version of that !
Wow a 3-in-1! 🤩 Really cool seeing the different styles these palettes create; the Homework one feels particularly unique but I one the way all of the pieces came together. Especially some of the detailing like the sustained notes in the rhythm game! ✨😁
Thanks! Yeah Homework was quite a fresh concept to work with! It's surprising how much the palettes were able to direct the inspiration here; kinda fun going in without a plan and just seeing what ideas pop up from the colours 😄
The Homework pallete art realy strongly reminded me of my school days when I was so bored my hand just started wondering with pen on page. The sides of my notebooks looked like an art gallery lol
I was rewatching this and just realized you put the main companion from your game in the homework. I’m going to be excited looking for more hints in older videos now
I absolutely love these! Going to try to download random palettes myself. And I'd love more process videos! I want to learn how you think so I can get better at pixel art
Your process of blocking out characters looks mesmerizing, I liked rewinding and watching it over. Amazing work, I'd love to be this good at pixel art. =]
i've been binging your channel for the past week, and i adore the magic you make out of tiny squares! i have once again picked up pixel art because of you. c:
You are a very impressive artist, and I learn a lot from your drawings, they help me practice. I loved what you did with the 8-color palette, great idea!
Hey Brandon, amazing content as ever! I was wondering, would it be possible to get a tutorial video on your process regarding layers, how you use your software etc? I think it'd be really useful and a good complement to the tutorials you already have (:
Ive just had this channel recommended in my feed and its awesome to watch. I cant and have no inclination to try this as im a fossil now but I have a question to all that do. When you finish a sprite set how difficult is it to start to animate it? Ive always loved Pixel work, especially recent games like Sea of Stars, Blasphemous and the Last Faith. It looks really difficult and I assume how old 2D animation was made but it would be nice to hear from those that do this as a hobby/living.
Hey Brandon, I don't know if there's already a video about this, but do you plan to make a video about CRT monitors? I'm looking out but so far I haven't found any video more focused on pixel art, oh and excellent video as always by the way!
When I do pixel art in photoshop I use the built in swatch feature, is there a reason why you don’t? Like is having the colors on its own layer better? What are your thoughts?
They're all so good. The cats especially, but I think I'm a little biased towards super-colorful palettes. ^^; Also, you keep doing awesome things, and I keep learning; on the second one, the anti-aliasing on the edges as wear on paper is definitely something I need to experiment with. Like, wow. :o

I agree :D

@@BJGpixel ok but can you actually make a piece with over a thousand colours that would be a beautiful mess :O
The mobile suit looks so good on the CRT - the softening of the harsh lines really makes the highlights look great.
Totally, that one especially feels right at home on there. Somehow the colour even came out as more of the minty Jegan look that I love 😎✨

Thanks for trying my palette, love what you did with it!
Hey thanks so much! Love how punchy all the colours are, really fun to see the effect of using them all together :D
It's a phenomenal palette!
It looks really great!
Just going to mention here Skeddles is also the creator and driving force behind LoSpec too :D
the lospec god in person 🫡
The cats were so expressive! Love it!
The cat posse is actually so creative because it looks like they are inside an amp!
Those crazy cats deserve to be animated

i LOVE that little cat rhythm game mockup
your mastery of color values really shines through when the hues are so high!
I'm always amazed at how you manage to make me nostalgic for something that doesn't even exist. Like I want to play those games on my old Gameboy/ NES
I love pixel art where the pallet has a small number of colours
Agreed. It's a great demonstration of an artist's understanding of light and color
so you love pixel art
Oh no, homework has come back to haunt me!
Never thought I'd have to dig into my soul for a Gatsby reference this far out from Grade 10 😆
2:50 low-key looks like an icon from the original syndicate game. pretty cool
Would any highschool note be complete without the "cool S"?
love the insane cat posse
The last palette has a strong ZX Spectrum vibe.
the gatsby answer on the homework art made me laugh out loud
I would love if you made a video about the pixel art of Pizza Tower and how it embraces the wackiness of 90’s cartoons, love the content
I’ve studied art my whole life, went to school for it, and even do it for work now. I have to say, you are one of the most naturally talented people I’ve ever seen. Just found your videos and have started watching every day.
I love the way you explain your process - I've been in a pixel art slump but your videos have been giving me the itch to jump back in!
the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell

