The fact that they Have to find that ingredient by touch ruins it. The 1st guy identified avocado correctly yet he wasn't able to identify it just by touch alone confusing it with a lemon. He knew it was indeed an avocado and this mistake was caused simply by a touch mistake. this is wrong
Comming from the North, I may not be able to identify something like a prickly pear, but I can't imagine confusing red currant with cranberries, they taste completely different...
Due to a tragic childhood, I used to walk around and scavenge for food in nearly complete darkness. I mean, yea, being able to find out ingredients just by taste is usefull but what was that blindly selecting the right fruit in the basket for? The contestants knew exactly what they had tasted but still lost, because of a gimmicy game show element...
Hondurans would destroy this contest. I worked with a lot of Honduran people over a decade and I have never met a group of people that eat and enjoy such a quantity and diversity of food on a regular basis.
MasterChef USA : Stand 30 feet away with blindfold, don't breathe, and identify the farmer of the ingredient I am holding right now. MasterChef Africa :
Idk how they did it but strawberries are surprisingly more sour than you would think. I’ve made strawberry syrup before and you need a lot of sugar to balance the sourness
I would've smelled that strawberry juice and took of my blindfold in an instance. I absolutely hate strawberries there is no way I would taste one for a stupid game
"I've eaten fruit all my life" And I've eaten pork all my life (cept that 15 year vegetarian stint) but I still like it burnt to a Crisp with so much spice I can't feel my mouth after. Does not a pork chef make.

@@QueenOfBrokenStone I'm going to die with BOREDOM watching Masterchef Au 😅😅. Its so loooong. A cooking show with 50-60+ episodes, like c'mon. But if i were a contestant, i would probably choose Au cause of its long duration (longer exposure😉). And they should add a little bit of drama to maintain the thrill. In my opinion, Masterchef Canada and Masterchef Junior (US) are the best cause in Canada, there's a little bit of drama which gives thrill and contestants and judges are nice and talented, and the production is great. whereas in the MC junior, the kids are so adorable and really talented and ofcourse, Gordon and Joe are fun to watch. lol this is my first time watching Masterchef SA and the commentary is so funny. they took the most boring obvious statements to be edited into the video

i don't get why they can't write or say it how'd it cooking if you need to pick one fruit out of the bunch instead of using skill you can get so unlucky
So you're blindfolded and given a thing to taste and then say what it is. Fine. But then you blindfoldedly have to grab the object from a plate? Which crackhead decided this competition?
I dont know a situation in a kitchen where I will be in the need of finding a certain fruit simply by smell and touch. Am I cooking in the dark or smth?
Its crazy that being unable to see the food, challenges your brain as far as being able to identify the flavor. Proove that sight aids in taste..same for smell.

Imagine having to choose between red and green grapes vs red and green apples
that be evil
They have a very distinct flavor tbh
Red vs green apples would be much easier
I could probably do apples but I’m not sure if I could do grapes or not
This would be so hard. Your senses are out of balance when one is taken away 😂

Really ripe ones aren't.
They're a little tart but not sour. And they can be sweet. They're similar to a Pineapple but with the texture of a strawberry.
I think kiwis taste really gross. They taste like if spinach went on a tropical vacation.
I wouldn't go by the person who thought strawberry was a kiwi. She doesn't really know what they taste like apparently. Kiwi is sweet and tart.

The judges are so simple!!
when it came down to picking between nectarine, tomato, plum...why didn't anyone just take a bite and look for the same flavor?
Well they were not supposed to do that
Was it supposed to be hard? I genuinely don't know...
this is so dumb! blindfolded is one thing but having to feel for it? Masterchef Australia is the ONE
My father can tell just from smell which fruit is that
Cause he is fruit wholesaler 😂
I can do that too. It's not very difficult.
This is the most pointless challenge of master chef ever. This isn’t gonna help in the real world in the kitchen so why make it a challenge?
Kind of agree, I thought it might have educated their pallets further though. You think the other taste tests are pointless?
It’s to test their palate.
Nah it’s so when they taste other chefs’ food they understand every ingredient that went into it and they could use their recipes for inspiration
I mean, yea, being able to find out ingredients just by taste is usefull but what was that blindly selecting the right fruit in the basket for? The contestants knew exactly what they had tasted but still lost, because of a gimmicy game show element...
Dude picked out a lemon instead of a avo, bruh

By far the worst version of this show on the planet, bland and boring contestants and "judges", the cooking level is lower than masterchef junior

Strawberries are not naturally sweet until you macerate it.
It’s an avecade
its more fun trying to identify it without talking. 😆
Who is the winner of this episode his name???? Anybody know?
How can you mess up cranberry and redcurrant???? WTF. They taste nothing alike
At least unlike in Australia they all do the same Challenge and don't have one different fruit per Person
This challenge actually looks fun
All the tomatoes look under ripe tbh

O this a blind taste!!! Ramsey could learn something for his next show!!
Kind of unfair because even if they taste the correct thing they can so easily pull the ring fruit out of the bowl even if they know the answer.
An element of luck in this test. Not sure it represents a master palate
