If the potentiometer is severely worn out where the contact leads are damaged, no amount of cleaning will help.
But if u have warranty then use it
@@ReyezReaper13 but that’s if it still within warranty.
Correct... dirt doesn't cause stick drift, it only causes sticky thumbsticks - the only real way to fix is replace the thumbs tick module with new solder
microsoft needs to add hard gold coating on the potentiometer or conductive polymers
bro forgot there is kids here whos parents will say no to doing that
Fair warning do not tear a whole in that sticker or anything bc that can void the warranty and you’ll never be able to take it back
I fixed mine tho
i am the warranty. also if your warranty is over, there is no risk.
Take it back and they’ll do exactly what this demo shows for $50 even under warrantee
Just buy a new controller lol
In the United States warranty stickers are illegal (You can break the seal and they can’t legally void your warranty). I’m not sure about other countries though.
My 360 controller never had these issues
Facts
Facts
No idea what happened to stock because they’re made from the same parts
Same here had mine for 8 years and never had one issue
My 360 controller had a MEANNN stick drift
The manufacturers should eventually know that Hall Effect analog sticks are existing, or should'nt pretend they don't know.
If the controller never breaks down then they don’t sell new ones
Its not that they dont know, hall effect sensors are patented and would cost them a shit ton of money so they'd rather give you shit and have you buy a better controller aftermarket
@@menace2society00 "Shit ton of money". Oh yeah, I just wanna to remind that there's some Chinese\Japan small manufactures that building pretty good controllers with Hall Sticks. Where did they take money?
@@piteft Key words Chinese and Japanese... These are small companies that dont care about patents because if theu get caught they just make a new company. You can also buy emulator devices online from those same type of companies pre loaded with 1000+ official games that they obviously dont have the license to. Moral of the story not all companies follow the rules but big companies like Sony and Microsoft arent gonna go bankrupt to give yall hall effect.
This reminds me of my job when I used to fix Nintendo Switch Joycon drifts lol. That was fun but SUPER low pay.
This really helped out a lot thanks for the video
glad it helped!
Stick Drift is caused by Hard Playing or Falling Down. I use a separate controller for multiplayer games because in heat moments I will press down on buttons too hard.
So you guys all know the screws are t60 security screws u need a t60 screw driver with a hole in the middle or u can take a tiny flathead screw driver like really tiny and break off the little poles in the screw hole
Only replacing potentiometers can fix drifting issue.
Ya, I have this same problem. I just bought a new (used) controller from game stop. I only had a few hours of gaming before this issue started.
Thank you bro 😍❤️
Btw Hall effect joysticks/ Controllers fix stick drift
Where can I find these joysticks/ controllers for Xbox. I only see Switch versions
Gamesir g7 SE
Worked, thnxx
no problem
I got so annoyed with the controller I ripped the damn joy stick out the socket
These controllers are shit. I'm currently using a xbox One controller as the series x controller already has problems.
so we can use a different controller to series s?
@@lumealapicioareletale6697 very Yes.
Nintendo: hold my hd rumble
I have a stupid series s controller and it got hardcore drift in less than 2 months of usage. barely did anything too it. and ive tried isopropyl, blowing in the corners, opening it up and cleaning it like this video, etc. and it just won't read when I go up on the left analog stick. unless I press in. so I cant play any game that doesn't have sprint
Same here
Same
Need a new joystick.

Can I use an electronic cleaning spray instead of alcohol?
Yes
Electronic cleaning spray is base on alcohol 💀
You should pour vodka in it
@@JV-ll1cuwhy when you can drink it instead?
@@megaruhe6296just put the controller in a jar of vodka for 15 mins then drink the vodka
Two birds one stone
tysm ur helping me :>
Nice !!!! I will try
Thanks
Anytime bud!
Left joystick when pushed up or down just stays in that direction moving fast unless I pull back myself
Guys remember when xbox fanboys where dunking on playstaion and Nintendo for having stick drift
because they get it more often than xbox nintendo cant go over a year without getting stick drift ive had my series controller for about 2 years and it works perfectly fine this guy just had it earlier
Nintendo still worse💀💀
I have a controller for 5 years now and it works perfectly wtf do you people do to the controllers
Put your deadzone down and then come back
@@Flowkeyz for real 😂😂
Dropping them tends to cause the issue parts inside break after repeatedly dropping
It very commonly has to do with games that require depressing the joystick buttons a lot. This is like the #1 cause of stick drift on all controllers, especially oculus quest.
Warframe 🤣🤣😂
I still have a xbox one controller no stick drift the motors are dying tho thats all other than that 9.5/10 controller i still use it to this day
You got there1 out of 100 indestructible controller to release when they made the Xbox one
@Nessesito Burrito 🌯 nah bro all my og controllers work fine. even the Xbox one s controllers are good. Every single series controller I own has stick drift
Old gen also has stick drift. Ur just lucky
My Xbox Series X controller is 3 years old (Bought at launch) and I haven't had any stick drift issues
We get it youre lucky 🙄
mine broke in a month how😭
same
@@m6sgivingsMine started drifting 2 weeks after I bought it!! 😂
Thank you
your welcome
What’s the special screw driver called for that star shaped screw I need that tool to open mine up and I can’t figure it out
its in the video description- t8
its such a shame. with each new generation the controllers get worse. i replaced my xbox one controller when the sticks were so worn down that half the rubber already fell off. The new one always runs forward after only a couple months of use, cant even see any wear on the sticks yet. i hate them for those stupid screws. they know damn well how fast their controller break
Yeah bro, the real business is on the controllers, PS also has drift but I think the controllers are of a better quality
Spray some wd 40 in it
Would that damage it? Or help? Legit question 😂
damage
@@ThatGuyReviewscan I use 70%?
Can u do the first step with water
EAT, SLEEP, PRESS THE JOYSTICKS, REPEAT.
I believe what you were showing in the beginning was a bad motherboard
Mine was dog hair in the stick mechanization.
I’ve gone through like 3 controllers since last year and it’s always due to the spring being deformed it’s so jarring because I’m not spending £100 on a solder heat gun thing I hope Astro release a c50 with hot swap replaceable thumbsticks
It’s a shame … you would think these expensive controllers would just work. Appreciate the comment!
Get warranties on your controller through game stop they will give you a new controller if your current one has any problems
@@pvyj they give you used/refurbs not new ones.
Tysm
np
what screwdriver do you need for this?
Torx T8, a special version that has a smal hole in the center.
But you can use a really small flat one instead and then switch to a T8 if that center tip gets broken.
I repaired tons of controllers
I don't have rubbing alcohol in it or a air compressor so I can't do that
Just buy gulikit kingkong 2 with hall sensor anolog and say no to any other controller without hall sensor analog
I had to look this up and there is a claim to these controllers not having drift problems. Very interesting.

