@@zayffon1325 I think it might be cool if in Kenshi 2, the area to become the ashlands isn't that bad but sometimes gets hit by "ash storms" or something, non skellies need gas masks or be inside during that weather.
Ashland being the capital of the second empire makes me believe it wasn't always like this and humans once could inhabit the area. Stobes proximity and mysterious death that supposedly saved humanity makes me believe that he deflected a chemical weapon from hitting the main land to the ashlands. Stobe dying before the second empire is possibly a misconception. If you take Orkans creation myth, stobe died and split into two parts, I believe those two parts would actually be tin fist and cat lon. Them splitting was the main catalyst of the second empire falling apart.
Now that you mention it, the fall of the roman empire was in part because a caesar split the empire in two parts. I oversimplified and ommited things. But your comment made me see similarities between the fall of both empires.

Isn't Kenshi another planet? If there's a spaceship crash,it's probably from far before the 1st empire! Like when humans first colonized that world! Although falling all the way from interstellar species to what we see in Kenshi....damn!
Great video, man! I love that Kenshi is so ambiguous about its history!! Not only is it cool from a rp standpoint to be able to play "the good guys" no matter what, just depending what version of events you take in as head canon, but it makes me so excited for Kenshi 2 so we can get even more mysterious answers about things! I honestly think Kenshi 2 is going to be before the second empire and just after the first so that it's still kinda a post apocalyptic wasteland, just one of a different kind. It'll give us answers on what led to some of the chaos and destruction of the founding and falling, and some of what happened after the first did the same, but not an actual answer on who is right and wrong. I don't really want one, honestly. I love these lore videos and fan theories. These discussions about a small, once beautiful moon doomed to slowly fade away into nothingness; the answer to such problems possibly lying undisturbed deep beneath the Ashlands.

I freaking LOVE this lore stuff! Wondering the blasted wastes of a fallen world, then wondering out in the middle of the Desert, finding an out of place piece of shrubbery, is hiding a hatch that goes into an massive complex untouched by the outside world for thousands of years. Finding information about the horrors at the fall of the mighty Empire make the current troubles seem laughable. I just fantasize about stumbling upon a time portal and coming out during the End Times of the ancient world. I would be forced into the hospital because my Lore Erection had taken to much blood away from other areas of the body!

My personal theory about the Ash is it might've come from some unknown super weapon which ended Cat-lons reign over kenshi. If you look closely near Cat-lon and his storm thrall domes there is a giant circular hole in the ground that goes super deep into the moon. My theory is that as Cat-lon went mad and began thralling skeletons, and trying to wipe out humanity someone set off that super weapon at the base of Cat-lons empire and caused that entire area to change and shift into what we see in modern kenshi. I can think of no other reason for such a giant hole to exist, unless that super structure over top the Ashland domes are some kind of mining laser but who would put the throne of the 2nd empire next to a mine?
Yeees i saw that huuuge hole, it also raised many questions in me. Seeing the size end destruction. this is very plausible, as it seems that the hole has at least taken the building around it :)
My guess is it was effectively a nuke alongside the ash from the volcanoes to the north maybe the ancients buried a bomb maybe cat lon made one as a last ditch idk

Kenshi is a Moon, so yep another Planet. Given the fact, the first Empire where probably humans with space technology that settled here :)

with the ash being toxic i think it is radioactive maybe the ship thing has something to do with that?
Someone suggested that the ash might be from the Volcanos after all. The Ship is the the theory i wnet with, but its possible :)
My guess is the industrial waste and destruction of the area by conventional i.e. fire and non conventional means i.e. nukes or volcanos
