She just talked about it on a Rolling Stone podcast and apparently she wrote most of it when she was heartbroken at a rehearsal with her band and she just started playing it steam of consciousness and her band joined in. Her sound guy gave her a copy of what she did, it was like 10 minutes long and she edited it down from there 🤯

Starbuck1234! I love her and I know she’s incredibly talented HOWEVER, her vocals are incredibly shaky and inconsistent in this performance. I know she was very very emotional during, but if you want to showcase her true talent this specific performance is not exactly the best way to go.

This version is very emotional, and is considered one of the most memorable Grammy performances. Someone commented below about watching live versions.... This is the best version. But, you can obviously choose any version you wish to listen to, a live version if suggested, or the album version. Its the beauty of having your own channel, you can decide what you'd like to listen to. Still, this is the most raw and emotional version and this performance is iconic. I think you made a good decision.