what is the name of the music
Song name?
Yeah cause I always have a sit compressed laying about lol 🤦♂️
well buy a new controller if you don't wanna buy the compressed air
@@dukerts5716 hahahahahahahaha
@@dukerts5716 DAMN
you can't buy it in some places if your not over 18. I think it's because people use it to get a cheap high or something
This would have helped but the screws in mine all had a peace of metal in the middle of them that made it impossible to get into
those are security torx screws, buy a screwdriver with that name or use a normal torx screwdriver but bend or break the Little metal spike in the middle
And you need the number 8, the internal screws of the controller are smaller, number 6
Gamesir g7 se, it’s wired which I actually love with a 9ft cord and magnetic analog sticks it’s impossible to get stick drift, has two mappable back buttons which are in the perfect position and has a mute button for your headset
Guys you will need a T8 screwdriver!!
😢
What type of screwdriver are you using to take the screws out?
Size 8 torx. (T7 or T8)
@@luigiluigi2098 okay thanks
I couldn’t get the screws unscrewed except one
I got all but 1. It had a weird spike in the middle of it where the screwdriver head goes
you need a security torx screwdriver, or use a normal torx screwdriver but bend or break the Little metal spike in the middle
Controllers these days are expensive yet zero durability...
Can i use beer instead?
lol
@@ThatGuyReviews hehe 😂
No serious question. Can I?
@@ThatJokerDude yea, I use beer every day. Not for cleaning purposes tho
Will super glue work the same as alcohol.
No wtf
Obviously, yes

Only one way to find out!!
Just pull the sticker off.
Idk how to fix my controller it’s like when I walk it stops me from walking and it’s like the joy con it’s not in the right place it’s like going up and down instead of staying in place sb help?
Same idk how to fix it it made me quit the game
if none of the steps work AND its happening to every game, might be time for a new controller
@@ThatGuyReviews sad, I just bought mine a year ago
i know its more common than you think. just look at the views and comments for this video alone
when i go to unscrew the screws in the inside of my controller it takes some weird type of thing to unscrew them
It’s called a T8 screwdriver.

Had that problem with my ps4 controller but dismantling that peace of trash was so complicated because of that useless touchpad..
I'm super happy with my new xbox never had that problem again but its good to know that it's easier to dismantle the xbox controller
I recently had to replace the charging port on one of my ps4 controllers, because it stopped charging. It was really easy to disassemble.
Can I use water instead of alcohol
Yes
Once, probably
No because alcohol dissolves much faster
Can I use hydrogen peroxide instead of iso
No wtf
@@TrueBoricua 😂
What type of screwdriver?
For outside screws use a T8 or T9
Interior screws are mainly T6
some torx security bullcrap
Where can I find a t8 or t9 screwdriver

Hey man, I have an xbox one controller that started drifting close to 2 years ago. Do you think this method would still work?
No, there was a software update.
Hardware doesnt change over time dude…
Nope, this won’t work.
You cant really stop hardware degredation
Even if the part completely stops functioning you can buy an ALPS original joystick and solder it or go to a repair shop

My controller has screws that have a little mettle piece in the middle of them so you cant open it with a screw driver
Whit a flat screw i use a 2.0
@@kazx7649 i did figure that out after a few minutes pf thinking but thank you still
It’s called a T8 screwdriver.
It's a safety torx. It's still the t8 . But you have to get an electronics repair kit like the "Kobalt cell phone repair kit" " at lowes. It's like $30.
I use a t10 screwdriver I just grinded the metal stick in the middle out the way and it work like a charm
