Using a Vintage Clark Forklift to load scrap

    My son and I just purchased a forklift that looks exactly like this. Our data plate is missing and was wondering if you could tell me what model yours is. I heard you say it was built in 1946. Thanks

      When sitting on the forklift there should be a number on the side of the forklift. below the up and down controls near the engine bay on the outside of the body. Should be a cl and numbers after it Which means car loader. So when Clark made these Forklifts they made them manual transmission up till 1946. In 1947 the came out with hydro transmission. Surf around the internet you will find more. Mine like your is missing the plate as well. Here's a link to the book I found online:

    Need to let it warm up for a while before use. Good way to destroy an old engine running it cold, especially a flat head! Hydraulics will be slow till the fluid warms up. Can aslo run thinner oil to help in winter. Otherwise she's a beaut Clark!
