The money paid from those bills are paid to the workers who run the facilities that produce the heat for homes and to also pay for the resources needed to give that much heat at once.
I live in Texas and slept through the freeze, woke up next morning and it was 50 degrees indoors. Kinda sucked but we weren’t expecting the outside temp to drop that damn much. @@presidential3228 Well that's why we need a mix. We need capitalism to create the surplus of money, goods and services, then we need social mechanisms to be able to iron out some of the differences between the strong and the weak people. As no society want the weakest and poorest to suffer through life, so the goal is to give everyone as much dignity as possible. In my opinion education, health, safety (police and military) most infrastructure, and some housing should be covered by the public sector. This is not only desirable from a social point of view, but also from the view of efficiency. Still I think that no one should pay more than 50% tax in total on their income no matter how much they earn. Also I do not believe in taxing assets that you have earned with honest hard work. I believe that humans are very different in IQ and abilities, to deny the best of us to shine is a mistake. Capitalism with it's focus on supply and demand is the driving force in the economy, as it has been for thousands of years, communism tried to stop it and it was a total disaster. Anyway, the first thing you should teach your children is that life is not "fair", it's not supposed to be, the sooner people learn that the happier they will be.

Any accident or health issue would result in a huge debt and you can't get a high paying job without spending a huge sum for university. In the UK etc there are paid apprenticeships etc which are widely available as an alternative to university and healthcare is free and in parts of the UK university is free

As for the deaths constantly quoted under Mao, the exaggerate claims of deaths from starvation were not increased but decreased from the deaths *before* Mao’s reforms owing to Western imperialist interference with China prior to 1950. Look up life expectancy data from 1950 to 1970, and multiply that through the large population. Mao brought live expectancy from 45 to 70 over his career, literacy from 10% to 80%. I sympathize with you as I used to have similar notion but after a lot of work realized I was completely brainwashed within Australia. Upon a lot of research it turns out that Mao did exceedingly more for the people of China than he caused problems and without Mao and their liberation of China from capitalists in the early 1950s, the whole county of China would have followed a path similar to India or Indonesia which both had a similar (even slightly better) initial conditions. Now China has eliminated poverty and has far better health care, higher literacy, economic mobility and business than India or Indonesia and is even catching up to the West which it was exceedingly behind in 1950s when Britain was still bribing and calling the shots over there.

Oh, this brings me to the insight why socialism is probably attractive in certain places. A corrupt, stealing regime with much inequity is of course not attractive for the mass of ordinary people. If they can, they will want a kind of government 'run by the people and for the people'. This might seem the better, more ethical alternative. To keep capitalism but bring in a wise and good government would be better perhaps.

Also, on vietnam, at the time I think that Democrats were in power at least at first, it was by partisan thing, unfortunate one, but when faced with the deaths of american soldiers, since the Vietnamese were too good at guerilla warfire. And how is that because of capitalism that a government decided to do that on Vietnam? Capitalism is pretty much economic system, meanwhile communism is a political one as well as economic one. (There can be some argument that Capitalism is a little bit political, but at best that).
So, a Far-right wing totalitarian fascist government, which hasnt started to exterminate Jews until 1942, (Nazi Germany) is the same as capitalism for you? Something is wrong with you.
How is th invention of Nuclear Bombs because of Capitalism? Now, for them it was either many many dead US soldiers as well as Japanese or just Japanese and possibly a little bit less Japanese, since Emperor Hirohito had his "famous" decree that every man woman and kid should resist in some way. Lets not forget that the Soviets also were trying to invent the first nuclear bomb.
Now, go on and tell me that this was not true communism and that actually communism can be implemented in another better way and it for sure can work, as all the other commies and anarchists tell about their ideology.

In 1982 or 83 after years of trying to obtain a travel visa to the United States and France, my young female cousins were finally able to visit from Poland. They weren’t allowed to travel to the same country so one came here and the other to France. Here I was a teenager thinking that she would want jeans, makeup, a Walkman, or hand held video games. Do you know what she wanted? The batteries from the game, ball point pens, lined paper and potato peelers!! Boxes of each! All the things we take for granted! She told me the Communist Party would just steal the jeans if she brought back those. They couldn’t go to church either. They would hold Catholic services at different houses each Sunday and on other Sunday’s they wouldn’t go at all just to throw off any suspension. Is capitalism good, did people die because of it? Not? The Chinese were not killed, atomic bombs were not dropped on the peaceful cities of Japan? Did they not destroy Iraq because of a false pretext? Have the dark-skinned population been deprived of their rights? Have you shown aborigines in zoos?

True communism is the abolishment of capitalism and this has never been tried. Also 3rd world nations dont count.

If you have to explain to someone why Communism is evil, they're not worth wasting your breath on.🤓

Or what about, lift all economic sanctions on Cuba that keep it poor instead of blaming it on "evil communism".

I was waiting for an explanation, but Ben Shapiro didn't exlain what a stateless classless and moneyless society is.
Communism isn't wanting fairness, never was.
Communism is about a statless classless and moneyless society, which would be brought by democratizing the means of production.
For those wondering what democratizing the means of production means, it literaly means what it says. Have people vote in their own managers and CEOs, letting people have a more direct say in our economy.
All Ben did was saying Cuba bad, America great.
Cuba has little to do with any of the things named above.

Cuba is actually one of best places to live in the world. If I wasn't loyal to my country and didn't want to bring communism back to it, I would move there straight up.
