      if your spotter is no drone rc master wouldn't it be great to change the roles to see how a newbie feels with the goggles and the motion stick ?
      I am just keen to know how a bloody new guy in the hobby feels to control a drone without andy RC experience cause that might be the main target group.
      I was not so convinced on my only flight I could do 2 days ago and it felt a step back compared to RC .
      But I guess that might be due to permanent comparison in your brain how much smoothly I would be able to control the system with less latency using my RC.
      Could be only a question of time and get used to and immersion.
      batterylife is horrible and the biggest no go at least at such ridicolous price point. 9 minutes with brakes end up in 8 minutes flight time for a 150€ battery ... crazy expensive and new factor compared to Mavic Air 2 and Mavic 2 Pro.
      Thanks a lot

      @@iestspeed by law in the UK you'll need to have a 'spotter' with you when flying with goggles so they can maintain VLOS thats why Ian had his mate Stu with him.

    Brilliant flight Ian, that joystick seems fantastic and super easy to get the hang of, that battery time though seems short compared to some other videos I've seen, could it be a dodgy battery? Hopefully when your other pair arrives you'll get longer out of each, I'm getting the drone in a few weeks but I'll spend the extra on the batteries first then pick up the flight stick at some point afterwards as it seems great fun, can't wait for the next video 👍

I took my mavic air 2 out yesterday and I was up in the air for about 27 minutes and yes I know there completely different drones but to only get 8 or so minutes then having to charge again is really not good unless you can afford a dozen batteries 😁 good video though Ian wish I had that much space at the back of.my garden

    Quick question.... When you start flying macro manual mode and you adjust and tighten the F1 and F2 screws within the controller: does this have to been undone again when going back into Sports or normal mode? Can they be left that way to fly in all modes from that point forth?

    • @IaninLondon

      They can be left but it would then make things hard to fly in normal mode....

  • @speedbird737
    @speedbird737 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Guys the battery life is better than the usual FPV drones out there - this is an FPV acro/racing drone not the same as a camera drone! Its for flying around in a close space like a racing course or doing tricks - its meant to be flown in full manual mode too - so the battery life is in fact really good.

    • @kevcdrone
      @kevcdrone 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nigel, this drone isn’t made for racing, or real FPV freestyle(it’s just too expensive and fragile). I believe it is intended for getting great cinematic shots, that you couldn’t get with the likes of a Mavic, or other normal camera drone. Running a 6s 5” freestyle drone with a 1550mAh battery can get you 8ish minutes.
      Kind regards Kev

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a setting in the camera settings to remove the props from most views but it's a single axis gimbal and the whole point of FPV is to give that banking view in turns... The Mavic range have their 3 axis gimbals 👍🏻

    when flying what do you have to have connected and to what? is the phone needed to fly?
    battery to googles via cable and phone to goggles via cable?... then remote (motion or controller) is wireless? is this correct?
    Ive seen many have phone connected to goggles, but its unclear if this is just for a 'remote view' or if its needed to fly.

      @TheTechnobear Yes, it's Goggles with wired battery, but only need the phone by USB for initial activation & firmware update, and if you want the spotter to see too. Otherwise it's goggles + battery, then controller, and the drone. Watch my unboxing and setup vid. cheers, ian

    Great review and flight test with the joystick. Are there any settings to tune the joystick control sensitivity (like one can do on a usual controller)?

    #IanInLondon I wonder if DJI will adapt that Motion Controller to the Mavic family, would be nice.

    I notice when you're using the controller that you are moving your whole arm up & down. I bend my wrist... Just a thought🤔

    It looks great fun BUT battery life is an issue I fear.

    Using the motion controller in sport mode looks the most fun - but loosing signal at 400M - wonder what happened to the 6 mile range claim Ian?? 🤔

      True. There seems a big difference between the specs and reality....

    DJI says you get 20 minutes in N mode with speed of less than 40 kph with no wind. Anything more will drastically eat the battery.

    Really enjoying these videos with the FPV though I think I won't be buying one. For one thing, I just don't have room in my backpack for a Steve.. :-)

    Nice flying . Can anyone tell me how to set the battery to where it will return to home at a certain percentage. Thanks.

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't set that on the FPV yet; it's only a basic version of the Fly App

    Hello, Ian. Very nice video! Do you experience any motion sickness while flying with the goggles on? I just bought my FPV yesterday and was practicing on the simulator and felt a little motion sickness. I have no problem in VR which I know is different, but thought I would mention it nonetheless. Keep up the great work!

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the first time I got a slightly thick head, but that goes after a flight or two. Sitting down may help you get through that first flight :)

    Awesome distance on first flight! Is there a way to practice the motion controller with the flight simulator?

    Ian, Be interesting to see how quick the price drops on this drone? Pretty sure it will be quick. Unlike the Mavics they are a great all rounders, On a plus that hand controller is a great gadget, unlike the standard remote. FPV is great for racing but prefer to build my own, where Dji have done this for people ease. Take into account the hand controller @£139 + extra batteries say over £139x 2 £278 nearly £1600 quid +

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. £1250 combo + £130 controller + £240 batteries. Over £1600..... This is a niche product that has to come down in price.......

      @@IaninLondon ⬇️ Price drop🤣 Ian now looking forward to an inspire 3, or mavic 3, love the Mavic and inspire series👍 Hopefully.

    You can stay in place an just tilt the motion controller left and right instead of turning yourself all over the place!

    You wouldn’t want to forget to press the brake button , then put the controller down ?! Also, walking with the goggles on is a no no - any trip and fall whilst holding the controller.......?
    It does look fun though 👍