That jegen crt time gave me chills

Absolutely love each of these illustrations and how different the subjects are! The doodle one especially amuses me 😂
Love the cat posse =)
Love the Jegan illustration, that would be an awesome print!
you are so talented man. every time i watch your videos i'm just blown away by your skill in translating things to pixels.
Have you ever played with the Ega color pallet it is my favorite mostly because of the limitations due to have 16 colors on screen at one time!
The joker card 8 one is my favourite, it's crazy how 8 colors can do so much.
omg i loved that last one
Honestly, I love going to that site and clicking the random palette option and then trying to draw something with it (usually Mario).
the last pallet gives strong ZX spectrum vibes
Wow a 3-in-1! 🤩 Really cool seeing the different styles these palettes create; the Homework one feels particularly unique but I one the way all of the pieces came together. Especially some of the detailing like the sustained notes in the rhythm game! ✨😁

that cat band game looks fun!
Jegan spotted! So cool, the master grade is the best model kit I’ve ever built!
The Homework pallete art realy strongly reminded me of my school days when I was so bored my hand just started wondering with pen on page. The sides of my notebooks looked like an art gallery lol
these are all great but the last one especially is so cute!!! we love it!
I was rewatching this and just realized you put the main companion from your game in the homework. I’m going to be excited looking for more hints in older videos now
The homework one is the best
Pixel art. 🎉
The first one is realy impressive👍🏻. I love theme all , and want to see other videos from you with same concept but with different colors palette
These are just amazing.
6:30 when i saw this white cat with guitar first thing that went to my mind was: Its Fubuki uwu
Love forgotten swamp and the piece you did with it!
I absolutely love these! Going to try to download random palettes myself. And I'd love more process videos! I want to learn how you think so I can get better at pixel art
Was really surprised you managed to resist the urge to animate the last one 😸
I've recently been trying my hand at pixel art and your videos have really helped me! I'll be sure to check out these pallets! Great work!
Great stuff! I think the cat one deserves some animation, like someone is playing the game!
Your process of blocking out characters looks mesmerizing, I liked rewinding and watching it over. Amazing work, I'd love to be this good at pixel art. =]

Wow, a Jegan fan! Admittedly, it's probably the best design in the GM lineage.
All 3 were very creative ! This was fun to watch :)
man i just love your videos, you can really do any content you want, its just cool to be part of the process
The Great Gatsby reference had me chuckling! Fantastic work across the board!
You are a very impressive artist, and I learn a lot from your drawings, they help me practice. I loved what you did with the 8-color palette, great idea!
Brandon I started following your videos to improve my pixel skills and I realised you're a genius 😸
It is always a good day when you release a new video~
These palettes look so good! Love it! 👍🏽
3:50 We’re reading Gastby right now so this is particularly hilarious to me.
The Joker Palette reminds me of the ZX-Spectrum.
I realised that one of the drawings of the homework page is a Petal Runner monster!!
I would love to see the cat band be turned into an actual video game. That looks like a lot of fun haha
That homework palette is so good 🧑🍳👌
What is the song playing during CRT Time? I've been trying to find that song and don't know the name.
All of the art here looks amazing, Jegan especially as I am partial to Mobile Suit Gundam
I really love the cat one and the homework one! Both of then are so good!
Nice video as always!
I just got back into your channel yesterday, glad to see you made another upload! ❤
Love so much your videos, i kind suck at pixel art, but your content is so relaxing to watch, thanks for the great work ❤🎉
THESE ARE SUCH COOL CONCEPTS!!
Love your videos dude! Totally doodled on homework during school as well and that cat jam band was awesome!
These look awesome! I love your videos and I can't wait to see more! I'm also a big fan of CRT Time. Amazing work Brandon. :)
Videos are always better when a cat is added
this is epic! your videos always inspire me to make something cool, so thanks for the content!
Very cool!
Guys wake up! New Brandon James Greer video!🎉
Cool!
Amazing art!
The clown palette is insane

That last one is extra cool! Can I try making it into a full game pretty pls?
Awesome!
Another Brandon upload, another happy day
Hey man can you make a Jesta using the 2nd palette
That Jegan looks a lot like a Labor (from Patlabor), i had to check if it was the same designer and sure it was, Yutaka Izubuchi.
Wow that little S threw me back to middle school hahaha. Awesome work
Early, Another informative video! 🎉
loves it
Def enjoyed this type of video, it scratches a creative itch I just don't have the ability to satisfy myself..
I keep coming back to this for that last artwork. …It’s probably the mania game part, isn’t it?
Hey Brandon, I don't know if there's already a video about this, but do you plan to make a video about CRT monitors? I'm looking out but so far I haven't found any video more focused on pixel art, oh and excellent video as always by the way!
the homework one looks a lot like the "Un Mañana" cover art (a Spinetta's album)
Super cool video consept :)
CRT Time is best :)
hey brandon if you see this could you make a shading tutorial like how to use colour properly and how to shade?would be awsome thank you!
When I do pixel art in photoshop I use the built in swatch feature, is there a reason why you don’t? Like is having the colors on its own layer better? What are your thoughts?
your artstyle has become very cute
What was the other palette website you have used that makes stepped gradient swatches?
Yello!
They're all so good. The cats especially, but I think I'm a little biased towards super-colorful palettes. ^^;
Also, you keep doing awesome things, and I keep learning; on the second one, the anti-aliasing on the edges as wear on paper is definitely something I need to experiment with. Like, wow. :o
Suas artes são tão lindas
