@@michaelmoody3737 , The only "Black Velvet" is actually Guinness from St. James Gate, Dublin. Since 1788. And, the sun doesn't set anywhere on Planet Earth "like molasses in the sky" -- and Whiskey, by whatever name. is not coloured black. But still one of my top 100 favourite songs.

How, exactly, is it "underrated"? Two weeks as Billboard's #1 hit, a Grammy for Myles, a Juno Award for single of the year, a Millionaire Award for extensive airtime. . . It's a great song and was recognized as such. That's NOT "underrated."

One of my aunts was an escort in Vegas, she met Elvis and he really
liked her so her took (and other women) with him on a tour abt 6-8 months. Now she’s in a nursing home. I want to visit her and just hear all her stories. She fkd everyone lol of course some would be embarrassed by that but I’m fascinated!! She never had kids and eventually contracted HIV in the 80’s she’s honestly one of the nicest ppl I’ve ever met in my life- so funny too. It’s crazy to me bc she wasn’t even that pretty. She is my moms half sister. Her mom was the daughter of a chief on the hoopa reservation and her dad (my grandpa) was a Russian Jew, she had this hook nose, weird body etc but she was I guess good at her trade 🤷‍♀️ Lol

Her voice has an amazing texture, and really uses her tones to great effect. A classic song that is still relevant today.

My daughter used to put money in the juke box for me to hear this in Wick in Scotland while we ate dinner. Played over and over again.

To Alannah Myles: your song is way beyond good. It is just fantastic. Before I knew much about Elvis, I just thought it was a real good song-not even having a clue. I’m a huge fan of the King. Thanks so much! And you have a great voice too.

Will never get old. When I was a small boy my mom would be cleaning the house singing to this and would pick me up dancing in her arms, and singing to hairbrush with her. Burned in my brain every time I hear this I think of my mom.

Im 33 years old. This is the first song I remember my mama listening to and I've loved it since the very first time I heard it. I played this song for her when she was dying because she said it had so much meaning behind it. She loves Elvis. But I think it had another meaning to it for her. I miss her so much

      I was also 10.
I was working on the car with my dad, and it came over the AM radio. My dad couldn't believe it...he was a big fan in younger days.
Alannah Myles makes this song. There's nothing on the planet like sensual, sultry women from the US or Canada (I grew up near the border and knew both!).

Absolutely what made this track amazing was the producer,..... the person who arranged the over dubs, the haunting base lines and the Hammond organ work. On top of of all that is an incredible female voice. Well done to all involved.

Yeah, back when they actually embraced being feminine and actually wanted a man to be with. They spoke up when they were interested in you. They were just all around betta, i dont care what people say, but there are things called gender roles. 80s women embraced their gender role. Their sensitive, soft, sweet submissiveness was why women and men fit so perfecttly together then. ( im not being misogynistic when talking about womens submissiveness, im sayin as women they are hardwired to be this way. They are the yin to a mans yang or vice versa)

That feral energy where you're never quite sure what she's been thinking about. The wild that runs to the core. Not chaos, but measured and maybe dangerous? I get it! ❤😂❤😂❤😂
