I still have mine, software is only up to 2012 but for as much diag work as I do lately I couldn't justify the cost of an update. Still a SUPER useful tool and the cheapest bidirectional scan tool around especially if you get a nice used one. Great video 👍
It really is amazing that it can hold it's own against a 2018 scanner. I love it, and will hate it when I finally have to replace it. Brake bleeds, electronic parking brake service mode, Testing window switches with the bi-directional controls, on and on. It really is worth its weight!
Just ordered one on ebay . Up to 2011 update. Red button original not Evo. Also noticed it had the scope attached. Got it for under 300. Sold as is as they don't know how to test it properly. It turns on an cycles through the menus according to seller so I'm saying my prayers
Hey I have an otc gensiys and it have the 3.0 system if I updated it to the 5.0 will it cover all the vehicles from the last update to the newest update or would I have to buy the 4.0 update first
Ha! No, amazingly this little unit was never cracked. Cheers to OTC for doing what DISH network never could. They have one heck of an encryption method.

I have an issue with mine. When I connect to my 2006 Honda civic it asks to have the key turned on even though it is fully in the on position therefore I can not diagnose the car. It only does it on this car yet I can scan this car with any other scan tool. Any ideas to what would cause this?
I would check to make sure that the OBD-2 port on that car is sending power out. I'll bet that a blown fuse, or other issue has caused the OBD-2 port to be dead. The key is on, but since the scan tool can't see the power, it assumes that the key is still off. Good luck!
What version ngis disk should I buy for a used genisys spx red button with 5.0 . Mine didn't come with any disks. I figured the newest version on ebay .
Scratch that it works on the 05 Saturn Vue! Tried on it on 2001 jeep Cherokee and 2001 dodge ram Cummins. Didn't work on those..maybe I did something wrong. Man I was sweatin. So I have 2011 domestic and Asian and 2003 European. I also have heavy duty and the scope program. What would be the best way to update to get to the 2015 on all those. Even if I could get up to 2013 for a much cheaper price that would be good enough.

I believe it is 100% based off of complaints at this point. Don't tick of the people near you and it shouldn't be an issue.
