      In terms of performance, no. Internally, they revised the pre-amp -- one is JFET based, the other is BJT based and I can't speak to the 319 microphone.

    Great stuff, waiting on my Bluebus in July. Any thoughts in using a third party 3.5 mm Microphone for telephone calls instead of going with the SES or 54 pin adapter and purchasing a used BMW mic?
    Does the 3.5 mm input on the Bluebus produce clear phone calls if wired from the trunk to front? Or is there another accessory required? Thanks

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have always used the factory mic, though I bet a high quality aftermarket 3.5mm mic could sound better. You'd need to run the cable up through the car and mount the mic somewhere in the cabin, and this work/clutter has been what has kept me from trying it. I VERY rarely talk on the phone in the car, so its not a high priority for me. As far as I know, all you'd need is the mic and a long cable.

  • @naveeds786

    Bluebus is great but honestly the mic for phone calls kinda stinks. Not sure if its just mine but callers always complain that the sound quality is poor. Is there an upgraded mic that is a plug and play replacement?

    • @naveeds786
      @naveeds786 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@E39Source totally understandable for an older car. We're blessed to have bluetooth audio in a simple upgrade. I used to have a grom Bluetooth unit before bluebus and there is an aftermarket mic installed by the A pillar. Maybe I can splice that into the existing wiring for the stock mic

    Great video! I have a bluebus and really love it. I'm connected using the analog connector. I bought the digital cable and tried to switch but when I switch the bluebus to digital via the head unit no sound is played. If I switch back to analog it works fine. Any clue what the issue could be?

    Hey Ryan. Great video. I love the idea of the bluebus, however I currently have an android unit. The main reason is the backup camera functionality. Is there a way to hook up a backup camera to the OG radio (MKIV)?

Everything is done from the back & plugs into the rear taillight to for the reverse trigger. Kit includes a relay as well. I have it & it works great in my E46 M3 cab. They even sell the optional camera that fits into the rear licence plate to make it look OEM. I also have the BlueBUs. My 2004 M3 as almost all the modern tech. what’s the best head unit for a e39 2001? I am getting my first car monday and would like to add a head unit as the radio does not seem to work

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Marcus! Congratulations on your first car, and you've elected a great vehicle! I have found that all of the aftermarket head units are pretty much junk. They tout long lists of 'impressive' features, but in reality, don't work (or fit) very well at all. I highly recommend fixing/replacing the factory radio, and adding a 'BlueBus' BlueTooth device to the loop to replace the factory CD changer. This will give you factory bluetooth audio streaming in addition to hands-free calling, all while maintaining the originality of the factory components.
