That’s what happens when you skip through those online training modules.
Literally its the FIRST thing they teach you when training in college. THE FIRST is enclosure safety with dangerous animals.

What saved him was the mask
At another zoo years ago a visitor leaning over the enclosure accidentally dropped in her baby. Armed security arrived minutes later to discover one of the gorillas gently cradling the baby and protecting it.
Gorilla be like "Security! There's a human in my place, please take him out!"
It’s the stand off for me. The gorilla and the human are, “If we just stay still, then nothing bad can happen to us.”

Yes it’s the Fort Worth Zoo, and the gorilla is very kind but even then incidents like this are still very risky. He was concerned the left something when they ran from him too. Amazing creatures
I'd rather be locked in there with a silverback then with most humans.

Gorillas are mostly harmless unless you provoke them. My dad was a tour guide and he encountered one twice. The first time he saw one face to face it just gently pushed him aside and kept moving, the second time it was with another gorilla and it was examining something shiny on his clothes 😂
