- A stray dog wandered into the gorilla habitat at San Diego's Zoo Safari Park. NBC News’ Tom Llamas has more on the rescue efforts by the local humane society.

That dog has very good manners. He didn’t fuss about having the leash on him and walks right next to the lady from the humane society when he was being escorted out. Good boy!
Dogs are smart, I'm sure he gave in because he realized how much the gorillas posed a threat to him.
Probably the first time for both animals to ever encounter the other species and it was weird. The dog was more curious but the gorillas went into defensive mode. Natural instinct on their part but the dog obviously too domesticated just wanted to be friends.

UPDATE: As of June 20, 2022 = "The owner of the dog who was safely removed from inside of a gorilla enclosure at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park Sunday, June 12 has come forward, according to the San Diego Humane Society. The dog was temporarily named "Mighty Joe Young” and we've learned now that his name is Meatball."

Puppy went exploring in San Diego . One wrong turn and he was in a far off jungle with huge creatures that did not want to play .
They need to determine how the dog got into the gorilla habitat before the gorillas discover the way out.

The Alpha was ready to fight and was surprised that the little guy didn't seemed to be afraid neither was agressive, that was a lucky good boy.

Apparently most zoos do not really know of ways to fully keep gorillas and chimps closed up. Turns out when they truly want to escape, they literally do more so than any other animals.

Of course without zoos and international breeding programs animals like the gorilla, especially the Lowland Gorilla will most likely go extinct due to human encroachment on their natural habitat. But hey they won't be being kept in zoos enclosures right.
And what about the alternative, which is the lesser of two evils, zoos and international breeding programs to ensure the survival of the species or extinction because of human encroachment and destruction of their natural habitat.
@@andrewg3238 they’ve got great intentions but the truth is that if their habitats are gone, where do you release the animals from a breeding program so that they can enjoy the life they deserve? If humans have destroyed the habitat already then they’re just going to put the animals into a designated area, again, to make themselves feel better. Preserves become zoos without walls and fences. And targets for poachers.
